    I would like to make these, but there was a glitch in the video or on my phone, and I wasn’t able to see what she did with the dough after folding it. Did she roll it out and cut circles with the biscuit cutter? Or did she press the dough into the right size and then use the circle biscuit cutter? And lastly, did she let the dough rest or chill at all?

  • @SwtTrisha8

    @@Toody49 Look above at my comment - I just made them and came out great but I did mine a little different. I didn’t see the part either about cutting them out but I just pulled loose the size that looked like hers and gently molded it by hand. I had 8 biscuits and they rose quite big as they were sitting un the pan with the lid on it. Once you see the water condensation forming is when they start to rise a little at a time and by the time they get flipped over they finish rising. Mine were big biscuits just like hers. They don’t need time to rest - just do like she was showing. I only had all purpose flour so I had to add 1 TBS baking power and 1 Teaspoon of salt and they did great!

    Miss Pam my mom taught me how to do these fifty-plus years ago.They were always easy. Sometimes for a late-night snack she would just use canned biscuits and do them in the skillet on the stovetop. But nothing was better than her homemade biscuits or hoecakes. She also made cornbread and even a single layer cake on the stove top. Sometimes you just didn't want to heat up the kitchen or you had dinner cooking in the oven a big roasting pan or such and you didn't have room to cook your breads or a desert. So you'd make your cornbread just like you regularly did and you would put it in your oiled cast iron skillet with the lid and slowly cook it until it was set on the top, you'd just touch it and if it was firm and didn't leave fingerprints then you take you a plate put it on top flip it over and then slide it back into the skillet on the uncooked side. And let it continue cooking and brown on that side and it will be done. She'd do a yellow layer cake the same way. But you had to be a bit more careful with the yellowcake you didn't want it to tear apart on you when you flipped it😂. So needless to say that turned into my duty as I got older. And still do it today, no need to heat up your kitchen.✌️

    My grandmother also made biscuits on top of the stove if she only wanted to make just a few. I know I’m going to get a backlash on her terminology but she called them hoe cakes and so did my husband’s grandmother. I’m sure most people think this is wrong as hoe cakes are usually corn bread, but that’s what people in rural Sandhills of SC called biscuits cooked on top of the stove.

  • @marywilson1442

    @marywilson1442

    @@bgcyclist No backlash here my mom made them like she was making biscuits also. When I started looking for recipes they were all with cornmeal and I was like this isn't a hoe cake. She was from deep east Texas so maybe it's a regional thing. I have not been able to match hers they were different than biscuits and the flavor with the ribbon cane syrup was delicious.

  • @marywilson1442

    @@charmaineprice8551 There's nothing special about the cornbread it's just any cornbread that you make even the package corn bread. What's different is cooking it on the stove top. You just need a heavy Skillet and a little oil on the bottom and you pull your cornbread and when the skillet is hot. Then you cook it at a slow temperature with the lid on, until the top of the cornbread is almost dry to the touch and doesn't stick to your fingers when you touch it almost bounces back. Then you put the plate on top of it flip it and slide it into the skillet on the opposite side and finish browning and then it's done. It doesn't take much time on the other side. I would just try jiffy mix cornbread in a 8 inch skillet to get the hang of it cuz it's easier to flip...✌🏻And Blessings

    Making biscuits is truly a talent. It takes a very light hand. They rise because of the steam from the butter. As the water from the butter separates, it makes steam. Very inventive, Pam. This would only work with something that causes steam to develop. So I’m gonna keep it in my mind and see if I can translate it to something low-carb. Thank you very much.

    I’m so happy I came across your video because I’ve been craving for homemade biscuits but my oven isn’t working and I didn’t want to take a chance on using my small countertop oven and ruin my biscuits. I was wondering if it was possible to cook these in a skillet on top of the stove but I wasn’t sure if it would turn out okay. Thank you so much Ms. Pam, you’re definitely a Godsend. I’m making these today! ❤🙏🏾

    I am attempting to make her biscuits right now using Victoria's Keto Kitchen "New Standard Keto Flour2.0" You can copy the previous info and plug it into the YT search bar to find the recipe and her channel. There is absolutely no flour in it! As a matter of fact, she developed the recipe to replace AP flour in non-keto recipes such as this one. I sure hope these turn out, but I'm not sure if Pam used all of the water and all of the flour, so here's hoping. (BTW - I used the Oat Fiber version)
