11:13 you should sack a bishop on b8 (I mean you should move a bishop from c7 to b8 - Martin should capture it on the first/left board).
This is such an underrated content! we need more series with this one for sure
Since checkmating simultaneously on both boards is practically impossible unless martin is also aware of the challenge and is trying to allow it, I think the following would be acceptable even being strict: Make the checkmating move on the non-checkmate board, then mirror it on the checkmating board. Then the next move you could checkmate on the first board. Still extremely hard, but imo at least plausible (IIRC you had that situation, or at least close to it in this game witht he back rank mate and the other king being trapped on a single square) and still within turn order.

If it wasn't for the hanging of a queen and 2 rooks, I think there was a decent chance of a double checkmate. If you get to endgame with a queen and a rook, then a laddermate should be relatively easy to accomplish on both kings at the same time.

15:07 I think Martin was being ambitious and trying to fork your queen and rook with Nc3 if you somehow didn't notice
This is hard no matter what elo you play against. If high, they're naturaly tough. If low, they play random and it's pain to keep the boards synced.
Alternative title: Chess, but my elo decreases at logarithmic rate
This got me thinking of how to coach a beginner in the most universal concepts of the game, how to boil chess down to the most simple advice from which to build on their own. For the opening: Replicate "dream development" knights to f3/c3 f6/c6, bishops to c4/f4, castle short, queen up d2/e2, rooks to the middle and throw in h3/h6 for an escape square no matter what your opponent does, eventually they'll find move order optimizations and how to avoid trap openings on their own For the middle game: Trade, this requires an explanation of the point system, even trades, bishop for knight is fine to start, when a trade is possible go for it, this trains the ability to see contact between the pieces, reduces hanging piece blunders and raises the players ability to spot hanging pieces of their opponent, we're not worried about going for checkmate at this stage, just getting comfortable keeping the pieces on strong squares and trading down. For the endgame get your king up the board and attack pawns, I think this is the simplest advice to build on, the importance of utilizing your king cannot be stressed enough, eventually they'll realize they can't let a pawn get pass the king and discover the benefits of opposition, but move that king. This would make a great speed run series, like Building Habits on the chessbrah channel, there's a serious market for this kind of content and too few chess youtubers exploiting it because it takes a lot of time to edit the whole thing and it's mentally trying to play down to your opponents level when you see easy tactics, but for me playing down helped me to find creative alternatives and really observe the psychology of my opponents but that another story the bottom line is finding meta strategies that help new players understand the whole game

Great video! One tip: when finishing, just do a checkmate on one board, and then a checkmate on the following move on the second board (it does not have to be mirrored, only this last move only). Then, it is fixed. 😁
I'm having strong Chess Simp vibes here with that "the video ends" LoL

I think next time you may try a less rigorous rule: playing multiple Martins and need to perform the same moves simultaneously, but you win if you can checkmate any of them/you can still move on other boards when some of them are checkmated
This video actually succeed to put big smile on my face
I think there's a way to make a 2 player version of this: There are four boards White plays the same move on boards 1 and 2, then black plays the same move on 2 an 3, then white on 3 and 4, then black on 4 and 1, then it repeats.

to make it feasible getting checkmate on a board would eliminate that board, so whenever you would play on it you just don't.
This is a really cool challenge idea!
16:45 you could have gone to e4 with both rooks(unless you needed it to be from the same square too.
Martin falls for Scholar's Mate sometimes so I would've just kept trying until both sides fell for it
This was hilarious, thank you!
1:56 Martin castle-queenside his rook and bishop on the left board :D
What's terrifying is that any of your pieces captured on one board is completely immobilized on the other.
This was really nice. I have 2 suggestions though. I would personally remove the facecam since its so off center and small that you can't really see expressions etc. Also, if you do this again, I think you only need to call out the move once, since it's the same one every time :D ("e4 and e4")
Looking forward to your outro song being the new Lichess "Bum, Ba-Bum" game over sound when you lose in Puzzle Streak
what if in next video no matter what piece it is, you can only move it by 1 square per move ?
If the rules were only that you had to checkmate both boards on the same turn, but not necessarily with the same move (only for the checkmate move) I'm pretty sure there was a point you could have won that
might be a crazy idea to try to do the same thing but playing white on one board, black on the other....
The only way I can imagine to win on the same move is a ladder or king-and-rook/king-and-queen mate, where you herd his king into the same spot in both games. But yeah, that's really tough.
Lmao this is a hilarious challenge
you couldve played rook e4 at the end

Play against Martin but when you have a king move you have to play the worst move which is a blunder
You should try this challenge against a higher rated bot, but you only go for checkmate on one board, and the video ends if you win, you can’t move, or they checkmate you first
What about a rule that you are allowed to make a different move in each board, only if it ends in a simultaneos checkmate?
This was really fun to watch.
16:42 why not Rc4 instead of Kh3?
Maybe this but only the move itself must be the same, regardless of which piece or where on the board might be more reasonable. For example queen and rook 3 squares forward would be allowed.
your videos helped me a lot to qualify for district level chess today
What a great idea and exciting and stressful to watch lol
this is like 4d chess with multiverse timetravel
in the end game you should have just taken all of his pawns with your king and promoted
This is very interesting lol. You have like the entire house but cant do anything because of another game
This is similar to what simp does, but against low rated engines instead of low rated players.
Martin underpromoted to the knight because Nc3 forks your queen and rook
I feel like this would be awesome against another person where each person has this restriction once every other turn.

If you play it out, it wouldnt make sense cuz all the pieces would be in different places
If you ever do a rematch, it would be nice if you use two different board colours to help keep them apart. But overall great content.
This is probably the only way that a pair of Stockfish could lose to a pair of Martins.

I think you would get more alike moves from a higher ranked opponent, and your "mission", still very hard, should be "easier" - 250 bot makes more random moves, that nobody can understand or guess 😁

I think @ 15:38 c2 would’ve made you regret Rd4/Rxd4
I think this works better on a real life board since you can have someone play regular chess and you play a game with some cheating (allowing same colour piece capture( so that you can do the same move) and that if you can’t move you lose)

Hmm. But that would ruin a fine move like Qf5+
An interesting variation would be 3 boards and things get decided by what happens in a majority of boards. -You can move a piece if it exists in at least 2 boards (you would need to implement a no-move in the third board). -You win if you checkmate in at least 2 boards, maybe not simultaneously. -After the first win or lose, you return to two-board rules (you might recover a few frozen pieces) but without simultaneous checkmate being required. -After the second win or lose, you only get to use the common pieces in the two boards (alternatively, the pieces which are in the same position in two boards whatsoever).
