I think the most interesting proof games will contain some crazy mix of en passant, castling, checks, pawn captures and underpromotion. To be composed in a way that there is only a unique possibility to do it.

I don't fully agree, I really like the way that each of these puzzles had different ways to go about them, for example I managed to get the 3rd puzzle in one move less than Chess Vibes, and I think it was a lot of fun to find my own way of doing each of these puzzles, cuz each of my solutions were all different to his, and even the proof games. But yes, I'd love to see a really hard one way solution of these, would be a lot of fun!

@@HairCutsEmo yeah "most interesting" is definitely debatable. I think what I meant is more the "most hard" proof games. Also I agree that to get something in as little moves as possible, or at exactly a certain move number when it's hard to waste moves for some reason, could be an interesting concept for this puzzle type.

@@HairCutsEmo just like the reply above me, please don't confuse the most interesting puzzles with the hardest puzzles. Sure, the most interesting ones are not that hard, but they're fun because of the variations of solutions. The hardest ones may even be not fun just because of its complexity. A mix of them is the best.

Yeah, it's not really possible to force a proof game with en passant since in your solution you can always just push that pawn only up one square and capture it ending up in the same position
Whoever sent the first proof game has successfully shown no Mercy for a chess master. LOL
You had it at 13:40. All you had to do was: 1.exf6 nc6 2.kf1 nb8 3.bh6#
Looks interesting. The first things I figures out before watching you were: a. 9 out of 10 of black's missing pieced were taken by white's pawns. b. white needs 12 moves to get his pawns into position. With 3 bishop moves and one king move, there are 4 moves remaining c. the missing black b-pawn had to have been taken by white's queen because it's the only piece that can get there in time (2 moves). d. white's queen was then captured by black's bishop, which then moved to f4 and was captured by the g- pawn. e. that's 18 of white's 20 move limit accounted for. most likely, the missing rook made one of those two moves, unless captured by a black knight which was then captured on g3 by the h-pawn. Now I'll watch the video and see how close I was...
It's definitely a lot of fun watching you point out all the little idiosyncrasies in the position and then reasoning out the solution! I hope you select mine for an upcoming video!!!
25:06 "What in the world... what in the wo- (chuckles)" hahaha King reaction! 😆👌 but honestly that really was cool, really cool. 💯
On the first puzzle, my thought on removing the b pawn was to go b5 and then get the black Q or light-squared bishop to c4 so you could just take with your queen and retake with your light squared bishop.
Those proof games are surprisingly really fun, it's so different to normal chess. Btw this kind of content might be really fun in live streams, since they're puzzles and not actual games there is no timer ticking down so there is no time pressure and interaction with the viewers is way easier. Also figuring things out with the chat together might be fun and instructional for everyone.
Just for the heck of it, I'd love to see you guess the stockfish eval of these insane positions once you solve them.

At 13:41, you can just play 1.exf7 Nc6 2.Kf1 Nb8 3.Bh6#
sound foam only helps with acoustic treatment ( as in making it sound better inside the room) not isolation btw
I'm excited for the next one! They're really interesting. One question: Can I send multiple proof games?
@ChessVibesOfficial
2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can, although I do have to sift through a lot so I'll be looking for the interesting ones that preferably have some sort of "theme" like the 6 pawns on the same file, or rooks behind pawns, etc.

@@ChessVibesOfficial Thanks for the info!
basic chess: doubled pawns are bad meanwhile this position: 6 pawns between 2 kings on a single file leading to a mate
Sextupled pawns... good god

Fun video, would definitely watch more of these
Nelson could you please do a quick video on the fundamentals of playing WITH & AGAINST the ISOLATED D PAWN. It's a common occurrence I am sure you will agree. I also think you should occasionally poll your viewers as to what content they would like Keep up the good work mate!!!
An interesting difference on the last proof is that when you finished it was black's turn and when when the other person finished it was white's turn.
I may have missed something, but on your solution for your first puzzle it looked as if you moved black's queen twice in a row. As for the last puzzle, I think it needed to take that path to have it be on white's turn. Your solution left it on black's turn. (it's also why I suspect the first one was flipped to black's perspective as White was the last one to make a move.)
Raymond Smullyan calls them retrograde analysis, and has written a couple of excellent book based on Sherlock Holmes and the Arabian Nights.
It’s too bad that 16-move solution exists (and possibly 17- and 18-move solutions). Finding that optimal 19-move solution would have been fun.
that was actually fun!
13:40 just let black move the king or knight to a legal square randomly
13:44 can't you go like king f1 knight c6 pawn g7 knight b8 bishop h7 mate?
I like this types of videos.
on move nine proof game one there was mate in two for white after 10.Qh5+ Kf8 11.Qf7#.
When you want to prove that stacking moves isn't that bad😂
I managed to solve the first one after a little while, very fun
That 2nd one would be a fun starting position
I'm sure this guy has a clear mind. After all, "Who thinks clearly, he clearly states"
14:00 you didn't have to backtrack here. You could have gotten the final position by continuing Kf1 Kg8 exf7+ Kf8 Bh6#
14:00 bruh you had it at this point just take rook and nf6 kf1 ng8 bh6
What was the website at 1:20 called again? I couldn't really hear it.
If you have a pawn, blocked by an opposing king, how can the pawn have the right to move diagonally?
LOL. When you said, _"Oh no! I forgot about the bishop!"_ I laughed so hard I scared one of my cats who was sitting on my lap.

@@depagogd1426 LOL. He knows I didn't mean it. He knows I love him.
Maybe you should start at the starting position and then you should use 40 moves To get back to that exact position
ah yes reminds me how you can get a draw without getting anyone killed in this war between black and white
insert the line "no repetition of moves" makes proof 3's solution the "correct" one right?
@schrodingerskatze4308

But I think repetition of moves would mean that both players repeat because one move is when white moves and then black moves as far as I know.
I managed to find a 18 move solution for the first position. That one was very challenging! 1. c4 d5 2. cxd5 e5 3. d4 Be6 4. dxe6 Bd6 5. exf7+ Kf8 6. dxe5 Nf6 7. exf6 Qd7 8. e4 Qf5 9. exf5 h5 10. Qg4 hxg4 11. Bg5 g3 12. hxg3 Bf4 13. gxf4 b5 14. Bxb5 Rxh1 15. Bc4 Rh3 16. Kf1 Rf3 17. gxf3 g6 18. Bh6#

New requirement to compete in Grand Master Chess Tournaments: Participants must show the moves required for certain proof games. 😅😊👍
Hi nelson
WHY that happened we will never know but we can explain how
Everyone is dumb until they realize that they are dumb.!
I believe that these were not valid solutions actually. The move order needs to be unique. Wasting moves is therefor not allowed as it very rarely is a unique solution. The correct solution is always the shortest one as well. For example the last game - the 19 move solution is actually THE solution to the problem and it's the shortest solution that respects the rules. I know I probably didn't explain it well. Basically if your solution ever has a statement in form of "I could either move this piece to this square or that square", it's NOT the correct solution. Obviously this makes the problem MUCH MUCH harder. :)
Definitely trying this in doubles hahahahahaha wtf
I am probably stating the obvious but I am sure they are called proof games as you need prove the moves just like a proof in mathematics.
14:05 you literally had it solved bruh

Wow this is sick like whats the meaning of this puzzle? And really black just sacs all their peices???? Not only that like its like they played this way on purpose But bo doubt i liked it was funny
