Thanks for sharing. Will try your advise. Got a.small one but it has been outside & rainy lately. Will move it under the shaded area.👍

i have one on verge of yellow death and looking for help. i did what u said due to over watering. i took it out of the big deep pot n let it air dry outside. (im also in florida) and it slowed down the yellowing. now im going to buy it a terracotta bowl 🥣 n see if it likes that better and stops the yellowing. the nursery soil was soggy n retaining tons of water. i have removed as much around the roots without disturbing them. 🤞🏽🤞🏽 wish me luck saving it 🪴 because i love this plant 😢

Thank you. I like your advice on the watering. Do you ever give her some fertilizer, and if so, what do you use and at what strength.

No fertilizer! Hoyas can be VERY sensitive to fertilizer, from my own experience. Some Hoyas can look at fertilizer and die lol

Thanks for your video! How often do you repot this type of hoya?

I haven’t reported it since I got it a couple years ago. Hoyas can go a verrryyyyy long time without repotting. It’s nice.

This is a great question because I think these are misunderstood. It can handle a lot of moisture on the part of the plant above the ground, but it wants it's roots to be held out of the water. I experimented putting one in a terrarium, but I put it on a thick bed of lava rock, bark, and calcined clay, to hold it out of any potential standing water. It infamously grows slow, and likes to be crowded and root bound, so I just tried to recreate the sediment and loose wood that this plant would cling to in nature, but I slope my bottom soil to the extreme, to give the hoya a feeling similar to damp mountain air. Amazingly, it is as if the plant knows what kind of sapce it is working with, but it was crucial that I go extremely slow with any watering, leaving the moss on my slope damp, but the dirt and rock underneath and on top all looks dry. Most of my terrariums would hold much more water, but having a ton of calcined clay, lava rock, and orchid bark, compared to the rest of the coco coir dirst I use, was essential. So, my experiment could be evidence of either answer to your question...having water collect well beneath the roots is not an issue, but I think it is 100% true that the above-ground part of the plant appreciates moisture more than the roots, which can't handle much moisture at all. Long answer, but I hope this helps. I just adore my Curtsii...also check out the Hoya Wayetti, which comes in many varieties of verigation and behaves a lot like the Curtisii. You may already be aware.
