I have friends who are now managing their image as though they are famous. And they will only smile when their own camera is pointed at them; you should see the eruption if a picture you take accidentally includes them and they didn't vet it before it went online. Needless to say I, as do others, avoid them now. Social media is anti-social, it destroys a persons character and their social connections... 2000+ FB friends and lonelier than ever.

It's amazing because she wrote this about movie/pop stars of the time and their facade, but now it applies to nearly everyone who's involved in social media. It's a much bigger part of the population! We all feel the need to live up to the "perfection" and fall for everyone else's lies, until they crumble. This could be the theme of 2020.

Lone Wolf I’m not privy to all the details but she was very very young like between 2-4 years old I believe. Amy was at school and got the news during her recess period in whatever elementary grade she was in

17 years and this song still gives me chills. I honestly believe that so many kids and teens today struggle with depression, anxiety etc because they don't have this kind of music to get them through the though times. 99% of music today just exasperates the problems. I'm not just nostalgia tripping here. This music actually moves you emotionally. It was original, deep and meaningful. Who today is putting it music like this in the mainstream.

That was before social media was really a thing. She's a television star in the video; but yes, it is relevant to internet stars too.

You caught on to the main message of the song but, there’s something you’ve missed: This was written and released before social media was even a term. Fallen (the album this is on) was released March 2003 and MySpace launched August that year. Just showcases what a great songwriter Amy Lee is. She comes across as a rather sensitive person and quite the retrospective introvert. I think she instinctively recognised the damage that fake-ass popularity does to people and society before we even got such things as Facebook or the Kardashians.

As an Ev fan, I so appreciate your take on this wonderful song. "Everybody's Fool" is so underrated in the Evanescence canon, and the video supports the meaning of the song so well. That's rare to find, especially in this day and age where almost anybody can slap a video together. The union between song and visual makes the music video legitimately art. And yeah, you're completely right about how living this fake perfect life is such a huge thing on social media and yet, paradoxically, people act so much meaner to each other than they would IRL. Just like video!Amy realizing she's selling lies, people need to wake up, stop acting like fools for internet clout, and be true to their authentic selves.

I adore you watching Evanescence because that's exactly how I feel every time I hear Amy's voice no matter how many years pass! She just released a new song called Love goes On and On, you should check it out! Definitely a bit different from her heavier stuff.

As I understand it, Amy wrote this as a warning to her sister, who was obsessed with Britney Spears back in the day. One thing I seldom see when people react or comment on this video is how good an ACTRESS Amy is! WOW!

This concept is seen in other places but I just must have been in the right mindset and time in my life where I HEARD the meaning. It broke my psyche. @@ApocGuy But not even remotely close to how much our every day lives revolve around it today. In 2008 there was only 100 million people on facebook. Today there is almost 2.5 billion. Over 30% of the world population is on facebook alone. I dont even think that many people had internet in 2003. So social media was in its infant stages in 2003, and really did not exist yet.

I will be honest, I was surprised you haven't done the reaction to this song before. But you finally made what I was waiting for. And it inspired me to say something about it. Cuz I was thinking that there is nothing worse than a superstar singing about being fake or creating completely different image in public just to get money. My thoughts were the same when I saw this video for the first time about 16 years ago. I decided to convince myself if I am wrong. And you know what? After these 16 years I finally met Amy Lee two weeks ago! Spoke with her for a couple of minutes during the "meet and greet" in Budapest. And she definitely is not fake. She "never was and never will be" like the most of singing stars who do everything for money. She likes to be with other people, she's open for everyone, talks about her life, about her past, asks many questions like she is involved in conversations with people,she is smiling all the time, showing her tongue... She even wished me happy birthday few times. I confess I could not say a word after that as I didn't expect so beautiful, so honest, kind and warm person she really is. I have fallen in love with her music even more than before. Believe me, if you like the lyrics, you can be sure it is a real thing.

My ex wife and I actually met Amy Lee around 10 years ago after an Evanescence concert. She was a really sweet person.

Well, you'll NEVER go wrong with an Evanescence song. I would suggest doing Hello, the isn't a official video for this song, but there is a lyrics video that has a real cool photo montage that's shown in the background. Search for thatvideomakingkid, he has also done all of their songs from their albums with lyrics videos. If you want a anthem type song, I would recommend doing the song What You Want. Thank you for getting into depth and detail with the lyrics. Many people doing reaction videos are just listening for how good the beat and hard the sound is. Keep up the good work and thanks for being diverse in your music which is rare nowadays.

It’s interesting cause this song was actually released during a time when social media wasn’t even much of a thing yet- it was only 2003. I think maybe it was originally intended to call out the modeling industry for creating completely unrealistic expectations for how beautiful women (and men) should look... That being said though, your take on this song totally works as well! Which is so cool because that makes this song t i m e l e s s in a way. :)

Evanescence and Within Temptation are going to tour together, but I've heard it will only be in Europe. But we can hope for a collaboration with Amy, and Sharon, think positive thoughts. Evanescence HAVE been writing songs for a new album since May. We will probably see it by the middle of 2020

This song means a lot to me. For a long time I didn't say how I felt and I was always putting on a happy face. But this song like. I was Everybody's Fool but nobody knows how I really feel except for my best friend. I'm so thankful for him. And for this song. I love your videos Alex
