I kinda wish we could've seen more from Halbrand/Celebrimbor, the forging of the rings kinda felt a little bit rushed to me. But that's the only thing I remember that kinda bothered me about this episode. my mind was a mess after this episode, there are so many things I forgot to talk about in the end 😂 but I don't remember what exactly it was anymore ... maybe I'll remember it when I'm editing Part 2 of this 😅 idk what I'm even doing here, it's 5am and I'm still trying to upload this XD

Yes I agree! this part of the rings also felt a bit rushed and confusing to me, but I think it's because I was still holding too much to what I know from the books and they clearly switched a lot of things up, the elven rings were the last made in the books but here it's implied to me they are being the first, which makes sense according to the plotline they are following. But overall, great episode, even knowing that Halbrand could be Sauron his reveal gave me chills!! I loved their mind conversation

Since before the release of this series I was commenting to some friends that I thought they wouldn't use Annatar in the show (as many people wanted) and the reason for that is that it would make TOO obvious who Sauron was, and people who have read the books would immediatley know and point it out to others. So creating a new character to portray the same role gives more room for speculation and bets, which for a TV format, is a perfect ingredient to make the audience engaged.

I think it was a smart decision too :) and we still might get our fair Annatar form somewhere down the line, but at least in this way we book readers got to enjoy the speculation game a little bit as well :3

Which means that Galadriel will no doubt see through his lies like in the book. Halbrand was just used to show people Sauron's easy influence and deception

I was waiting all day for your reaction!! I pointed out that Halbrand could be Sauron just by watching the trailers even before the series release 😅 but still I got CHILLS when he revelaed himself, that whole sequence is amazing. I like how they tied up all Galadriel's journey, and the fact that in her obsession she ended up being blind to the devil nearby, showing that ends don't justify means. She was way too eager to fight evil at all costs that she started becoming terrible as well. Great series overall, had some bumps and things I would have liked different, but there is still room for improvement for the next seasons, sad thing we'll have to wait so long...

yeah I loved how they tied Galadriel and Halbrand together, she really was blinded by the rage inside of her :)

My best scene is when Halbrand shows himself as Sauron and Galadriel his Queen, it's magnificent. And in the eyes of Halbrand we see the reflection of the volcano, he goes to MORDOR.

I feel you, girl! I was a mess in the end too 😂😍 I loved following the series with you, amazing reactions!

I think Halbrand meeting Galadriel on the raft was a nod to Sauron making his escape from being sent to Valinor for judgement after Morgoth's defeat He really did try to be good, but his idea of being good was control. I don't remember if Tolkien's writings ever actually said where he made that escape, or if it even was out at sea near the entrance to Valinor, but he did wind up hiding amongst the people of Middle-earth.

anyone notice how vivid the blue galadriel's eyes are during the mind scenes? I mean, goddamn they are so blue it looked like they were shining from within?

Currently on a Rings of Power spree upon its one year anniversary and I realised I never finished your reaction-vids, which is unforgivable as they are soooo good! So this comment is gonna be for all 10 of your videos, let me tell you it was awesome to see a fellow LotR/Silmarillion fan have such a fun time with s1 (its you and the guys from Blind Wave and Heroes Reforged that gave me hope for humanity) and simply laugh, cry and fangirl throughout 8 episodes. What I found cool about Galadriel and Sauron’s interaction here is the same as in the fellowship. How she had succeeded to not be tempted here and then. It’s so awesome to know how truly strong Galadriel is.

i think he was on the raft in the first episodes cause he gave up after losing to adar. he was sailing to go surrender or beg for forgiveness from the valar.

The Showrunners and Charlie Vickers (Sauron) said that Season 2 will have Sauron as the main star character. Season 2 will cover Sauron's operations and manipulations throughout Middle Earth (possibly in Rhun and Eregion)

I feel that it's some kind of projection mistake that the stranger is supposed to be Gandalf. A lot of viewers and fans wish him to be Gandalf, so he becomes him. Perhaps they're right. But I don't feel that way. In my projection he's becoming one of the blue wizards. Gandalf of LOTR was so much lovely, in the Hobbit too. But I don't need him here.

If you catch most of the dialogue, the whole scene on Eregion took three months. It is implied lots of trial-and-error day and night under three-month time to make it work. Then the time span before preparing for the three rings were in three weeks. Finding the solution took more time than the actual forging. So it is not rush in a sense of: the this whole process only happens within a day or two. Technically, they are indeed in a hurry and trying to do something that normally labored in three centuries according to Celebrimbor.

yeah I noticed it in editing too, and I get that they're in a hurry. I just wish we could've actually seen more of these 3 months than just the little montage :/

I could be wrong, but if I remember so far the show is right. The Elven rings were made first by Sauron (Annatar) and the Elves. They were able to hide those three from Sauron because they put as much of themselves into them as he did. All the other rings were made after by Sauron himself, and gifted to the other races. Then of course he crafted the master ring.

@@jameskinstle6874Sauron taught the smiths the knowledge of how to create Rings. They created the 16 rings. When Sauron departed from Eregion Celebrimbor went on to forge the Three Rings using the knowledge he had gained from Sauron but without his involvement.

Definitely room for improvement in season two but, overall that was a great opening season

Why the f did they remove Galadriel husband just so people can ship her with the dark lord

Hey now, pleasantly disappointed with my thoughts on Halbrand dashed. I was positive his fair form would be an elf. Anyhow I loved the harfoots this episode and the wizard. (Gandalf). I wonder if they actually make it to Rhun…. Durin will die in episode one of season two me thinks. Sauron will consolidate and get his house in order to challenge Numinor. Elves will bicker. Numinors political struggle begins. Hope to see you next season

I think that's because they didn't get the right to The Silmarillion. Annatar is Sauron's fair form. So they took liberty with Halbrand's identity.

I do think they mentioned somewhere that they have a lot of plans for Sauron in the upcoming seasonss and that they wanna take advantage of him being able to shapeshift. So my hopes for at least 'some' Annatar appearances in the future aren't dead yet :)

This is the first on KZread, where someone is exciting for the show. Absolute okay, but RoP is such a disgrace to Tolkiens Lore. I hate this after the first two Episode and it was getting so far away from the Lore. After AmazonPrime rejected to public my one star review, even it doesnt insult anyone, i cancelled my AmazonPrime immediately and will never come back to this shit show.
