    I am using pumice for my aerated mixes. I heard that the finer the roots, the finer the substrate should be. My little slip of Hoya curtisii 'aloha' is arriving today!

    Do you keep water in the reservoir constantly. Or do you let there be periods of dryness?

    Hi! We allow the water to drop almost to the bottom then refill. And we do a complete change out of the water monthly. Hope this was helpful.😀🪴

    Can you share where you purchased the pots? Also, regarding the Leca, I’ve heard that Leca from China (the same sold at IKEA) doesn’t wick as well as other Leca. Do you find that this is true or not? Thanks!!

    Hi there, on the pots we bought them at Amazon- link: www.amazon.com/Watering-Hanging-Planters-Flowers-ShoppeWatch/dp/B07RXSLFXK. Note these pots have a deep water reservoir, so you will be adding a bit more water for a leca system to work. I chose these pots because we could attach it to a wall. On your question on Leca, I think the Ikea Leca is a bit more dusty, than others... but I haven't noticed less wicking. As to my preference on LECA, we like Hydroton. Link below. Hope this helps, Cheers! www.amazon.com/Hydroton-Original-Clay-Pebbles-Lightweight/dp/B01KYYZ9DE/ref=asc_df_B01KYYZ9DE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=196304582155&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4195446245072977835&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011908&hvtargid=pla-313309221246&th=1

    Hi there, you want to have the water to fill about 1.5" of LECA for a medium container, 3" for a larger container and we like to change out water for once a month.😀🪴

    Why not use the butterfly method?

  • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

    @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

    3 жыл бұрын

    Butterfly is good for making new plants grow from the top of planter, but if you want to get a head start, I feel it's best to get a few 3 or 4" cutting strings to root, that way you speed up the process of getting a new hanging house plant. and you can do a mix of butterfly method and string cuttings to fill out your hoya having best of both worlds. Hope this helps M

    That's variegated string of hearts

  • @LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

    Nope. It's definitely a Hoya Curtisii, but the hoya does have some similarities in looks with variegated string of hearts. But also clear differences. I have a variegated string of hearts and leaves have a pink cast to them and leaves are more rounded and heart shaped. Also String of hearts does not produce aerial roots like the Curtisii.

    That's amazing! I'm very happy for you, but the plant on the right in the video is certainly a variegated string of hearts. I'm curious of you other one since that one looks different.

  • @leetjemei

    Oh no. I was watching the video without sound and you do say that's a variegated string of hearts. I meant the small square pot at about a minute and a half. The pot you are propogating is a Curtisii, but there is no such thing as a variegated Curtisii. I'm sorry for the mistake with the string of hearts.
