This was very helpful to me, thank you. I actually prefer the Mate 20 over the Mate 20 Pro, but was hesitant if the cameras didn't stack up by getting the cheaper model. However, if the Mate 20 compares well with the P20 Pro, which has superb cameras, I know I'm pretty safe.

Yeah, I really can't tell the difference in quality. Especially when I take pics for social media or for memories, they both are great. That's why I prefer the ultra wide for versatility

Mate20 has HDR pre applied in most of the photos. Videos are a lot improved with Kirin 980 Compare pro vs pro

the Monochrome camera on the P20 Pro really help it in terms of details and noise.. but still, Wide abgle lenses are mkre useful

For everyday photos, I can't tell the difference in quality. And I'm sure none of my friends can tell if I send them a picture. At that point I decide to see which camera features are more useful to me. So I'll take the wide angle over the monochrome any day.

The Mate 20 Pro has 40 too I have one and it's default setting is 10mp but you can change it to 40mp but without the optical zoom option

Chris Burrow so its between phones with around 600 dollar price range(that's what I saw in ebay for the normal mate 20 new from a top rated seller) and small chin and water drop notch and adroid pie out of the box?

I agree that overall camera of Mate 20 is better! and if you add significantly improved battery life and Performance at Kirin 980 - the choice is even more obvious (Mate 20!)

mate series is the king series in Huawei like the note series in the Samsung.

AI turned off and I used the default MP not the 40MP so I can use full options with the camera.

Well i was kind of hestated which phone i should buy, But after i took some opinion from some youtuber and photographer i bought mate 20, cuz of ultra wide angle as well as a vedio stibilization in 4k. Beside the processor is better its kirin 980 7nm. As well as, its all screen with drop notch its amazing screen with that tiny bezels all around.

@@danielsin i think in general a mobile camera can't be like a dsl camera so its could be gd but not perfect. Also if its from popular brand like ziess or sony or lieca or any other brand it means its gd cam but dont expect to be pro cam.

Mate 20 has updated chip to play games better. But overall everyday use, performance is almost the same. Mate 20 is just a little better

Ummm I'm not sure if you're blind, but the night shots definitely look better on the P20 Pro. During the day time, it's a toss-up between either phones, but the night makes a world of different.

Han tung normal mate 20. It has an ips lcd screen. But the LCD is RGBW which is a very good quality LCD panel. Can git like 800 nits(no problem viewing outdoors), very deeps blacks for an ips screen, and the colors are still punchy but you can obviously tone them down. Also small notch and it still has the same HDR10 as the matr 20 pro and PCI-P3 color gamut.

Do you think P20 pro will get the ai cinema effects from mate 20 pro with an update?

I would go with the Mate 20. It has HDR in video mode. And front facing camera does better with skies as well.

This is the Mate 20, not Mate 20 Pro. Also only some Mate 20 Pro units using LG panels have that issue, units using Chinese BOE screens are fine.

Battery life is roughly the same. In terms of sharpness, I can't tell which one is better even tho the P20 pro has OLED. I do like the colors on the P20 pro screen better tho

I think if you value the ultra wide angle a lot then I would pay for the Mate 20. But if you don't need the ultra wide angle then I would go for the p20 pro since they both have good camera quality

Please be consistent, sometimes you're saying "mate 20" then "mate 20 pro"

How low light photos looks like?

P20 pro blew the sky out seriously at 4:55, the Mate 20 saved the clouds nicely. Video stabilization is better on the Mate 20. Also to be noted, the P20 pro is curved glass and some people don't like it, also Mate 20 is IPS LCD, P20 pro is OLED. Mate 20 has a wider screen but doesn't have advanced face ID tech. P20 Pro does better night shots, but not in all circumstances. I'd say you can't go wrong with either one, but if you're a nitpicker you have to look into the small details what you like better.

Really? Day mode p20is so oversaturated that it loses the color detail in some pic Nightmode p20 just oversaturated with yellow color it looks fake compare to mate20

I don't care about 4k video, because I have gopro black 7 and even with it I still use 1080 because I'm using it only for youtube, insta and facebook (if I'm about to sell video sto stock sites I'll film in 4k maybe, just maybe), so I'm waiting for my new p20 pro which arrives tomorrow :) 35% cheaper and photo quality is the same (I have superwide feature from my gopro if I need it ;) )

For longevity, I would go for the mate 20 (pro), the chipset on the p20 (pro) is a bit outdated. The price of the mate 20 series is a bit scary now. If you can buy it from China, where it is way cheaper, do it without even thinking.

nice to see the differences, however I dont hear your remarks on the Mate 20 concerning jpg compression and resolution in photo's. WHen I take an image for example of a complex structure you can see the camera makes this structure kind of blurry. Like an auto smoothe setting. And I cant find any way to stop this setting in the Phone. Any suggestions????
