I had a 1978-79 MMSR..STB the fully foam rubbered Bridge Spring Mutes...original Preamp... but it had a customized toggle switch on the " Crome Pot Knob Plate" to turn the Battery on and off... I LOVED THAT BASS!! RECORDED WITH THAT BASS😪😭😭💔💔💔...It was stolen from me... and it was my fault😭💔...twenty years later and I'm still traumatized.. loke it happened last week...😢😪😭😭😭💔💔💔.. When I recorded with it, you could plug it directly into the mixer and run it FLAT!! E'ERYTHANG AT 12:00 ZERO NORMAL AND IT WAS PEEEERFECT!!...I miss her sooo much😪😪😭💔...she was Tabacco Sunburst with the black pick-guard and maple neck and fingerboard.. Serial Number B003850.. Leo made my bass... NOT ERNIE OR STERLING...

Man u crack me up !!! I checked the song u played but tbh your version sounds much better ... u have great tone on yer fingers ahaha... Look i owned 2 sting rays ... a 2eq teal n a natural 3 ed ... The first one i was cashstrapped ... then sold it ... after many years i bought another one again ... the truth is ... they are amazing instruments and super versatile ... they cost a lot n hold value second hand ... the truth is the profile of the neck is too chunky @ the first fret ... it took me years to truly comprehend it was the wrong instrument for my fingers... i'm more of a jazz profile... actually i own an american natural with a bespoke John East preamp ... the stock ones Fender put in aren't great in my humble opinion ... i found my sweet spot with Sire though ... Jazz neck profile with an incredible Sire preamp circuit... i mean Sire blow Fender n Sting rays out of the park for value too.. U should check Sire basses ... lighter and amazing value for money ... bless ya ☮️🕉️☮️
