I hope young and new chess players really appreciate what they are being freely given. Daily access to a GM of your caliber is insane. That’d be like Kasparov or Fischer streaming daily chess content when I was a kid. The only daily chess content that we got when I was a kid was the daily chess puzzle in the newspaper.

@@tusharmuraliold technically he is is as good as Magnus, is just that when they are playing at their best, Magnus finds the extremely small edge he has and wins the game (only in slow games). There is no way Magnus can give better advice (or viceversa) to a 2k player than Hikaru, on that front I would say that even Hikaru has the upper hand as he understand better that kind of players. Anyway, not even Hikaru or Magnus or Aronian, I will go and say that even someone like Narodistky is better at explaining GM strategy to us mortals and that information has even more value to 99.99% of chess players.

@@tusharmuraliold I also disagree. Hikaru is at the level of any chess player that ever played the game. I mean, he reached 2800, he stoped as he found a career on streaming, and that is when he started being the fastest player.

@@tusharmuraliold my comparison was centered on content and availability. Basically you can insert ANY GM’s name you want from yesteryear and put his or her name in my original comment and it would be relevant bc the Chess content available today litterally didn’t exist 35 years ago when I learned how to play. I just stated 2 Chess GM’s names who I thought the entire comment section would know who I was referring to. There was no comparison in game quality; but rather the simple fact that this sort of content even exists.
The man who is known for the king Indian, is teaching it to us. Exactly what we wanted
We must appreciate how he takes out his time for teaching us openings to learn 😊😊

yeah I’ve always needed something against d4 since Caro is a e4 opening and I don’t like d5 because I’m lazy and don’t feel like learning Queen’s Gambit theory.
Probably one of my favorite things about Hikaru's teaching style is how he explains why certain moves/tactics are strong vs weak vs what was played *and* how to think through calculations. Great video!!!
15:08 Good to see the legend "Ben from the Dover Cliffs in England" featured in this video🤣
I always wanted to learn the Kings Indian Defence! Thank you for your time!

because gotham makes videos for people who are just getting started with chess. If a beginner will try to learn king's indian defense from this video, chances are they will hang mate in 1
Although my 1000 rated brain can't keep up with a lot of Hikaru's analysis I love how he doesn't shy away from explaining more basic principles and simple moves in among, so there's always something useful I can take away that isn't completely over my head. 👍👍👍

Hikaru and Levy are basically my virtual chess coaches at this point, pretty lucky to live in this day and age.. I'm at the stage Hikaru's explanation makes perfect sense as he explains it, but as I sit down and play I don't "see" it but that's a start !

Ben from the Dover cliffs :) that made me smile, very smoothly dealt with ;) Also great content, thanks
30:13 haha thought you could be sneaky hikaru!
This is amazing. Thank you hikaru for this absolute treat. I hope to see many more kings Indians in the future!
15:06 Hikaru passed the test😂😂
Awesome, Hikaru!! Gonna watch right now, rooting for it :D ++please create a playlist with all your opening videos!! They are so good they will become reference :')
Lovin the instructional content Hikaru Keep it up 👍 🎉🎉
I really appreciate how complex hikaru gets with these teaching videos!! Really opens up a whole other dimension on the board
The fact that you're sharing this is freaking amazing
When I play a game, I have like 8 inaccuracies/mistakes (I'm only like 1200-1300), and I always look at them and go "hmm I don't get it - whatever." so Hikaru talking through positional inaccuracies is so so so helpful in learning.
Ben for Dover😂✨ gold
Thank you for the video. These review/instructional analysis are really great!
The end game tips are some of the most helpful bits. Everything else just way over my head. Thanks anyway!! And bless you, Hikaru!
Hikaru sensei for the win again! 👉🏻👈🏻
LOL, Ben Dover was a classic playground joke in England.
A lesson from THE expert himself!
Kings Indian has been my favorite opening for a while and this video has been long awaited for me, awesome
My favorite response to queens pawn openings! Lets see what else I can learn to improve it
@GMHikaru best coach the way he explained every move win my heart ❤keep it up waiting for the moment when he is the world champion🎉❤
Was looking forward to this!!
"Ben from Dover, the Dover cliffs in England" Hikaru broooooooooooo! 😂 This is like watching a mini "Hikaru reacts to memes" episode!
I learnt so much from this video. Had to slow it down to .75 as his grace speaks so damn fast
I've started playing the King's Indian Defense. It can lead to some interesting games. Still not up to par with it yet, but from the lines that I have seen so far, it can result in some interesting matches.
Was just looking at your game against Gelfand yesterday, epic attack!
Tysm ive been looking for a good kings indian video for ages
Thank you! This is a master class
Thank you so much for the tutorial ❤️
Ben from the dover 😂😂😂😭
THIS IS ABSOLUTE GOLD!! for anyone wanting to play the KID this is prolly the best video to understand the basic principles. And you have the best KID player in the world explaining it to you so that does'nt hurt much too.
Thanks for King’s Indian video
How that "WELCOME" sound so satisfying 😁
Infrequent watcher just because I’m not into faster time control stuff, but so happy I saw this - wonderful explanations throughout. Beginner me will be looking over all of the “learn with Hikaru” videos at a slower speed and pausing to digest🙏

If you really want to see him give instructive advice on the non speed chess games, watch his analysis and game review playlist. Very inciteful breakdown of high quality games
Let's fucking go! Hikaru literally dropped a lesson for two opening I use the most. Feeling blessed
hikaru teaching kid gotta be the most powerful thinggg
I think it’s neat that he points out what I figured out on my own. I’m not good enough to win with the Grunfeld defense.
Watching such a video is amazing. We live in a era that allow us to have the best chess player of our time to give us a chess lesson completely for free
Golden nuggets. Thank you!
One thing I've learned from Hikaru, sometimes the best move is a pawn move or sacrifice to free up the scope of a knight or bishop.
Thank you hikaru for taking your time to make such great content! Keep up the great work ❤
Hikaru is one of the best of the best of playing the King's Indian. It's fun studying his games!
that queen tip is pretty nice, its also cool trying to make every piece immortal xD
Hikaru: “This is for intermediate players, and now lets go full speed” 😅
Learning how to play the King Indian Position. Very solid.
That’s really cool!! Thegreat man himself teaches you the opening of a murderer!
Hikaru is awesome. Wow. What an incredible depiction of such an old yet timeless game :P !
lol i was just looking for an opening vid. hikaru really sees into the future
kings indian pretty much work for everything, doesnt matter what ur opponent plays, you can always use kings indian
Hikaru is the GM we need but not the GM we deserve 😅
This and the caro kann are my best defenses as black, im happy to say hikaru has taught me how to be a monster with the KID defense
Kings Indian defence makes me feel attacked all the time
Hikaru i just wanna say dont worry about the chess streaming award , just keep doing what you do and the award will be guaranteed in the future , no one from the nominated is even close to your chess knowledge . I enjoy watching your videos and i learnd so much from you . Thank you have a nice day
Fantastic video! Hope for more KID!!!
Did he move back to his old place? The last time I watched he moved to a new one :D love watching this guy, must've come down from chess heaven to teach.
Also consider making a tutorial on Alekhine and grunfeld defence
15:45 Incorrect by Hikaru. In the exchange caro-kann there are also instances where it is sound to develop the knight to the edge of the board.
Hikaru be dodging BenDover name like dodging mate in losing position...
After playing loads of King's Indian games, I have realized that you can mess up very quickly. This lesson was really good.
I requested hikaru on tomorrow video to make video about kings Indian defense video and he made the video 😍
0:41 i thought those were the years the game was played
sir your are the one goats of chess plz create videos on kings indian defence of all varitions
You sir are by far the most entertaining chess player of this era.
Welcome back everyone
Very incredible opening
only Hikaru could call a 1900 match a “lower level match”
This is pure gold
lovely my favorite defense
In the end game with baby yoda, I think they were mostly treating it as a rook + king end game to avoid stalemate. I do the same thing because I can keep my queen a safe distance and don’t accidentally stalemate 😅
That was a 7 minute [] about Knights that totally drained me
The speed of the teaching highlights his knowledge of the game.
every time I hear kings Indian I think of the beautiful game against Wesley so when Hikaru got 6 brilliant moves in a row
Ben... from the Dover cliffs >_>
I love these types of videos
Hikaru sensei 💯❤️🔥
He goes soooo fast lol. It's seems like autopilot lol. Superb lessons!
funny that ive been wanting to king's indian defense for a while
thank you really much for explaning this defense! now i can finally beat my grandpa with this!
Thank you Hikaru I love your videos so muuuuch❤❤❤
I have such a difficult time following the speed at which Hikaru teaches. I just feel like I'm not good enough yet to learn from a master like him.
This is great videos series bud
A lesson from the king of the KID in the KID. Please more from this!
Hikaru thank you for allowing me to take a picture with you. Unlike Magnus he didn’t let me
Hikaru is just so cool
and he sacrifices… THE ROOK
This guide is great for when my opponent makes logical moves… sadly, this is a bit of a rarity lol. I’m almost at 900 ELO rn, with about 80% winrate. This opening is amazing but I often get put into messy positions by my opponent when they over extend their pieces in an attempt to pressure
Thanks for posting
Bless you Hikaru😂😂. Glad to see you keep it real and I hope to see many more great opening lessons from you! ♥️ It is truly the best content any beginner player could ask for.
