Hoya Curtisii repotting

Hi everyone, welcome my name is Karla, currently living in Chicago but missing Houston Texas! I decided to make a video about repotting this beautiful curtisii that I got from Lowe’s last week, I can not lie I was freaking out when I saw it! Please share this video for anyone who might be looking on how to do this, I had a hard time finding one so it’s the reason why I just made my own to share. It was a long job but it had to be done so if you are thinking about doing this please set aside at least 1 hour to do so. Thank you for checking this video out, I truly appreciate it please leave me a comment with any other suggestions you might have.

I think it looks really good, Girl!!! I wish you could see mine...I got it from Lowes for $5 and it was so, so overwatered with a few yellow leaves on the ends... Is been almost a little over a month and it looks a little better, but I don't understand the yellowing of only a few... Do you know what that is? I thought about repotting it that's how I found you!!!

Danielle KPs wowww Danielle $5?! That’s an awesome deal! Yeah so after reporting mine went through some days of readjusting but it looks great now! They love to be completely dried out before watering again so the yellow leaves could be because of the super wet soil. You shouldn’t be alarm just check the soil now and see if it’s dry completely and water it but also remove those yellow leaves since the plant will spend some energy on them still. Hope this helps 😊 and I would love to hear if you end up reporting! Also thank you so much for watching ❤️

Hi Brenda I’m so happy you were able to get a Hoya Curtisii! So because I live in chicago I won’t be leaving mine outside but I have seen many people who do but in a shaded area. During the summer though I will continue to take outside and slowly acclimate it to the inside come mid September. Water your Curtisii once it’s fully dry the pot will feel lighter and you can use your finger to check. When watering make sure you water thoroughly and you see the water filter through. If you have it inside make sure you set it in an area where it will get the most light. I will have mine on a south facing window. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else.

How did your Hoya curtisii fair after this? Not sure if you posted an update, I recieved one in the mail much smaller than yours bare root a few weeks ago so after potting it up a few strands died back and yellowed...I only water once a week and I planted it in a chunky epiphyte mix... I'm thinking now I should have put it my cactus mix. Would love to know how this plant is doing, thank you for the video I wad under the impression that this plant was super delicate!

Korin Galvao hi Korin thank you so much for watching this video! My curtisii is looking way better now it did go to a week of adjusting to the new soil and it looked sad for that week once it adjusted it started thriving. For watering I suggest waiting until the soil is completely dry and then water. I can post an update video as well with some tips as well 😊. Hope this helps, do you still have some of the plant left?

@@bloomwithmechi7427 yes there's one main vine with 2vines branching off of it left, seems like it's settling in, but the leaves are so thin and usually there supposed to be plump they all have red backs now too so I'm thinking I'm giving it easy more sun than it original got. This plant to me is very hard to read! If a leaf starts to yellow takes almost a week for it to completely yellow, not like other plants that droop and perk up. I ended up ordering another one from another seller on etsy that was bigger and shipped with nursery pot, it came in yesterday but thru shipping soil is every where some vines are covered, and some up rooted I was thinking if re-potting but I'm almost scared too! Lol, I'd love to see an up-date/care video

@@bloomwithmechi7427 HI! So I did the same thing, almost, I did not wash the roots with water, it looks like its struggling a little but its only been 4 days. I was told that repotting a Curtisii is not a good idea and that I probably killed my plant. However, it was sitting in soaked soil that wouldn't dry, so I'm sure it would have died anyway. I took a chance and got it out of that wet soil. Should I go back and get the rest of that soil off the roots? I'm afraid that will be too much stress. Thank you.

I also had a water soaked Curtisii from Lowe’s.... it did finally get root rot, and now I have the last couple of pieces in new, well draining soil in a tiny pot. I contacted Costa Farms... they didn’t really care I wasted my money! This video gave me the courage to rinse and repot what I had left. Thank you!

Korin Galvao hi Korin, sorry this has taken me a while to respond but yes I’m planning on making update and care video. The main key is that they love to get fully dry before watering again. And they love the sun too, but you do have to be careful of how much sun you are giving her.

You probably could've just cut back on watering. Hoya's don't like their roots disturbed and can live in the same pot for year's. People watch Planterina on the care of Hoya's!

Thanks for your comment, thankfully this plant is doing just fine. The one that did die was the one that I did not re potted. Which in this case I probably should of changed both of them. But I did want to do an experiment.
