About Petite Knits or any other successful knitting pattern designers.... Why do people insist on tearing down people who I am sure started out small and grew because they produce a product that works whether it be writing style, design or fit. Success should be celebrated not torn down. Thank you for your designs and projects, they are always an inspiration

I don’t think people should police/ judge who anyone chooses to knit. We are all different and gravitate towards different things. Is petite knit really well known, yes! And there’s a reason for that. Like you said it’s easier to stick with something you are familiar with/ trust, because you already know you like it. As a beginner knitter, i needed a pattern to hold my hand throughout the whole process and I found petite knit’s patterns did that. For me it was soooo easy to read, understand and follow, which helped me gain confidence in reading patterns. Now I feel like I have the base knowledge needed to explore other designers and their writing style, without feeling overwhelmed. On a different note, I love all your projects as usual ☺️and I’m looking forward to your new design.

Thank you for your comment about Petite Knits. I get tired of people feeling they can tell others what they should and shouldn’t knit. That is how I feel about those who are almost rabid about the size inclusivity issue. Good in you!!

I think it is important to knit what you want to knit. I personally love PetiteKnit patterns because they are my style, the patterns fit really well, are beautifully designed with a polished finish, and the patterns are really well written. There is a reason her patterns are so popular. Knitting is your hobby, so just knit whatever you like.

For most people knitting is a hobby, and everyone should be entitled to knit whatever they want, however they want with the yarn they choose. I think this applies to Influencers as well. I follow people whose aesthetic is similar to my own and often use their projects as a leaping off point to explore pattern/designer options. I have knit 4 Petite Knit patterns, but many more patterns from other (mostly smaller) designers.

On the Petit Knit issue, I think you should knit what brings you joy. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows there are other designers and I don’t think you have any responsibility to guide knitters in any direction. A quick glance through Ravelry will help someone find a different designer if they wish to. You do you, knit what you want ❤️ On my second sleeve of The Reste, by the way. A lovely pattern that I am going to be so happy with 😻

A reste blouse sounds wonderful! I hope your test knit call gets lots of attention! :) Re: petite knit: knit whatever you fancy!! That said, I know I always like the podcasts that have a segment of ”recent favorited in Ravelry”, because they always make me discover other designs than I’d noticed myself, and it spreads information of other designers and items without having to knit them all!

Interesting comments by your viewer about Petite knit, I have never made her patterns I prefer not to make things that everyone else is making, but there are so many designers and so many patterns I don't have to. We all choose our projects and yarn. You knit what ever you want to knit and Don't worry about what anyone else thinks, I think I have knit as many Joji patterns as Truly Myrtle, love them both. I do want a vest tho.

I’m not sure where people get the idea they can comment negatively on what designers anyone uses to make garments. Many of us have brand loyalty when it comes to clothing, and that isn’t anyone’s business either. Knit and wear what you love. I will do the same. ❤ I enjoy your podcasts.

I'm sorry for that comment you received. Everyone is free to knit whatever they want. If some people want to explore many designers, good for them! And if someone wants to stick to a few designers, it's completely fine too. If a person wants to knit only vanilla socks or everything in pink, it's their choice! It's true that we can get tired of seeing the same designs knit over and over again but we must remember that when we knit something for ourselves, it's not for other people. So if we really wanna knit something, we can't deprive ourselves of the pleasure of doing it simply because someone else might be tired of seeing that kind of project or designs from that designer.

I find it mildly interesting how different the pie chart of size applications is for your test knit compared to mine! My last test knit had upwards of 500 applications, but something like 3 sizes had no testers. Maybe 70% of my applications are for sizes B-C. I wonder if there's something I can be doing to attract more varied applications since it doesn't seem to be such an issue for other designers ... And also on the PetiteKnit thing - of course knit whatever you want, but recently I've been trying to branch out and knit more things by different designers and with different techniques because I feel it's really helpful for my designing! Using different techniques or working through patterns written in different styles helps me identify what I like about different pattern features. Still always go back to PetiteKnit when I want a guaranteed successful comfort knit though :')

Oh hi Florence! I didn’t know you watched my channel 🤍 very interesting, my numbers of applications are nowhere near but a more even spread by the sounds of it. Have your patterns always had extremes of the size range graded? Perhaps your designs are more attractive to those with a certain body shape/size? Re: PK, agree and always wish to learn & develop but I think yes that’s it for a comfort knit, and I’m not sure it’s our place to police others I guess….✨

Re the pattern debate. I love Petite Knits. I buy her patterns because tge patterns are reliable and easy for me to read. I have dyslexia and patterns that have more instructions that I can't read or more than 5 pages is pointless for me to buy. I want a pattern basically that I can read and knit. I also don't want to buy a pattern that has 15 sizes because I can modify to fit a basic basic pattern and I don't want a book to print out. I suggestion for you is to promote your own beautiful patterns as a designer, first and foremost. Its your business. Then you can make and talk about any patterns and designers you like. Rebecca at creabea is a good example of how a knitting designer promotes her patterns first than she talks about her knitting with other designers patterns. Don't compare your patterns to anyone else ever..its your pattern and your ideas. Best wishes and don't feel you need to compare xx Congratulations on finishing your medical GP exams. Always learning more. Come to Australia..we need good GPs in the country areas

Good to see you podcasting. I enjoy your enthusiasm for your designs as well as your FO's. Petite Knits are popular because they are wonderful patterns. Aside from the marketing, aesthetic fantasy they give, etc. they are easy to knit, flattering, size inclusive, wearable, classic as well as stylish. If knitters want to knit new designs from new designers they can but they really cannot determine what any other knitter makes.

Like so many other people have already said, I believe that you should knit what you want and what makes you happy regardless of who the designer is. I like PetiteKnit and I understand why she’s so popular, but I personally want to branch out and try other less well known designers ☺️ Other people shouldn’t feel entitled to tell others what they can knit, and I find it quite rude when they do.

Your Tee is beautiful! There are so many people today who feel morally superior and do not hesitate to show it. It's sad. The Danish designers stick out from the rest of designers. Once one falls in love with the simplicity and fit, it is love. :) We live only once so let's knit what we like... No place for negativity... :)

I don't care what anyone choices to knit, but I have a list of things I need from a designer/ pattern before I will spend money to buy it. Petite knit misses a lot of my boxes, but I can see why all of my nos are yeses for other knitters. I don't judge and I don't want to be judged. For me, I have a large family who I love to knit for. I have trained them to tell me when they like something and I will add that to a running list of gift knits. I don't want to use my limited resources on something I can't make for all of them. If I can't find what I want, I'll do the work to figure it out myself. If I buy it, I DONT want to do the maths. I'll adjust minor things for fit, but unless it's free I'm not making major revisions.

In sewing people like certain pattern companies over others when their base block fits them better without lots of alterations. I don't see how knitting patterns can't be the same. If you know a company, familiar with the pattern layout and they fit us well, don't try to fix what isn't broken IMO.

Personally, I *try* to knit from designers with a smaller following and large size range. I like to spread the wealth and uplift people trying to make a go of it. However, if you already own the patterns and like how they fit, that’s your choice as a knitter and you should not be judged for it! 🤷🏻‍♀️ (just like I would RATHER shop from a small business but sometimes I just need the convenience and the speed of Amazon).

No one can tell anyone what they should knit or buy. Did anyone challenge a knitter if they chose to only knit king Cole or sirdar ? Did anyone challenge someone if they only bought clothes from next or only shopped at Asda ? We can spend our money where we like and if we have favourites then that’s great. ❤

I think people can knit whatever they like but I do think there's an element of being mindful of what you promote when you have followers. Whether it's supporting/promoting certain franchises or people who are problematic, showing non-size-inclusive patterns, or whatever it may be. I don't think there's anything wrong with knitting PetiteKnit patterns if that's what you like! There are some things about her I don't like though: -I don't think she puts as much effort into grading at the larger sizes as she ought to (in my opinion) -She has a large back-catalogue of designs awaiting being updated to be size-inclusive, sometimes being updated to include 3XL but not going up to 5XL -(this is my main bug-bear) She releases basically identical versions of her patterns under a new name and charges full price (eg DK version and mohair edition which have the exact same grading and numbers etc), and she splits her designs into eg the Moby sweater has a baby (up to 12 months), mini (1 to 7 years), junior (7 to 14 years), as well as the normal and the 'man' version. Her transparency on what is different between patterns is usually non-existent, and I feel like she's sometimes either trying to take advantage or doesn't mind taking advantage of people who don't know better. I know grading a pattern is a lot of work, but it does feel like she's taking the mick sometimes, especially on a simpler design (the Moby isn't a great example of that as I'm sure grading cables is a lot of extra work)
