    Hey johnny Shada KAka ! Love your videos and your energy . Ive been a Bassist for over 40 years and its finally good to see a site that is so in debt , I work on my own guitars and drums as well. The one thing I find is Ive learned that if a musical instrument dealer can not tell you all the components to his product , keep searching until you do . Its different from a person to person inquirey . Ive had some no name basses that when I did a couple of upgrades sounded and played majestically ,And sold a couple right at some gigs Shada Kaka ! So keep up thge goold work and God bless you and the Queen !

    I have a Chinese-origin bass that is a copy of Larry Graham Signature Moon Bass. I got to play it before I bought it of a friend who had ordered on AliExpress. It played really nice off the bat. I replaced the J pickups with EMG Riptides, added a Babicz FCH bridge, Hipshot tuners, bone nut, Elixirs, shielded cavity, straplocks, and made a gold cavity cover. Then I had it PLEKed. After 50+ shows and many worship services I put it back on the machine and it required very little in the way of touch ups. Stays as straight several of my high end pre 2000 basses. Of course up until about the year 2000 very few basses offered had any graphite reinforcement in the neck. This bass is my #1. An absolute delight to play!

    Which raises a bigger question. How much do they really cost? after replacing hardware, electronics, getting a craftsman to spend some quality TIME on it and still having to deal with neck issues.

    Arnold Bell you are 💯 on that,I always wonder why guys go spend 250$ on a bass then replace the pickups,tuners,bridge and whatever else,why not go ahead and spend the 900/1000$ on a bass ,not have to change anything

  • @NamikazeKyuuga

    @NamikazeKyuuga

    Even if they change the pickups, the tuners and the bridge it'll only cost them around ~300$. That's 400$-500$ they're saving.

    My dear brother Johnny, I gave you a thumbs up because I refuse to give a man a thumbs-down who's supplying us with fantastic information and you're fantastic gift. That being said, I'm giving up thumbs down to the tone of that bass and I really wish I could have heard it before you made the changes in the preamp and the pickups because in my humble opinion it basically sounds like an active Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe. I really didn't hear that Smith sound and again this is my opinion. Other than that you always do a great job with the videos as far as your playing, your humor, and the information you provide. I say let Hootie try that bass out and let's see how it sounds. Love you brother

    In addition to not having graphite bars, the wood used for these basses is probably not properly aged.

    Bunch of years back some guy was on a bass forum going on and on about how Great SX bass guitars (Rondo Music) made in China. They look ok and seemed to sound ok so I though I will buy a neck and put it on my bass to see if the quaility is ok, NOPE garbage compared to a neck I bought from Warmoth later that i still have on my bass, chucked the China one out. You pay a $150 for a China Bass you get crap electronics, crap neck with crap frets with crap tuners.

    Johnny - will the Chinese destroy Fender, Gibson, and other great American and European brands? or will they survive like the Ford survived Toyota? Or will there be American companies who can create great design, manufacturing and quality control processes with American labor that can compete at the $900 and below price point with better quality products? Or will we see the great brands just create a cheap line of instruments from Chinese and Korean factories?
