Tim Foust did a cover of this song about a year ago. So now have three favorites. Beach Boys, Voiceplay, and Tim Foust.

These guys keep taking these great oldies and turning them into new magic. This is so beautiful. Layne’s sneaky little solos-I always love to hear his voice. DJ’s perfect, clean riffs. Eli and Cesar just killing it, and of course Geoff-only this time we don’t have any real shocker bass notes. Just smooth, velvety harmony. Eli did the lighting AND costumes for this-the lighting is amazing. Every single face is well-lit and complemented by the colors he used (I missed that a bit with Nothing Else Matters-J.None wasn’t as well covered as I’d have liked). Love the way the lights change through the song, setting the mood for each passage. And he had to have had some fun selecting the shirts for each of the guys. Geoff gets the COW shirt. LOL. Anyway, shoutout to Eli for his behind-the-scenes excellence as well as his vocals. Are there awards for KZread music videos? Do the songs have to be original or can they be covers? Voiceplay needs to be getting the attention they deserve. I always look forward to your commentaries, Qofy, and you never disappoint, even when you manage to keep your pants on!! 😈

It’s not too surprising that you’re not that familiar with the song..The Beach Boys released it when I was 13! It’s a perfect song for VP to cover because of the heave harmonies…they really made it current..and added that beautiful spice only they can do…and DeeJay…those riffs were so sweet☺️…you know this group so well and can react and analize them like nobody else…..all around gold🤗♥️‼️

This song was my safe place when I was growing up. As a young girl I felt misunderstood & misused and I went to sleep listening to this song on repeat. Of course that meant I had to reach over and lift the little arm of the record player over and over again. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Now I have three versions of what was my favorite song way back in the 1960s. 🎵🌊🎤🏄🏼‍♀️🎼

This Voiceplay version is really great. Tim Foust does an only Tim (five Tim's) in a version that sounds really close to Beach Boys original. Love this version here too. This is just a stellar song. You might want to peek at Tim's to know how the original sounds. Beach Boys 'Pet Sounds' album is always in top albums EVER produced. Innovative.

great reaction. And I love this cover. But you really do need to go listen to the original. It is different enough that those of us emotionally attached to the original had to do a double-take. It might help you understand why. I 100% agree with your analysis - the harmonies, the rhythms, the swells and calms - this is beautiful. I love it.

Have you heard Tim Foust's solo version of this song?

For me the VP version is warm, comforting and optimistic. The original, to me, seemed rather melancholy. I did not like the original for that reason, but VP changed my mind about the song. I think they do that so well. They make me reconsider songs I previously did not care for because their take is creatively different from the original while still paying homage to it.

Definitely great but I think I still prefer Jacob Colliers version 😊
