    The way he just casually explained the moves at the end had me dead. “You do you a ladder checkmate. You move one queen, then you move the other, then sacrifice one queen, proceeds to lose the second queen, and the game ends in a king on king draw”

    It's amazing to me how even though this is a train wreck of a game, there was a clash in the opening, tactical patterns in the middle-game, and an unbalanced king-pawn endgame which ultimately leads to a draw. This really is GM chess

    For those of us in the middle of the bell curve, sometimes we intentionally forgo what we think is the best move in the hopes that our equally inept opponent will blunder the resultant position. Stockfish is never impressed by that "strategy".

    I used to think I was bad as a kid because in that situation I'd have made sure the queens were always on diagonals with one another on similar rows/columns to ensure there's no way to take them. Never imagined seeing someone lose two queens to just a king for absolutely no reason, the 50 move rule is more than generous enough to ensure play it safe when you can't lose.

    My strategy in bullet games against a lone bishop is to first put all my material on the opposite color if possible. Then worry about escorting your own pawns or scooping up material. Saves a lot of thinking time…

    Been stuck on 1500 for like 5 years and like a year ago when covid started I finally got to 1600. Was the happiest moment of my life.... Until I fell back to 1500. But now I have been pretty much stable 1600 for a while now and dont feel like falling anymore.
