Red Bull Has Built A Hypercar…
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is the Red Bull RB17 - and it’s much more than F1 design genius Adrian Newey’s greatest hits amalgamated into a hypercar.
Sure, this £5m, track-only spaceship has the likes of a blown diffuser and Newey’s favourite Formula 1 engine configuration (a naturally aspirated V10) but the RB17 is instead what happens when Newey isn’t trying to find loopholes in restrictive Formula 1 regulations. The RB17 is what happens when Newey is unleashed!
The result, the mind-blowing result, is a car (very rich) mere mortals can buy - and one that can lap a racetrack as fast as a contemporary Formula 1 car.
Behind Newey is the might of Red Bull Applied Technologies, the sister company to Red Bull Racing that uses the F1 team’s know-how and applies it to wider engineering challenges. As a calling card to show their expertise, the RB17 is quite something.
But enough of us telling you about it. Instead, here’s the man himself, interviewed by Top Gear’s Editor-at-Large, Jason Barlow…

@@voongnz Agreed. My dream is a GT spinoff with real world roads, and with fully interactive cars, with all the interior and exterior interactive, that you can buy as DLC and spec like you would from the factory. GT could get the car manufacturers involved, give them a cut in exchange for full access, and sell the game as a real life means of test driving real cars, and aim it at anyone who drives IRL. Sell the roads as DLC, roads like Amalfi, the Swiss Alps, etc. sell the cars as DLC, launch with a small lineup of halo cars, then introduce more regular cars, so that the game becomes the default way for IRL drivers to test cars before they buy them. The cars would be extremely realistic, and have richer sound files than any other game, but there would be fewer cars at launch, a lot fewer, than other games. But I wouldn't care. Give me more detailed, richer, more realistic intereactive cars - not more basic laser scanned copy pastes with made up sound files. Sony and GT could make a lot of money from this. I'd pay stupid money for a fully interactive GT3 RS that I got to spec myself and drive on virtual recreations of real roads.

Honestly, the orhers are magnificent, they are road engines that meet emission standards. This is an engine Cosworth could have built ten years ago, or even twenty. It's a higher displacement V10 to have more reliability and longer maintenance intervals, but at 15,000 rpm, it will need pneumatic valves and a bunch of prep to even run at a track day. You might need a team to just get it started. 960 HP from 3.0 liters at 19,000 rpm was 2004/5 spec. This is a bigger engine with lower rpm for same power.

Need to see this verse the gma t50s as well as having gordon murry and andrian on a episode at the same time to hear their different perspectives
We all knew it was going to be bonkers, but WOOOOOOOOOOW, this is not next level, this is few levels above anything I could have imagined. Hats off to the GOAT, Adrian Newey!

“We want to make the car accessible” yeah I have a spare 5 million down the back of the sofa

It's like a real life Red Bull x2010, what a beautiful car and prob rediculous speed. So cool to hear Newey say that Gran Turismo partially inspired this masterpiece
Adrians passion in designing cars is just remarkable
4.5L V10 screaming at 15k RPM must be insane !!
15,000 RPM V10. Perfecto!! 👌

Is it just me or the way that Adrian smiles makes me believe that there's a chance he is not even gonna go to f1 next year But rather go to something else, something like a new racing series or la mans?

Honestly, I don’t think he’s going to any racing series. He’s 65, probably wants to step back and enjoy life. He’s been talking about building a boat and sailing round the world. Even if he does stay in F1, where would he go? Ferrari is a no, nobody his age is uprooting his whole life and moving his family to Maranello. Mercedes already have James Allison. McLaren have their own three man TD team that seems to be working well for them. The only options really are Aston or Williams. Williams actually seems more likely, I can’t see Adrian enjoying working for a man like Lawrence Stroll

Fabulous piece of engineering & design. Kudos.
what a car, and what a feat of engineering! Newey is truly a rare genius.
I'd love a session with Adrian. Just explaining why you don't want the wheel wake under the floor, what "keeping the floor edge energized" and "tidy and good energy" means.
Yes! I have been hoping someone would commission cosworth to do an extreme V10! Their V12s sound amazing but V10s play a perfect fifth root note, I cannot wait to hear it!
I could listen to Adrian talk about cars all day. He truly sees things with a different set of eyes. Awesome machine and awesome insights.
