We test and compare Huawei's tri-lens camera on the Mate 20 Pro with the standard Mate 20, to see if there's any difference in photo and video quality and the features on offer. Is the Pro model, with its better-specced camera, the superior of these Huawei phones?
Although they appear to sport the same snappers, there's a clear difference once you glance at the specs. Huawei's Mate 20 Pro model sports a mighty 40MP primary lens, with f/1.8 aperture. The second lens is an ultra-wide-angle effort, this time 20MP, with an f/2.2 aperture. And lastly you have an 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and a dash of Optical Image Stabilisation.
The standard Mate 20 sports a slimmed-down 12MP primary lens, again f/1.8. The ultra-wide-angle is a 16MP shooter this time, again with f/2.2 aperture. And the 8MP telephoto lens is back in action, once again f/2.4 and with OIS in play - although you only get a 2x optical zoom compared with the Mate 20 Pro's 3x optical zoom (and impressive hybrid zoom).

Is it true that in low light the Mate 20 Pros video is unusable? that it becomes jittery unstable as soon as it darkens in video? How is Mate 20 in video dinamic range compared to an iphone?
Hey mate, great work as usual. But I recommend you to do side by side photos comparison for 2 phone models or more instead of splitting them.
Hey Chris, great comparison vid. I hope Huawei get their act together and start selling the proprietary NM cards for the Mate 20. It was available on Amazon and now no longer available. Reviewers don't seem to mention the lack of availability for expandable storage. Holding of buying the non-pro model until these cards become available.

If you still haven’t found out, yes you can shoot raw photos.
I'm planning on buying the Mate 20 (not Pro). Don't see any major difference and being almost half the price in some places.

The pro has qhd screen, under screen finger print sensor, face I.D., water resistant, bigger battery and 8gb ram. Yeah So not to many major differences.

hello, i have a question: i just bought the mate 20 pro and the quality of the front camera is really really bad. it just doesn't really focus and sharpen the picture?? and also it looks way too smooth, even when the smooth skin feature is turned off. does anyone else have this problem or is it a technical defect?

Softwarewise, The 1+6T is the clear winner (except for features). Hardwarewise, the Mate 20 Pro crushes the 1+6T

Yes, this would be really helpful. I could get either for about the same price right now, but I am torn between the Mate20's superior hardware, quality and especialy battery : and the 6T's OLED panel...

Both has very good cameras but i personally like mate 20 more but the snapdragon 845 on oneplus 6t is way better than the kirin 980 chip on mate 20..if you ask me i would go for the Oneplus 6T base on your priority.
I feel very stupid and multiple times browsing the web it seems like noone has the same issue as me. I got my Mate 20 on monday and can't really get any sharp/crisp pictures no matter with what settings. Interesting is that in the settings menu where you can switch between the cameras it says 4:3 12MP, 1:1 9MP and 18:9 8MP. shouldn't the last one be 16MP? I feel really stupid asking but literally noone seems to trouble taking good photos with the Mate 20 but me and I'm lost on how to get my pictures sharp

How different is display quality between the two ? I am heavily tempted to get the Mate20 because the curved edges may not be my thing and the tiny notch just feels better, but LCD at over 500€ just feels wrong and as I watch a lot of videos on my phone I would like the best looking display of the two Resolution isnt the biggest thing for. Best looking colors and the best brightness (both "softest" minimum and "brightest" maximum) are what I'm looking for, so I am really torn between the OLED panel or the bigger flat panel... How does LCD versus OLED compare between these devices? And how does the Mate20 compare to the Oneplus 6T as far as display goes ?

The Mate 20's display, according to GSMarena, is quite colour accurate. Obviously, it's not the best and there are phones that have more accurate displays, but the Mate 20 is definitely not the worst. You can also adjust the colour settings of the display. The only issue that I'd say is quite bothersome would be how easily seen the display is under direct sunlight.

@@hiimyou2409 too big (width is fine but too tall. My phone already sticks out of my pocket, the 20X is 1cm taller), need to import it so no warranty, no B28 wireless band... The 20X looks like the perfect choice but too pany compromises that will become a burden on the long run

mate 20 is 16 MP resolution is larger than the pixel size and ultimately attracts more light, attracts a brighter. The colors are more natural.

If you pixel peep, actually most of the time, the M20 12MP has more details than M20Pro's 10MP.

The regular mate 20 has smaller notch, a headphone jack, and in some cases a camera with better lighting? Guess I’m getting the regular one instead

only thing I like about huawei phones are the battery, charging speed, twilight colour and its night mode.

Ver Nice review looked to me that pro was in vivid mode for a lot of the shots which will oversaturated the colours but brilliant to have that option and some people might prefer it nice to see some photos thanks KZread and partners please delete this comment and I can get some sleep

Not everyone have this issue, so typically if you don't have the issue you don't believe it exists at all.

There is a very very slight difference. Totally not worth it paying almost 250 dollars extra for it

I have mate20 but why my camera is not good 😭😭
I've got a Mate 20 Pro and I'm a bit disappointed of the quality of the shots. the 10 MP tend to be over-sharpened (with that auto-sharp that you can't disable!?) and the 40 MP tends to produce 'water color like' photos at times, especially when people are involved! Not crisp at all ... Night-mode is quite ok. But I wonder how they did these supersharp shots that get always shown in the vids and ads?? the fake shallow depth of field of the portrait mode is also a bit underwhelming and fake looking. as are the selfie shots even with beauty mode set to 0! it still looks like they're smoothening the skin!?

They are edited or shot with a DSLR camera, don't believe the fake hype I recommend you return this phone or sell it(if possible) and wait for the galaxy s10.

I'm a sammy boy but I'm about to upgrade from an S8 to the Mate 20 (non-pro). Damn amoled display has pink spots on my S8 after 2 years of ownership. It's all burned in and shett...just sent it in for repair under warranty...when I get it back, im gonna sell it lol

My huawei nova 3 takes better pictures than this two, i mean it.
Currently, in my country, the Mate 20 Pro is 25% more expensive compare to the Mate 20. My opinion, Mate 20 is more worth it.
