When your entire church service consists of nothing but a rock band with a light show, and a lyric screen, followed by an uplifting peptalk, I can’t believe anyone would be surprised that the musicians up there are showboating the whole time. A buddy of mine saw one of those worship videos and he said “wow it looks like they’re worshiping the drum set.” That was literally centerstage of everything.

Yep. Once someone I knew who played acoustic guitar, it wax embarrassing he was lightly strumming his guitar when he wax suppose to keep it quiet. I didn’t let on, I just made sure my volume knob we on off position. When a pastor speaks, I pay attention to what he says.

I agree you always be ready and focus I don’t go live when I record It is a distraction Great video a lot of musicians need to hear this. Nothing wrong with recording but Always focus on the craft and keeping God first

I’m so glad you said this! The musicians at my church don’t show not one ounce of praise, they stand up there dressed in tennis shoes, with poker faces , and none of them do anything special, JEALOUSY and ENVY runs rampant in churches, when the Bass player / music director heard me play during an AUDITION, he never called me back, he felt threatened, I was going to talk to Sr. Pastor but why be where I’m clearly not wanted. It’s about JESUS , not you thinking you’re a rockstar

It's hard to tell young musicians ANYTHING. Especially not in church. I don't play at church anymore, sub for churches etc. It's a social club, a competition. I cant even stand to see a person set up a camera on a secular gig. Once they do that I know that they are more concerned about themselves than whats happening in the music.

Being part of a Worship Team is a ministry, not a gig. Many church musicians after worship sit in the back room hustling for gigs instead of hearing the word and getting Spiritually fed.
