I'm wondering why us DIYers gave a really tough time buying true gels. Your site is the only place I've found them, without being licensed. I don't like the hybrids or regular polish. They seem to be more dangerous than the "real deal". Love your videos. Thank you!

valerie022848 Exactly. As a DIYer myself, I want gels I can rely on and it’s so hard getting your hands on true gels because we aren’t licensed. Some gels accessible to all, like Gelish and even some brands on Amazon, can be good but you have issues with inconsistencies. So you can have a bunch that work great and a bunch that don’t. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on Light Elegance for awhile because you hear so many good things about it. But it’s almost impossible to get your hands on. I’m thankful TheNailHub offers them to everyone because I might finally be able to get my hands on some quality products.

She said that when doing fill you add new product near the cuticle and usually file off some product at the free edge so really after a couple of fills you have all new product. She also said she usually doesn’t remove it all completely unless it’s a special situation and she gives some examples of those. I recommend you watch her Q&A’s for her actual word by word answer but that is kind of the idea she was saying about that. Hope that helps!

Great video. So my understanding is that I shouldn't use a hybrid gel on my gel overlay? Is there a time when I can? I was thinking of using the ones I have as a layer of color on the overlay but under the top coat. Would taking that off still be a sticky mess with a e-file? If I didn't use a top coat could I just soak off the color? Or maybe just know that the color will get sticky with a e-file and use a sanding band? With more information always comes more questions. Thank you for being here to answer them. You both rock!

moodie tool I’m pretty sure they just meant that you can’t create an overlay with a hybrid gel. You can absolutely use hybrid gel on an overlay. Only use sanding bands to file it off though because you can toss those out. It’s not a sticky mess but it does tend to gunk up efile bits. Hope this helps

So the true gels They have more molecules shorter in length meaning they have a very large surface area are we working with polymer chains? Do hybrids have more solvent and less molecules ,. Does this affect the bondage to the nail plate as opposed to one that has larger molecules and less of them?I ask this because Some people have extremely thin nail plates , are more likely to become moist and could possibly cause lifting, do lLight Elegance products level all this out? • @TheNailHub

Polygel is actually a mix between acrylic powder and gel. Depending on the formula it could be a hybrid but realistically polygel is not really a gel and is in its own category. You can apply polygel directly to the nail plate and it is a builder product all on its own.

@@TheNailHub I went to the salon and got hard gel nails. Then when I decided to do my own I filed those down (with a hand file, really going to need to practice efiling LOL) and left some for an overlay and then put poly gel over it. But I was planning on just continually doing that with the poly gel I have so I didn't have to soak or file everything off and start fresh every time. Sounds like from your reply that poly gel can be used that way. Is that correct? Just to clarify for others who may be reading this. Thanks Liz! Your base coat is most likely drying out as air is introduced to the bottle over time. This means there is a high solvent level in the formula so your base is probably a hybrid gel or some kind of bonder. True gels don't get noticeably thicker over time.

Hi Liz, i have a question - not about this topic, and i hope you will answer it...if there is a fungus on the nail, and theoretically you polished those nails, do you need to throw away the > PH Balance , Bonder, Base gel, color gel and the top ? thanks. love you Xx

The industry standard approach is that since bottled products and their brushes are in oxygen free environments they are said to not harbor bacteria or fungi. I personally do not work on nails with visible infections and instead refer them to a podiatrist or other doctor so they can get it resolved.

You can pretty much use whatever you want as long as things are curing properly and they are compatible brands. Please watch my videos on top 5 gel polish issues as well as lamps.

Hi. I have a question. I use products from The Gel Bottle Inc. Color gels and Builder gels as well as the rubber base coat and top coats. They say they are %100 pure gel but they do have a smell to them. I did the test with drop and it did not dry up. But I’m wondering why there is a smell to it.

You should check their SDS and see what ingredients they use. They are one of the brands I have seen that do not always list ingredients on the bottles or packaging...

Builder refers to the consistency as its thick and meant for building the nail up or extending. Builder gels can be either hard gel or soak off gel.
