I read 100 self help books. But I only needed one...

Over the time I read 100+ self help books... I will not sit here and say that it was a waste of time, but this whole time I only needed one.
In this video I share with you the secret weapon of all self help books: Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz.
This book has fundamentally changed my life. You can change the way you look, you can learn discipline, you can be an achiever but unless you change your subconscious thoughts, there will always be somethings missing.
In this book you learn how to visualize what you want on a deeper level. You must dig deep within to look into the future.
Your thoughts are not YOU. You have to be able to control what thoughts you wish to have and to program your brain to let go of those negative intrusive thoughts.
It's work and it takes time to get into it, but once you do, you will never be the same!
Chapters:
00:00 - Intro
00:19 - Who is Dr. Maxwell Maltz
01:43 - What I learnt after reading 100 self help books
02:36 - The book The Slight Edge
03:59 - The power of visualization
04:50 - Tips we get from self help books
05:17 - Imagination
05:48 - The Psycho-Cybernetics exercise

I was probably in my late teens when I first read this book. Today I am 70 years old and living a life for which most people could only hope. I wish nothing but the best for all of you. Take action!

Hello, I was fascinated by the comment. I am a 15 year old teenager and I am really confused about life, work, and success as a whole. So I am looking for some lessons from others. Can I contact you by any chance? The fact that you said you are living a really good life and you are 70 years old, you will have a lot of lessons about what I seek. Is there any way I can contact you Sir?

You'll never meet such people. They don't exist. What you will meet are people who were already on their way to the Top of whatever mountain they decided to climb and they read the book and it gave them extra energy to continue doing all the right things they were already doing. Maybe throwing in some visualization or some such stuff. What you WON'T find are people who were on the bottom, read the book, and used almost exclusively The Secret to "manifest" their success. You don't gain success by "manifesting" it! You gain success by WORKING FOR IT.

At one point in my life I needed “popular books” writing by thinkers like Robert Greene, Maxwell Maltz, Steven Covey, and even books on NLP. However, my understanding of life, nature, the self, and reality deepened when I started reading Depth-psychology classical philosophy, and mythology. Thinkers like Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, Erich Fromm, Plato. Also, economist like Thomas Sowell and Milton Friedman. The thinkers I mentioned are extremely challenging, but reading books like Psycho-cybernetics and evething Robert Greene allowed me to understand the basics and go deeper into my journey!

  • @johnclancy7465
    @johnclancy746510 ай бұрын

I used to believe in this type of message. You have to visualize something first before you can experience it. Now I don't believe that. What is visualisation? It's just another word for a goal. There is nothing magic about it. We have a goal and we works towards it. I think the problem for most people is that they dream too big. And because their dream is so big they don't really believe they can achieve it, so they don't try most of the time. I know believe it is better to have small goals that are achievable and when you reach that goal, create the next achievable level and go for it. Example: You are a 12 handicap golfer that wants to be scratch. That's a huge gap in golfing ability. Instead of saying my goal is to be scratch, make your goal the 9 handicap mark. This will be difficult but very achievable with hard work. When you become a 9 handicap for a while make your next goal 6 handicap. Again this is difficult but very achievable. ANd keep dropping the target handicap until you reach scratch. It may never happen but you will definitely be a much better golfer. I think that we only truly believe something when we see tangible results in real life. If you were a coward your whole life and backed down from every possible fight or confrontation I don't think visualising yourself as a brave warrior will help. The first sign of an actual fight and your subconscious will revert to type: run! Instead you could say ' Okay I have been a coward in the past but I am going to change'. So you join a boxing club and slowly but surely you work up to your first sparring session. You do it and your self image changes. 'Maybe I am not such a coward after all'. Your belief has changed because you have seen real evidence of it. Every night we can visualize a brick wall in our garden. We can do this for months and wait in hope/vain for it to appear somehow. Or else we can actually buy the bricks and build that wall, brick by brick. It may not be the best wall in the world but it will be built!

Thank you for your comment, I loved reading your perspective! I totally agree with you and I wish I made it clear in my video that there’s NOTHING magical about visualization. In fact, I used Connor Mcgregor as an example, he always uses the power of visualization but he is (or was) also the hardest worker in the room. I believe that there’s a HUGE benefit in using visualization but also being a hard and smart worker in life. As a matter of fact, I think people should first learn how to work hard and achieve small goals and then start using visualization to grow their goals and objectives.

I found it in a small library in the UK while I was on vacation - love the feel of the leather and it’s not remastered. Glad you found yours! I do not use any background music or anything like that. I love meditation so I first relax my mind and body, and I start the visualization process. I think that the best way to do it is to first be in a safe comfortable place and try to relax as much as possible by focusing on your breath. I’m working on a step by step guide that people could play in the background while I guide them towards their visualization exercise.

Totally Agree. CBT, mindfulness, and Emotional Intelligence are great skill sets, that help you regulate emotion and to stay balanced and rational but they don't solve the fundamental issue that is at the core of all mental health, behavioral and performance issues - which is - Self Image and Self Interest. Adam Smith realized that intelligent self interest was a critical economical factor hundreds of years ago. It is the source of motivation, creativity and growth. It is the key to healing. Take care of yourself and you will help the world be a better place. Believe in yourself and you will shake off the chains of social order that enslave you. Religion teaches that you are a sinner - stay away from this programming which was only ever intended to keep you under someone's thumb. Stoicism helps with enduring and Existentialism helps with setting a course for your life, but at the foundation you must make a choice - to take care of yourself and to believe in yourself. Otherwise you go through life in a fog, you give up, you look for distractions and you never fulfill your potential. Good luck everyone.

Visualisation is a powerful skill to have to manifest your goals into reality, with the right amount of work of course. When it comes to manifesting a healthier body part, there are many studies suggesting that having a positive view on healing a body part could in fact make things better faster. Even bodybuilders use body-mind visualization to grow their muscles. I wish you good luck on your health!

Please note the following: - Don't get too much obsessed with looks and material stuff. Focus more on the content you are delivering, and its depth. Yes, looks and the way you deliver are important but there seems to be an imbalance. People love genuine people more. Buying the best studio set would not help much if they don't sense genuineness. They are just tools and not an end in themselves. - Check your pronunciation of the word "exercise" Thanks for sharing.
