I was a bartender for many years and wherever I worked I always put his show on when I came on duty. He had so many fans, not only people at home with their families but also people at bars who loved watching his show, because he was such a great and fun guy to watch. R.I.P. Mr.Trebek thank you for the thirty years where you made the lives of your vast audience more enjoyable. I remember the way he talked. He always sounded intelligent but somehow never condescending. I never thought until now how hard it is to pull that off when telling someone the correct answer to a question they got wrong. Even now, I can easily imagine him telling a contestant what the correct answer would have been and then quickly move on. I also had always wondered how well he would perform if he were a contestant on Jeopardy.

When he announced he had stage IV cancer we sorta knew this day will come, but never expected it to come so soon. Nothing more apt than Alex's last episode being broadcast on Christmas Day as a parting gift for all of us. Rest in peace Alex Trebek, you've touched so many lives around the world. ~~authentically, a nice guy. He did what he loved doing right up until he had to leave. I'll miss him.

This feels a little like losing Fred Rogers...just a thoughtful, kind man who was there for us with great entertainment for so long. And right after news of one of his contestants thanking him for teaching him english (as he sat in his grandfather's lap watching Jeopardy)

I watch the show when I'm visiting my father... really appreciate Mr. Trebek and what he did. I'm going to record and save the final episode just to make sure my dad sees it.

He saved lives by being open about his cancer.

I loved Alex and truly admired and how he brought attention to this evil disease.My mom also had pancreatic cancer and to watch Alex doing the show show every nite and still with such enthusiasm was truly remarkable if u know anything about this cancer. Truly a man of great courage and grace.

@@robn2171 This is an oftentimes political news channel. Democrats and Republicans swarm this channel actively, mainly with a political outlook in mind. I'd argue that there is obviously a political interest with any video posted here, so posting the message above simply dignifies that this video transcends the worry of that. While I get your point on a base-level, Fox News viewers will probably storm this place and spam political filth in the comments regardless; those are the people who make it political, not this guy. Had this been a comment on a gaming channel, I would have agreed that a comment like this makes things unnecessarily political-or maybe this comment on an animal channel. A better analogy for you would be somebody commenting "Whether you're a lion, a monkey, or a polar bear, we can all agree this is sad" on a channel that is literally 99 percent of the time talking about individuals who are lions, monkeys, and bears. It doesn't seem so random if you actually look at the context of what and where this guy is saying this. And, beyond all of that, people like you who go and cry about a non-harmful comment are just sad. Seriously, go find something fun to do and stop letting silly things like this make you upset.

You accuse him of getting upset and you tell him not to get all bent out of shape and not to get upset but you are the one that just wrote half of a book after getting upset! The hypocrisy

“We love him and we miss him already.” That line literally brought tears to my eyes. I still can’t believe he’s gone. I remember watching Jeopardy every night just for him. Trebek was a national treasure. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Mr. Trebek.

It feels like losing a friend. We didn't know him personally but he came into our living rooms every evening for 37 years.

My condolences to the family. He had a beautiful spirit.

Alex seemed like a genuinely nice man. Sorry to see him go.

I go back with Jeopardy to the Don Pardo and Art Fleming days. Thank you Alex Trebek for bringing so much joy, and at times frustration at clues at which I had no clue. Always classy, always professional and forever the best game show host in TV history. And the answer is : Recognized as the best game show in history. Contestant: What is Jeopardy, Alex?

Man, I'm 43 and grew up with him.. He will definitely be missed and Jeopardy will never be the same without him..

When I heard this story, my heart all of the sudden just stopped, just finding out that cancer can’t be stopped from slowing his progress. 80 years is a full life and Alex never gave up on fighting it. He will surely be missed, with his last episode to air on Christmas Day 2020 on a Friday. R.I.P.

Always loved him and tried to never miss his show. A scholar and a gentleman. Don't see many men as GREAT. May he rest in peace and prayers for the family and friends☮️🙏

He’s had that comforting voice and I always enjoyed watching Jeopardy. Especially with my pap when he was alive. Thank you for bringing joy and humor into our living rooms all these years. RIP Alex

So glad you came into our lives... You were a true gentleman who loved your family and your fellow man... Rest in Peace, my friend.

That made me cry. He knew so much, but he was never condescending or conceited about it. He was polite to everyone no matter how wrong their answers were. Instead of just letting those moments pass he explained or gave a bit of information about the right answer. I am very grateful that I lived in a generation that was able to see a man with great character all the time. He is a TV legend.

When you’re dealing with devastating issues it helps to focus your mind on other things. This is likely the main reason Alex Trebek continued to work as long as he did.

“I'm curious about everything. Even subjects that don't interest me”.- Alex Trebek😭💔💔🙏🏽 RIP, my friend.

His hosting of The James Holzhauer streak as well as The Greatest of All Time Game with Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, and James Holzhauer was the very best television I’ve ever watched.

Ohhh... : [ I am so sad .. but he is no longer suffering .. It was a very long and painful battle. He will be sorely missed... My sincere heartfelt condolences to all those closest to him, who are feeling this loss most acutely.

I'm still crying, crying hard like a baby. Crying the way I do for both my late parents. Alex was/IS LIKE A DAD TO US ALL. He taught us all so much and will be missed greatly.

May he Rest In Peace and may God comfort his wife and family. His final show will air on Christmas......what a loving gift to his millions of fans. 🙏🏻

Jeopardy will never be the same. It's so painful to lose good people.

Rest in peace, no more pain. Alex worked everyday day eventhough he felt ill. What a special man, never to be replaced. God bless and bring Alex comfort. 💐

2020 is the year where lots of my heroes are passing away, this man was somebody my father watched all of my childhood. I just wish I were alive a lot sooner to see more of my heroes.

Last week I was just binge watching Jeopardy on Netflix thinking to myself wow watching Alex talk takes me back to childhood .😔

R.I.P. A great man. And an intelligent man as well. He will be missed. May God comfort his family & friends.

He wasn't just the best game show host, he was an honest, sincere, compassionate human being that will surely be missed by everyone. He is without a doubt irreplaceable!!

He put up one of the best fights I had seen since Michael Landon. He was such an inspiration to us all! God Bless his family and extended, and Thank you for sharing him with us for so many years!!!
