Anyone who knew Sauron's history as the Maia spirit Mairon, and his service under Aule the Smith of the Valar, knew the moment Halbrand started geeking out over that forge in Numenor, exactly who he was.

Or when he starts giving Sauron-y advice to Galadriel about mastering others...
Nothing like watching bros getting really into high fantasy, and even rolling their R's on the elvish names. This was fun to watch, especially seeing an honest surprise to the Sauron reveal.

Thanks for watching!
I am browsing through reactions to this episode. You guys are so cute, it is the first time I see a reaction of people who didnt suspect Halbrand to be Sauron^^ There were many clues towards two characters, all along the 7 first episodes: - The stranger (accidents around him, the cold fire, the eye shaped crater, etc) - Halbrand (The rings on his costume, the relation with Adar (Asking if he remembered his face, or Adar saying 'who are you" , etc etc) Your genuine surprise was enjoyeable :)

@@OffTheRip Nah, dont^^ Especially if you are not a big fan of LOTR in the first place. And i still enjoy your reaction way better than the snobs who claim it is "too slow" and always compare it to House of the dragons ^^

@@OffTheRip yeah, i think they got a little too comfy with the pace, knowing in advance that there would be some other seasons in the future. But you know, i even saw a reaction where the guys are saying the scene is slow and too long when Galadriel and Sauron are in the sea^^ lol this is so intense, and yet they complain... Really some think it is cool and hype to rant about this show whatever happens

Yea I definitely think it's easier to give negative comments ab smtg than positive but I know I seem to be too nice when it comes to rating shows lol when I should've probably been more critical, but I try to be as honest as I can
Hello, Off the Rip, The show has relocated from New Zeeland to the UK to film the remaining 4 seasons. Factors that played a role in this decision were the fact that Amazon had already invested in UK studio space for other productions, plus there was the issue of New Zeeland's border policies during Covid, as well as the Tolkien Estate's desire for the series to be filmed in the UK since J. RR Tolkien was inspired by locations there while writing his stories. Plus, I have read it will also be cheaper to film the remaining seasons there as well. They recently wrapped production on the second season in June amid the dual actors/writers' strike. I have also read a report yesterday in the Cinemaholic that Amazon has renewed "Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power" for a third season & that production will start in Hertfordshire, a non-metropolitan county located in Southern England as production on the remaining seasons is already underway there. I hope that we get all three remaining seasons & that they are filmed back-to-back just like "The Hobbit" & "Lord of the Rings" trilogies did. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the series. I trust that you are looking forward to the remaining 4 seasons as much as I am.
What an awesome episode!
Actually I was suspecting Halbrand was Sauron since episode 3 when he was suspiciously interested in the numenorian forge, manipulates one of the smiths to steal his badge and goes off on him later in an rampage of fury and almost kill a lot of man who were supposed to be "better" than him. He was a mysterious man who was a lot more than he was letting out, he taught Galadriel how to manipulate the queen in Numenor. But I was really sure it was him in episode 6, when he almost kills Adar and asks if Adar remembers him. Adar says "no" and he goes straight to Adar's throat, being interrupted by Galadriel. When she is interrogating Adar, he says he killed Sauron. Obviously he believes he did kill Sauron, and if he really tried, that would explain Halbrand's reaction and the line: "Remember me?" If you listened carefully to what Adar says in that episode, he is the first one to describe what Sauron was trying to do: craft a power "not of flesh, but over flesh... a power of the unseen world". And these are the exact words Celebrimbor uses in this eps. to try and convince Gil Galad to continue the experiments on mithril. That's exactly why Galadriel looks at him with suspicion and asks if Halbrand was with him. I don't know how much you guys are familiar with the books' lore, but there Sauron has a "fair form" known as Annatar, which means "lord of gifts", and he manipulates Celebrimbor into forging the rings. So, since the show doesn't have the rights to adapt this exact storyline with Annatar, they chose the path of a mystery drama to play "where is Sauron" giving a lot of clues (some fake, some true) of who could him be. The three main suspects were Halbrand, The Stranger and Adar. So yes, the pacing of the show is "strange" for some, because it is basic a mystery to try and discover where is Sauron. The scene were Galadriel unmasks him, it's the "killer reveal". And if you come back and rewatch everything, you guys will catch a LOT of clues that Halbrand was Sauron. PS.: We never even seen Halbrand being hurt. The chances are he caused himself the wound after the battle just to be taken by Galadriel to Eregion and have access to their forge, since his plan to use Numenor's forge was interrupted.

at 34:59 how did you not recognize the iconic line of Gandalf in The Fellowship of the Ring? 'When in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose'.

Why did they need to "alloy" the three metals to make three rings of separate elements?
Somehow everyone seemed to know he was Sauron from the get go lol. I have to admit without the internet I prob wouldn't have figured it out. I was getting suspicious of how much he knew about smithing though. What King is a blacksmith?

@@stephanl2409 here goes another one comparing the two... This is a trend where people feel cool snobbing Rings of power ("it is so slow, blablabla ") and feel like they must underline how House of the dragon is better ^^ It is ok to have préférences, but i cant help to smile at the hype herd
