Beautiful biscuits for 2 people. Since it’s just me now this is the perfect recipe. My late husband and I had three sons so I was in the habit of cooking for all of us. I'm so sorry for your loss, hon! And adjusting to cooking for one has got be difficult! My grandmother had a hard time with that as well. I hope you have grandchildren nearby to keep your days bright! And a sweet fur baby around for daily humor and love! Never fortunate enough to have children of my own -- but I've "adopted" a couple😁-- and I have my fur babies! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them or my adoptees! Went 5 years without a fur baby because I couldn't get over my previous one (I swear he was part human!)-- a Maine Coon mix that adopted me! I'm glad I have my Cinnamon -- I didn't realize how not having a little love bug around was affecting me until I got her. She wasn't socialized properly as a kitten, so she's not overly affectionate but I know she loves me (learned after a hospital stay, she slept on a pillow next to my head for days when I got home). Anyway, I've apparently drifted into Babble-on...(you'd never guess I used to be the quietest member of my family!)🥴🙃 My best to you and yours! 😊
I'm old, been making biscuits for decades but you've taught me something here. That folding...very smart. Thanks

My Grannie Jackson made Skillet Biscuits! She used Crisco & buttermilk. She had a straight-sided skillet, big enough for six biscuits. She'd melt Crisco in the pan, put hand-formed biscuits in it, put a lid on it, cook over low heat until a very crisp crust formed, flip onto a plate, and slide back into the skillet to finish. As my grandfather was a bee-keeper, we grew up eating these biscuits with butter & honey. Your video recalls very fond memories!! Thanks for sharing!

I've done the same thing, since I was just a kid. I learned this from my nextdoor neighbor who baby-sat us. The folding method is new to me, though, looks great. I also made skillet cornbread bread like this. Just replace half of the flour with cornmeal. Add sweetener or not, depending on whether you like sweet cornbread. I use the ratio of 1 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt, per cup of dry ingredients, if you're not using self-rising.
@whollybraille7043

Do you use buttermilk with self-rising flour? And also still add butter. The crisco is just for making it crisp, right? I'm so hungry now! Thanks.

I love that you actually pointed out how gentle you have to be with biscuit dough. If you're too rough with it, you have crunchy, chewy lumps. Not fun. Also you are using the cutter in the correct way to get extra height. If you twist the cutter it seals the edge and you get less rise. This is awesome!! Lol I don't end up with 12 biscuits when I can only eat 2🤣

Now, I still used my traditional old Cat-head Biscuit recipe and I baked them in the oven but this time the difference was the way I handled the dough--those biscuits they rose up three times higher than the last time I used the same recipe! Give it a try!
My grandfather always made cornbread on the stovetop. I like the grating the butter trick.

PERFECT! Empty nest here and I Love fresh biscuits. With just two in the house though it always feels so wasteful PLUS it makes a heck of a mess. I LOVE THIS RECIPIE! Super flakey and moist, perfect for two serving size and minimal mess! PERFECT! Did I mention it was perfect? Thank you! Way more fresh biscuits are in our future!

Wow. I cannot wait to try these at breakfast tomorrow morning. Had no idea this would be so simple. My wife and I love biscuits, at any meal, not just breakfast. It seems to me, though, that a nice layer of bacon grease would send these simple biscuits over the moon. So I will make mine in the same skillet as the bacon. Even if it doesn't work, they'll be good biscuits. Thanks a million!

I have my grandma's 98-year recipe for biscuits & I've been cooking them in the oven for years. Now I'm gonna cook them on top of the stove! These biscuits look absolutely delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

What a lovely video Ken 😊 your instructions were very clear. I never thought of using my stove to make biscuits. Normally use the oven. I always use a skillet to make naan bread, chapatti, cornmeal bread - guess it’s the same dry stove method. I will definitely give your recipe a try 🙏✅❤

This is a great...My wife and I enjoy them. I also use it for camping with the boys. Camping taking the butter out of the cooler I use 2 knives in a scissors motion cutting the butter into small pieces in the flour....saves on cleanup in the woods. Same idea as using a grater but I have 2 boys to teach and show. We have fun family time doing this. 1 makes gravy, 1 makes biscuts....and I clean dishesand teach. The Mom if she's along keeps order putting things away!!! ALL ABOUT FAMILY !!! Mom she is the one to keep order in

My theory is if you can make a really good, tender biscuit, you've got the secret to a good scone. I don't think there's much difference except whatever inclusions you put in your scone. (I haven't compared recipes, though.❣️)

My dad use to make scones, he used flour, butter and milk, he also made some with: cheese and ham or bacon; pumpkin; curry, and cheese and herb. They were all very nice. We use to have jam and cream on the plain scones. His were always light and fluffy.
Biscuits with happy faces! They have to be good!!
