As soon as he said to Celebrimbor, "call it a gift", I knew. The way they revealed the Stranger's true identity with "always follow your nose" was fun too. I mean, they've thrown out any pretense of trying to be faithful to Tolkien's original story, but whatever. They still need to improve the writing for next season either way. But can we talk about how AMAZING Galadriel looked in that green dress? Oh my heart is all a-flutter!

Yeah but Sauron took the form of annatar the elven lord of gifts and Gandalf wasn’t in the second age, he was born in the third age maybe this was radigast or possibly Tom Bombadil(nobody really knows what Tom bombadil is but the guy doesn’t look like he ages in the third age and he is immune to the ring’s influence)

@@Exile19941 Mate, keep in mind, Amazon does not have the legal right to use the plot, character arcs, stories, or anything associated to the Silmarilion under any condition. Conturary to the OPs comment, it was never going to be their choice how close they could get to the OG lore. Tolkien Estates sealed that one in stone when they were not given rights to use the Silmarilion. And with the Appendacies being so vague, its not like they had a whole lot to go on from the beginning. The details you are picking at just are not at their disposal. Additionally, they have had to reconstruct the entire timeline to be filmable, with is going to lead to a lot of discrepancies. There really isn't much they could do about that either.

@@christopherpoet458 but at least try to have things that doesn’t contradict the lore cause elves don’t really trust humans much they mostly see all of them as power hungry so like make halbrand an elf or half elf I get it but if the stranger isn’t Gandalf and I hope it’s not the he should be a blue wizard or Tom bombadil cause we never got a chance to see him in the movies even though everyone wanted him in the movies plus Tolkien never explained what Tom bombadil is like is he a wizard or a different being entirely

@@Exile19941 Well, they havent yet. Helbrand is one human. And we have seen a few moments of tension between elves and humans in the southlands. So we know they don't particularly like each-other. We also know for season 2, the divide in Numenor is probably going to see more prevalence. Having an exception in Helbrand is probably because Helbrand is Sauron and therefore he actually isn't even human. He is Mia. So it doesn't tarnish the human/elf dynamic. Going to be honest, it is probably Gandlaf. If you were watching a show being made in a similar fashion to Lord of the Rings, I would be willing to wager it being a Blue Wizard. However, we are not and while Amazon is making a show from a multi-billion dollar IP, they are a company first, not a passion project. As such, it is just below reasonable to expect that where they can, they will go for characters related to the existing media before making their own. They would rather get people pulled in by characters they know than create new ones. At the end of the day, the numbers of attendance will be higher and unfortunately, that is all the corporate sector of the company is going to care about. Does not matter how the writer feels or how the director feels. If they aren't pulling the numbers their bosses want them to pull, they will get taken off the project. If its not Gandalf, I will be quite happy. But if it is, I get why. I won't be as happy but I get why they would choose him over the blue Wizards.
Charlie Vickers said Sauron does not see Galadriel as a love interest but rather a possible powerful political ally who he can share power with. Vickers was told he was Sauron after he finished with the raft scene in episode 2. This led the actor to read everything about Sauron in Tolkien's books and letters to understand the Dark Lord as a character. Vickers also explored that Sauron was brought to a low point after Morgoth's defeat and is conflicted about what to do. In other words, ROP's Sauron had no direction regarding what to do. Sauron did try to repent in Numenor and start a new life but Galadriel's actions really did motivate him to become the Dark Lord he once wanted to be. Vickers even explored how Adar and Sauron really have a complex and hating relationship that will probably be shown in Season 2. Vickers confirmed Sauron tried to kill Galadriel by having her drown in the river before he left for Mordor. Vickers also hopes that he might one day get to wear the Sauron armored suit in future seasons. Fun fact, Vickers was confused when he was taught the word "shipping" (relationship shipping) by Morfydd Clark. He didn't see Sauron having a love interest with Galadriel but more of a desire for a political alliance under his rule. Also, an interviewer said that he was told by the showrunners that Season 2 will be Sauron-focused and that he will be the primary main character and antagonist. Sauron will be the character mostly depicted in Season 2 similar to how Galadriel was the character mostly depicted in Season 1. Season 2 will cover Sauron's operations and manipulations in Middle Earth. Charlie Vickers (Sauron) might be the star of Season 2. What a load of crap
finally someone appreciated the ending music
The best thing that they emphasize about Halbrand & Galadriel is that they both have the exact same trauma driving them. The same way that Galadriel felt powerless when she wasn't given more power by king Gil-galad is how Sauron felt under the dark lord Morgoth. They feel genuine remorse about the damage caused but it's entangled with their need to be the one who brings about that healing. The flaw is that Sauron fundamentally cannot recognize the difference between bringing about safety & peace for Middle Earth, and bringing about his own rule over others. That's why he and Galadriel cannot ever bring that balance together, because power of one brings corruption, but divided between two only brings division. It's why Galadriel has to give up her dagger, why she remains mostly removed from the conflict during the Fellowship, and also gives up the One Ring itself when Frodo arrives there. It's only when you have _three_ that you're able to find a balance with that power. That's why the path to end the rule of darkness from the One Ring is done by the Hobbits who have no desire to rule over others at all AND there are three who compete the quest: Frodo, Golum, & Sam. It would have failed if any one of them didn't complete that journey.

Remember when Halbrand said to Adar “remember me?”. Hits different now!
the last thing the wizard said to Nori is the biggest clue about who he is. hint: Frodo and the others get lost in Moria, and at the end there is something said when they finally remember which way to go :)

I loved this series!! Although I enjoyed Andor and she-hulk this is my current favorite show to watch. Galadriel Durin and Nori are my favorite characters!
One of Sauron’s many names is The Great Deceiver, and it is said the best lies have some truth in them, well he lived up to that title. Not once did he truly lie to any of them, and yet he manipulated them so perfectly by making all those who helped them think it was their idea. Damn Charlie Vickers was perfectly cast. As for the scenes with The Stranger and Nori, I did not think I was gonna cry this episode, but when Nori said goodbye to her family and then when Poppy ran up to her and hugged her I couldn’t help but cry. What truly is upsetting is that rather than shoot seasons 1, 2, and 3 back to back to back Amazon Studios only JUST started production on season 2 as of this video being released. And the show runners have said it will be YEARS before we see the next season. So while I’m still going to watch season 2 I’m afraid that most people will completely forget about the show by then. Show runner have still not said who the stranger is. So I'm wondering if they are actually gonna trick us all into thinking it's Gandalf bc of that "Follow your nose line" I mean if they wanted to they could make this stranger be the one who meets Gandalf centuries later and Gandalf picks up that line from him. Same thing with the moths. That could be something that relates to only certain types of Wizards. But I guess we'll see in season 2.

well I have no problem with people liking and really enjoying the show. Personally i am a bit disappointed about it. Especially the stuff they made up about Mithril and the elves needing it to live longer than next spring really rubbed me the wrong way. It was totally unnecessary to make that up. After all the sun and the moon are the lights of the 2 trees as well and so is Earendil the morning star. I did enjoy that last episode it was one of the better ones, the scene with Halbrand and Galadriel were really good (even if it makes Galadriel responsible for Saurons second comeback) as were the scenes with the stranger and the mystics. You have to forget the lore there because with the kind of power they showed or at least the one with the staff they would have to be Maiar like the stranger is. No human could shape shift like that. It is nice to see if someone really enjoys a tv show and it show in the reaction. Name calling is not necessary in neither direction.
This was an amazing finale. Favorite part is for sure the Halbrand dropping all pretenses and going full Sauron. Here’s hoping next season deals with the forging of the dwarves rings so we could get more Durin content. Very happy how this show has been handled. Everyone in the cast and crew deserve recognition.

Amazon didnt get the complete rights of Lord of the rings......Happy to see that even some tolkien readers liked this series, there are those youtubers who call themselves tolkein pro and talked all kind of shit about the series, lol they dnt even have the knowledge about what rights amazon have and what not about LOTR...
you sure you got enough gay shit on the wall?
There's this "critic" of the show I really hate, whose initials are CD. He is a intellectually dishonest, outrage grifter, who subsides on bad faith. Refusing to engage with any media, or their source material, beyond a superficial level, he shallowly takes scenes at face value to attract easy clicks through misinterpretation of whatever is currently trending, (especially if its in any way progressive looking) through the use of inflammatory arguments and hyperbole, long before they'rs even out. And the so called, "writing experience" his fanatics claim he has as a "writer amount to derivative fanfics. Anyway I'm glad many like you are actually giving this a shot instead of being taken in the web of Internet culture war nonsense these guys profiteer off.
That suspicion that Sauron is disguised as her would be an interesting twist, it isn't part of the lore but there is open space in it for that to be possible, just not canonical. As far as the show goes Sauron could have tossed her into the water and taken the dagger to get them to make what he wanted, perhap having stolen part of the alloy to take with him after as well. Here would be another interesting twist, the next season Celeborn being the one to find her.
