I took it for an MOT and it was so rusty that it wasn’t worth saving unfortunately which broke my heart. But I knew I wanted a 106 really so just waited

Hope it doesn’t end up in the same place as the fiesta

I laughed at a guy who bought one of these when he said it was fast he brought me for a spin and it changed my mind real quick

Looks awesome mate, can’t wait for the series on it, I’d re furb the wheels in black to go with the lip silver I think might look out of place. But can’t wait to c the finished project all valeted, full service, seats all shiny and carpets all shampooed,engine bay all clean, maybe upgrade the bulbs and that’s it.

love this mate, you have quite possibly saved this car from ending up being scrapped as it was already on a slippery slope. like you say a good days paint correcting will instantly bring it back to life along with the wheels being done. A good service will be a top idea maybe even look at a set of polybushes to make things night and tight as well.

Presumably you’ll just end up scrapping it like every other car you’ve had ?

Mate, I get why you bought this. For me, there is one car I would love the pleasure to own and drive. That car would be a 71 ta Toyota Celica, my late step dad had one before he got into an accident and was beyond repair (T Boned). He walked away from that, I pleaded with him to try and keep it to fix it up and get it running again but he said it wasn't worth it. To me it was, I bonded with him in that car, learnt how to drive manual and when he passed away (Leukaemia) I told him I was going to find another one to have it the way he did with my personal touches to it.

I had one of these back in the day. Tiny pedals real close to each other. You get the hang of it after a while. Good memories blasting down the road in it.

I fully understand 👍 sometimes that itch has gotta be scratched. I think old Skool pugs are great fun! That’s why I’ve got a 309 gti. all the best with this project, look forward to seeing it come to fruition 👍

Great vid, I can relate to this so much, my first car was a vauxhall nova SR which I loved. My mate had a 106 quicksilver which was a great little car, like a go kart.

It is a very attractive car, I’m looking forward to seeing your restoration of it, and glad you don’t intend to ruin it, instead lightly restore it to factory standard specification!.

I love it my freind had a gold one back in the day when I had my 205 gti always liked them have you done anything with the fiesta body kit yet or have any plans for it

I'm a few years older than you Jamie and was in the same boat back then (2004-5). In a world full of Saxos and Corsas, I was in love with this subtly modded 106 GTI Quicksilver. Still like the shape and really look forward to seeing you bring some TLC to this.

I know exactly where your coming from, i have a saxo vtr so a similar thing. There was no need to build it to crazy power or anything. Its undersealed etc lowering springs on the front, real cheap (ish) motoring that does nothing but put a smile on the face. Im excited for this one

Absolutely one of the best gti’ ever. I’ve got one as a track with 255k km on clock. Drives absolutely amazing and I’m right now looking for one as a summer car

Fair play mate I know the feeling when I was about 18 I always wanted a corsa b. There was something about them. Last year I brought one it's a 1997 on a p reg with only 57k on and it costed me £350 and it's a solid car for its age some people get it some dont but if you follow your dreams some come true. Keep up the good work and cant wait to see what happens with this 👌👍

Saxo's and 106's are brilliant fun cars! you can surprise a lot of other cars on the road in these.

These and the vtr were the cars to have at one point ....I loved the widebody maxi ones ...

Owned 3 of these over the years... throw a pugsport exhaust on and it transforms them. Cracking little car and proof that power isn’t everything, these will keep up with most hot hatches

I bought a 106 gti about 3 months ago. £700. I'm building it for track. Will be turboed this summer and then eventually will be putting the engine in the back and making it rwd

This is incredible! I'm only just getting rid of my 106, always wanted the gti but settled for the 1.1... This is going to be a fucking sick series!

They are nice little fun cars. My dad had a 5 door silver zest one with the 1.5 NA diesel engine. Was really sluggish and put my dad off French cars but being small it was a fun car to chuck about

Looking forward to see what you have planned, I have a quick video on mine when I was changing the rear axel just mind there always bad for rear axles buddy 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I’ve changed my one 3 times 😂

Many fond memories of these had 2 myself one slammed on ropey coil overs with torsion bar fully wound down and one throttle bodied - potentially the most fun I’ve had motoring..!!

I got a 306 tdi when I was 22 for free because of a water leak, was so fun driving a semi retro car quiet young 👍💨 2.5 k a year for insurance. Lasted 6 month's but to just have that experience of a 2.0l turbo was rather fun over 10 years ago, Man hearing the boost was 👌
