I think some of the significant ways in which it differs from the original are off-putting to some folks. I had to give it several listens before I could get past that staccato rhythm, especially at the beginning, and I know of at least one other Beach Boys fan who was utterly inconsolable over the changes in the chord progressions. Not everyone who runs into that sort of mental block will stick around to give it another try, unfortunately.

I love how they do the lighting. When Geoff starts singing, in his low voice, "Now it's dark..." the lights in the background all go out. Then slowly come back on as the music builds. Fantastic!

Love your reaction, as always. One of my very favorite parts of this video is the lighting; how we go from rosy morning/daytime to the "blue hour" of late afternoon/evening to starry night to predawn grey and back to morning sun.

This is one of those songs where you DO have to listen several times to get it all in. Did you hear the crickets and birds? And check out the lighting (thank you, Eli!). So well done at every level! Great reaction, Mortius!! Thanks, Mason!

You are right that it takes more than one listen to actually pick up on everything, but the more that I have listened to it, it has only gotten me more emotional, because it brings back memories of my grandpa and his summer home.

Glad it stuns the professionals as well, cause I did not expect this either and I'm still not over it. I had this on repeat for the last couple of days and it's just such a vibe and also very visually pleasing. They outdid themselves with set design and lights in this one.

It had similar effects on many of us.

Way back 🦕when I was young, everyone else was listening to the Beatles and the Stones, I was listening to Motown and the Beach Boys. With DeeJay’s collaboration they managed to combine the two into a stunning piece. I love the harmonies!!

i adored this one when it came out!! i remarked on the original VP video that i have such great memories associated with the beach boys so i was stoked to see this one. this one and can't stop falling in love with you are an absolute vocal warm hug. i am so happy to see you enjoyed it, it's so invigorating to see other people get giddy at things you like!

I think it’s amazing that while Layne’s arrangement is more staccato than the original, it feels like a warm hug. In addition to their arrangements, their attention to the look of the video helps make them distinctive. This was filmed in Rayne’s Room Recording Studio. Owned by Layne, they have filmed many videos here including ACA Top 10s and Chandelier. When Layne dressed the set he included items for each VoicePlay member, Deejay, his daughters, his grandmother, and his wife’s family. Items he added for himself included his violin, his hoverboard and a book of his favorite Disney movie.

watched the video without interruptions. First time listening to one of their songs. The rendition was a little breathy the bass was very good. I think I heard him before. I'm 74 so I know the original. Really, the only Beach Boys song I liked. As for Voice lay the beat and cadence I don't really suit The song and Mortius I beg to differ It is not very good. Will check out some other songs from them. But then I'm a home fry.
