Bushcraft Bear, _the bats have a significant role in the volcano trajectory. Heightened activity is due to their stress levels. Chronic effects of ash include ash-related blistering of the skin and blindness in birds. Volcanic ash also is harmful to insects because it blocks their spiracles and causes abrasion and excessive dehydration. Because of the position of insects in the food chain with bats, their mortality rates are effected. It is wise to observe the wildlife and their intuitive responses to evacuating an area_

Bushcraft Bear, for the bats the sound is called echo location. When a bat detects an insect it wants to eat, it produces a rapid series of calls to pin-point the exact location of its prey, the swoops in, and GULP! - dinner. Yes I heard the bat in the video... The lightning is from a thick volcanic plume of ash. It is called Volcanic Lightning and it occurs in a "dirty thunderstorm" or also known as an ash plume.

His appreciation for the smallest things I hope makes people realize that we must appreciate what we have & not dwell on tragedy. It makes me happy that someone else notices the birds & bats & is just trying to tell what he sees & how he interprets it; he’s never claimed to be a volcano expert & some of the comments are just rude borderline evil. Maybe he’s getting thru to people though to stop & listen for the bats! 😉❤️

Me too. I always hear the bats in the area, in the winter they are sleeping, as soon as spring hits I start hearing them again. The sound we humans hear is the communication sound to other bats (around 15-20kHz), it's much lower than the ultrasound (100+kHz) they use to locate insects.
