No, he didn't get paid for being an attorney. Attorneys don't pay the money out themselves for multiple things. Attorneys do not pay taxes if they would. The retainer was for $0. The remaining $60,000 was severance because he as an employee could not have a retainer.

Trump is claiming that it is a retainer, but at the same time he claims reimbursement in a court filing. Trump can easily show where he reimbursed him, but I'm betting that the defense will never show this as it doesn't exist.

Using it as a business expense on income tax forms is a crime.
When does a suggestion make something a fact? A piece of paper that suggests Trump was involved does not prove reasonable doubt. Stand alone piece of paper doesn't even prove that Wisenberg and Cohen were in the same room. It just proves that both made notes on the same paper but could have been done days apart.

@herballycorrect according to New York law, the statute of limitations can be extended. For example, if the person that committed the crime no longer lives in the state, which applies to Trump. It can also be extended if the governor pauses the statute of limitations, which Governor Cuomo did during COVID-19. So there you go. Your argument has been debunked. 👍

I agree with Lenny Davis, jurors that are honest, always look for corroborating facts and evidence whether it be circumstantial or otherwise, as long as it's in line with the judge instructions. Therefore jurors would need common sense to follow instructions rather than any biased emotions or nonsense.

Michael Cohen is completely believable to me now. I watched his testimony to Congress and was very impressed with his ability to see the picture of what Trump is, and speak to it. Cohen was heroic. His integrity was beyond others who had not lied. Because he spoke truth in that testimony. In the court now, from what I've read, Cohen again takes the cake. In this time, he's admitting to his rude names for Trump, taht are only a few of what people love to call Trump and Cohen wins for his authenticity and accountability and for his humor.

Yeah, that is what the prosecutors says since the beginning. The case is not about hush money but election interference. Trump made false financial statements and he did that for his campaign. Do you remember when he was going down in the polls after the Access Hollywood tape? Soon after that, he arranged to pay Stormy Daniels and disguised it in his financial records. He is charged for the disguise. It was not shown as money paid to a porn star but legal fees - misdemeanour - and he did that to hide information to electors - felony or crime. You need to follow the live updates. I guess you don't follow the news or you just rely on what Trump and the right-wing media say? There is a moment we have to make the effort to seek the truth.
