Hoya Curtisii Care // Propagation // Turned Out Very Easy Hoya to Propagate

Hoya Curtisii care and propagation. Turned out it's a very easy Hoya to propagate. Just like many of you, I struggled to root this hoya for many years until one day I finally had enough and decided to try one more time and to my surprise, it worked so well and extremely fast. In this video, I want to share with you how to root this hoya so you can propagate this hoya successfully. I hope you will find this video very helpful.

The best way I propagated this plant was to take some sphagnum moss and wet it place in a small container and lay the cuttings on the moist sphagnum moss and place the lid over it. I put a few holes in the lid of the container and put in a warm lit area left it alone. After a few months I had a pretty good size plant.

That is definitely another great way to propagate. There is definitely not a right or wrong way of propagating. I do propagate some plants that way too, I’m just not a big fan of sphagnum moss.😉

Thank you! I feel it’s a most common mistake people make with plants, and every plant has its own way of letting you know when it needs water. Plants that I understand I will always share. Of course there’s some that are very difficult to read and I still overwater sometimes too.💚

Awesome! I have a small 4” Curtisii that I got this year. She’s done well outside, hopefully to continue her journey is doing well once I get her in the house! One question-once they’re all rooted up and ready to go in a pot of their own-how do you acclimate them to being outside of your prop box? I’ve had a few issues with losing new leaves. My house is around 50% humidity, which I’m able to set-so that’s where it usually stays. But I do keep it cool I’m my house. Maybe that’s the issue?! Anyway-another great video! Thank you!!!!! 💚💚💚

I usually put them in my grow tent on the shelf for a little wile, then I move them anywhere in my house. If you don’t have a grow tent just put them under a grow light or somewhere where your Hoyas do the best. As a temperature, I’m not sure. My house is opposite I like it warm, it’s always 72-74 here. 😊

I am so glad it’s doing well for you! If you only got one vine you can probably wrap it in the pot and just pin it down at the nodes. I would not be surprised if you get a bunch of new growth points on every node 😊

  • @ElenasGreenPlanet

I find it that all Hoyas grow very slow in the beginning until they adjust to your environment. Also I believe they grow roots first and once they are done filling up the pot that’s when they takeoff growing. Curtisii if you touch mature leaves they get a little bit thinner when they need water. I think 2 inch pot might need water once a week. It’s all depends on your environment. If leaves turn yellow then you watering too much. I hope it helps.😊

  • @ElenasGreenPlanet

First of all, congratulations on scoring a giant Hoya! 💚 As of lighting and location, it doesn’t really matter. Hoyas love sun too, in fact she might bloom for you more in better lighting. The only reason why I like to keep them in lower light because I find them bleach out in too much sun and I just don’t like the look of bleached out foliage. That is my personal preference. I think the best thing you can do is put her where you want her to be and kind of observe, you can always move her to a different location. Also, every Hoya is different, some of them sun stress beautifully, some get bleached out, some get more splashy. In fact, my Hoya Pubicalyx was originally grown on east window, and it was very bleached out, and I had to move her for that reason. With Hoya curtisii, I have grown her in a few different spots except south window, and she was doing just fine. The only reason I have not tried to grow her on south window just because I don’t have much space there.
