Hello, My name is Elena! Becoming a KZreadr was never my dream, but my son "My KZread manager" was telling me for 2 years that I absolutely have to share my plants and my experience. Yes! Listened to my 9-year-old at that time, and here I am doing just that. Plants make me happy! I have a pretty large collection of houseplants. A little bit of everything, and a lot of Hoyas. I would like to share my experience growing plants with you. I have some very chunky bark prices that I guess I can use instead of rocks for a space filler.
That should work. Just keep in mind bark breaks down after a while, but it should last until pot fills up with roots.
Do you suggest should it stay in the self watering pot it came in and continue to water that way or remove it and report it?
If it came in the self watering pot, I would keep it in self watering pot. I think roots are a little bit different when plants are grown self watering pot. They might not acclimate to soil. Plus it’s a little bit easier to gauge when it needs water. It’s pretty difficult plant to grow from my experience.

Oh my gosh, you are too funny! I guess they are all going to your house now 😂. I hope it will help me with my allergies, but I also found out today how much joy it brought me to share my cuttings. I actually feel pretty good about it! I am so ready for more manageable collection and let go of plants that don’t bring me as much joy anymore and hopefully it will help with allergies. I want those plants to bring happiness to people as much as they brought happiness to me 😊 💚

Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary to sell my mix since anyone can make it probably for less than a shipping cost. It is coco coir and vermiculite. Very easy, and inexpensive.

LOL Well I missed the code and combined shipping on my first order and then needed to add one more of your lovely cuttings so I just ordered it separate. Go ahead and combine it in with my first order. I am sorry you have to deal with this allergy. I have one plant in my yard that breaks me out in hives and am destroying it even when I see a wee start of it. And of all things it is Feverfew. I grew it for years and loved it and all of a sudden I turned allergic to it.

Again my bad for not waiting to be sure if I needed that 4th hoya. LOL Having to down size plants kind of sucks. I have really been purging here too. Mostly I just want to make room for plants I really love. Sending the struggle buss plants to someone else that probably has better growing conditions than I do. I wish I had just collected philodendrons and hoyas in my plant journey. But after growing plants since the early 70's that was kind of hard to do. I will say I do not regret any plants I given away. I loved them enjoyed them and now some one else can.

That’s the thing with Etsy. I can only print shipping label for each order. I’m still figuring out how everything works on Etsy. As of downsizing, I feel really good about it since my jungle is getting out of control here. Just like you I’m going to downsize quite a bit and then I will still get some new Hoyas that I had on my wish list for a while. I like new challenges. And my allergies cannot stop me from that 😂. Seeing how happy people were today including you to purchase my Hoyas made me so happy, and made it very easy to let them go! Thank so much! ❤️

And I so understand why you’re downsizing. I just downsized my plants over the Winter, not just Hoyas (I have a lots of different types of plants). It was honestly wearing me out and taking away my joy of them. Ones that were not doing well that I had honestly spent way too much time on babying and they were still not well…gone. Cut up overgrown sand gave away cuttings. It just really mentally helped me. lol. Thank goodness no plant allergies here, but I was losing my passion. And I felt like I had way too many to really love them all and take really good care of them all. They all look so much better, likely because I have the time and renewed love for them!!! 💚💚💚
This hobby is definitely taking up a lot of time. Between family, my real job, KZread, hockey and two homes. I’m not even going in to allergy, it is definitely a lot. I’m looking forward to downsize and hopefully get a little bit more time for other things. I am actually very excited to share my cuttings. It brought me so much joy, more than I thought it would bring. It felt so good today to send them out to people who were so excited to get them! I think that’s what made it so easy to let them go 😊❤️💚

I’m really sorry that you have to down size your plants. But I had an allergy to something that caused me to break out in hives. They were horrible. I’m glad the drs found out what it was. When I got the hives they covered all over my body. Especially my face. That was hard to deal with. I understand how you feel.
Sorry to hear that you went through the same thing. Hives are definitely very painful. I’m actually not too upset about downsizing my collection. I think it’s got out of control a little bit. I am ready to let some plants go and hopefully they will bring a lot of joy to other people 😊💚

Its Hoya obscura 'Philip'. Very easy and fast growing Hoya and blooms pretty early.

Yes, Hoyas releases their scent in the evening. Sometimes it’s a good thing 😂.
is there a specific time to spray them because i hear that with some products you have to use them early in the morning or at night
I’m not sure if there is specific time for this particular product. I treat my plants whenever I have time but I do wait for them to dry off before I put them back under a grow light to avoid burning. So far have not had any problems.

I’m so happy that I came across your channel on Clowesia orchids. I bought one online in April and waited until mid-April to start giving it a little water after roots got about 1 1/2” long. Roots on one side of pseudobulb rotted but ones on other side are still sending out shoots. I’m hoping that they continue to grow. 😊. Thank you so much for this video. I love the Clowesia orchids and hope to learn to successfully grow them.
I’m so happy you were able to find this beauty and my channel! Although I’m not an expert on Cloweias but we can learn together as we go. I feel that after one year of taking care of them and blooming them we will know exactly what we’re doing 😊💚

I used to since I use a different medium to propagate, but I don’t do it anymore. There is no point in it whatsoever. Also, Hoya roots are so sensitive this way less disruption for them.

Hello and thank you! 💚 All of my small Hoyas that are still in propagation cups are in my propagation medium, which is coco coir and vermiculite. Everything else, including Serpens in my regular medium, which is soil, orchid, bark, charcoal, and perlite. I try to keep things simple, this hobby is busy enough.
love the channel very informative but I would like to know when to water the propagation while in the prop box how long did it take to dry up on a heating mat ?
Propagations on a heat mat if they are in the box (and I do have holes on my box lids they are also under a crow light) I water once a week. That’s why I like my propagation medium. You can actually see when they dry out. Medium turns light brown, very helpful.

That’s why I was so obsessed when I saw it at the plant show. I just love how weird it is, it’s just sticks and blooms. I know how it feels, I have about 12 orchids and I’m trying not to go down that rabbit hole 😂.
