I love how he explains the effects this has on his senses. What ways the sound hits his ears, the smells, how the surroundings not only look, but how they make him emotional, how it's engulfed his entire being really. But, through it all, he can still see the beauty that still shines through it all. I wish all reporters were this way. Instead of just reading a scripted update from their news desk, or out doing a live feed that is in no way connecting to the viewer. I feel like I'm experiencing it with him & not just watching it on a screen. It becomes emotional for me too.

With the release of Google maps several years ago, I think more people than ever probably have access to high quality maps and satellite imagery. There is literally no difference in skill from reading a paper map to a digital map on your device. Except maybe knowing how to properly fold a paper map. *That* is a lost skill. Also maybe cartography, which is by and large done by GIS and without any artistry, hand shading, etc. But it is the price we pay for immediacy, coverage, and accessibility. That said, it is useful to have printed maps for offline use as well.

Oh please, design so can steal from, just like do to Italy, and make much more to sell copies of with own enslaved slave labor, around the globe. Big difference between us in the upper westernized countries in the world. Only the greediest shits in the US are into the same way. You manage to show the difference between living near a volcano and living right by one. The quiet around the volcanos thunder is eerie. That contrast with the main city tells us everything. Great editing and story telling. Watch out for the volcanic glass in your lungs, as well as your eyes. You can do a voice over later to protect yourself, if needed.

Funny you should say that, because after my first visit there in 1992, whenever someone asked about my holiday they kept thinking I had been to Las Palmas or Palma de Mallorca (more typical tourist spots) and no-one knew about La Palma. I tried to explain a few times, how I meant La Palma but realised I wanted it to remain unpopular, safe from the mass tourism that ruins so many places..While some of the big Hotels have since been built and I've seen much change over the years (and 5 more visits) since then, it's fortunate to be concentrated in mostly one spot, so not spoiling the entire coastline. It's still my favourite place in the world and has a special place in my heart. Watching this video was very sad as my heart and mind are with those currently going through this mayhem.💜

I love your professional demeanor and your ability to put thoughts together quickly. You have personalized a horrible disaster and thousands of people from all over the world are watching you in awe. I feel as if you are a relative/could be a best friend to have a beer with! I am anxious/worried for you and everyone else on Island. The volcano has always owned your beautiful paradise. Your Island was on loan from it. It's so tragic what has transpired. I wish the volcano could be stopped. We all seek out beauty hoping, but knowing, perhaps one day "the tornado/the hurricane" will take our home. It's the risk involved in our choices. I will continue watching your videos and say "Dios mire despues de ti".
