Yin Yang Pickup Comparison! EMG P/J's vs. Seymour Duncan Dual Coils

Our own Joey Lauricella demo's two Yin Yang Standards outfitted with two different pickups: EMG P/J and Seymour Duncan Dual Coil's!
We recorded the Mic'd amp (Sennheiser e902/Aguilar Tone Hammer 500) and the direct signal. The signals were blended in post, with flat eq's and light compression.

At 2:45 that's definitely both pickups in single-coil mode, not the neck pickup in humbucking mode.
Yep the EMG pickups for me for sure they sound much better to my ears
Of course EMG PJ configuration is VW groovy sound but I love Fodera/Seymour Duncan pickups' sound and their versatility (with the choice single coil/humbucker).

That cab sound on its own sounds a bit weird, esp with the EMG's, but I bet it would absolutely slice through a mix without covering anything up in the lows and highs.
Nice Bass! Thanks for this vid, when using this purple heart wood for fretboard, how does fodera finish it (or otherwise) to prevent it losing the vibrant purple colour ? Thanks!

and you don’t care about half the body turning dark?
You can get a Fodera Yin Yang I at Sweetwater like I did. In that way you can pay for a top quality instrument over a short time frame. Especially since it still takes Sweetwater time to get the instrument (I had to wait 3 months). So you have to save your money and be patient! I am so glad I did!!!

I bet you are buddy I will have a pj configuration monarch to go with my fender American elite one day I bet it will sound Awesome through my mark bass amp but it can turn a 100$ pawn shop turd to gold

My Yin Yang mahogany pj took 7 months. Brutal!
Some of the legends/descriptions are incorrect. As mentioned before, neck-pickup in humbucking mode for the SDs is incorrect; that's definitely both pickups. Equally, both pickups in single-coil mode for the SDs is incorrect; that's definitely neck-pickup.

Hi fodera, are the PJ pick ups in this video the original EMG PJ set or are they a modified design for you guys?

I'd guess they're the alnico. Wooten spec. Which is the PJAX set I think. I'm putting this combo in a Ritter clone scratch build. Seems the right balance of warmth and clarity for me.

Leo got it right. Full humbuckers on bass sound like a wet fart, too much low end.
I thought this was a PJ pickup set vs a PJ pickup set. It's not. Since nobody has a bass that will fit both of these sets, what's the point in comparing? I'm trying to decide which PJ set to buy.

It's a Fodera demo made for potential Fodera customers. These are the two primary options for one of their four string basses.

There's quite a few videos comparing various PJ sets. I went with the EMG PJ-X, with an EMG BQC System, in my main bass a couple years ago, and I still absolutely love the tones, the versatility, the reliability, to the punch through the mix that can be felt in your bones.
