I Am Surprisingly Bad At This | TMI

If you're going to spend a lot of money and time on a video, make sure and do it on one that will get demonetized.

Hi Joe. I just want to let you know, and i do believe i speak for many people here. I'm here for the good reason, that i find you to be a kind and honest person, and you are not affraid to state your own oppinion on a subject, even if it might not suit everyone. And the fact that you dont use clickbait to gain views, and keeps it casual, is what i think is a reflection, of all the lovely people in the chat. I love everything about your channel.

Wow Joe, I hope the "penis" controversy doesn't keep you from doing strange, unusual, and quirky content. People that were offended (KZread!) be dammed. Channels on KZread have become so homogenized, unresearched, and unoriginal. And I'm sorry, but your intelligent viewers (I believe) were not taken aback, shocked, or otherwise put off. Those that were and left.... screw 'em. I'm a singer/songwriter in Austin and if there is one thing I've learned in my "career" is DO WHAT YOU DO. Don't try to conform, don't try to be something (someone) else. Just do what you do.

Well said! I don't know how people feel in general about sponsorships (when I pimp for Brilliant or Skillshare etc., at the end of a video) but what I don't think most people get is how much they free me and other creators up to do the types of content we want. Like this video got demonetized but it was sponsored so it's not that much of a loss. If all my revenue came from KZread, I would be completely beholden to what they promote and what people would click on. I think the "common wisdom" out there is that taking a sponsor reduces your creative freedom. I've found the exact opposite is true.

@@joescott-tmi- You just answered something I wondered about when you said your "penis video" had been demonetized: surely the income from KZread is a drop in the bucket compared to the income from sponsors. I'm not a KZreadr, I don't know, but I'm glad to know that's the case. Personally, I think anyone who'd get offended by that video has issues.

I think you mean a "bottle" episode : one that uses only main standing sets, no new ones or expensive location filming. This opposed to a "flashback" episode, which is usually at the end of season and has to produce a show with little or no budget left, and does so by flashing back to old episodes with minimal new filming to glue the story together.

Part of the reason for news cadence is that it’s accent-neutral. It goes two ways: it strips most of the accent and speech quirks from newscasters; and it is understandable by almost all people regardless of their accent. It’s been reinvented/rediscovered a few times and has changed slightly in tone over time (e.g. it was relentlessly optimistic/cheerful during wwii in the US), but there’s a version of it in every language, except maybe tonal languages like Chinese? I don’t know how those work, we didn’t go into that in film class.

Joe… your mass of great content, comedic timing, video touches and topics are always a weekly into to life here. My daughter loves you and thinks your so funny and serious!!! From here in the UK there’s a lot of love. The Victorian piece taught us a lot!!! But please don’t change your style… we love it, it’s great, DOOOOONT change, it’s sooooo refreshing hearing your style. Besides… I don’t want to lose my dinner prep buddy…! My family’s dinners may never be the same again!!! Love you!

I really like the lighting round videos! I also really like the intros. Keep it up with both of those. I would also like to add "Bork bork bork, bork bork, bork bork bork bork!"

Your channel covers my interests then adds your chocolate sprinkles on top like your sketches! I hope your ambitions in screenplay can eventually be realised too!

The thing I liked when I found your videos, was the quick to the point interesting facts, lined up in a somewhat long video with some comedy.

I've been here and with Joe for years and the branching out works for me because you will refocus with said platform or give something new because of it.if KZread uploads slow I still got my content fix. But love these chats or rambling on tmi probably been a more favorite part of the years. Anyway I'll enjoy what you post and when you post it.

Hey, THAT video🙈, as awkward a subject as it was, was pretty dang educational. Like, who-da-known that ducks...well, you know (from your other channel)? I didn't😕, and I don't feel that it was done in a distasteful way. I really enjoy your way of presenting your subjects on your channels - even THOSE subjects🙈. Wish I was in a position to help with funding, but, alas, I am not, so I'm just another happy viewer who loves watching (and liking👍😉) your work. And I do really love your sketches too - so entertaining & funny. The variety of subjects & content, the way you tastefully presented them, and your growing creative sketches are why I'm a loyal viewer. Thank you very much for all your hard work and the work of the team.

Howdy Joe! From a fellow Texan, long time viewer and first time commenter. I'm seeing this video late because I haven't received notifications for the tmi channel in awhile, I just wanted to throw my two cents and appreciation in. I loved the penises video! :) especially the sketch, but also the thorough research as always. Your sketches keep getting better and better and I'm excited to see what you have planned for the future. I also really enjoy the lightning rounds, it's interesting to see what people are curious about and your opinion on those things. So 10 out of 10 all around from me! Keep up the great work and don't let those 20 lames get to you ;)
