New subscriber here! Thank you so, so much for this video! I'm not new to the Hoya world but I am new to leca. Great visual on how to "flush" your plant! Mine haven't been in leca long enough to flush yet, but the time will come and now I know what the hell to do! Thanks! Sorry if you shared this already (I haven't looked) but do you have a link to the fertilizer you use???

Hi! New subscriber to your channel. I just received my Hoya Curtisii today. Have many house plants & several Hoyas. Had this one in the past and it went into a blooming frenzy about 2-3 weeks after I purchased in the mail. It then just crashed & gave out & died. Nothing worked to save it so I finally waited to purchase another at a reasonable price. My ? Is do you ever use the jack's bloom 1/2 strength on your Curtisii? The plant I purchased has a penduncle but I know they can drop them. It's a well established plant about the size of your mama plant but not quite as long. Thanks and also wanted to mention that I loved your printout of care instructions. I am going to watch your cuttings video. Agree this is an absolutely gorgeous Hoya & my fav. The fragrance is amazing and the mint green blooms are just too cute.💚🌱

Hi Debbie! I’m sorry your Curtisii gave out, such a bummer. On fertilizer Yes, Jacks bloom booster 10-30-20 would be great, but at half strength like loom you suggest, making the fert ratio a 5-15-10 which is close to the ratio that many other Hoya growers are doing to encourage blooming. (Phosphorus /Middle number needs to be the highest). And on application- I would add the bloom booster to Curtisii once a month form April thru Sept and place her where she can get some super bright light during summer months, that will encourage her to bloom for you. I hope this helps! 😀🪴

super informative, thank you! My curtisii is doing awesome BUT new leaves are all green. Is that usually for baby leaves and splashing will show up as they mature or does she need more light?

You are most welcome. And yes, that is normal. The Hoya baby leaves will be all green then will change into the pretty mottled variegation as leaf grows. So no need to move her if she is putting out new growth😃🪴

Thanks for this helpful info!! I have one in a soil mix substrate but recently have found some of the leaves are yellowing :( i wait until it’s dried before watering and it’s in a NW facing window. Any ideas on how to prevent her from turning yellow? Thanks for your help!!

Hi! Your hoya might be yellowing from too much light. Does your hoya catch any direct sunlight in the afternoon?

  • @atxadri

She gets about 4 hours of direct sunlight. But it’s also Texas sunlight so may be too much. I’ll try moving her to a better spot! Thanks for responding!

Yes, I think the sun might be a bit too much, and please let me know how she is doing after a few weeks in her new spot. Cheers.

Thanks for the videos Michael. Do you mist the curtisii? I've just bought one and it seems rather dry. I live in South Africa. The stems on mine are very woody, I see from your mother plant, the stem are green? Do you have a humidifier? What's your humidity level? I "taco" test the leaves before I water. Is mine gonna die?

Hi there! I'm sorry you are having issues with your Hoya. I do not mist our hoya curtisii. We have ours growing indoors and so we have a relatively low humidity level due to a/c. I believe our humidity is between 30 @40% (we live in Miami and going in and out of our door onto our balcony brings so that brings in some moisture so maybe 40%) But our 3 hoyas are doing fine. All have bright light and as you know from video we have 2 babies growing in leca pebbles, and mama growing in soil. As to taco test, it can be helpful but your mature leaves should stay firm all the time, even between waterings. To help you further, I need more info, did you get the hoya as a cutting or as an older plant? The woody stem tells me that it must be kinda old. I have no woody stems on mine.

@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Thanks for the reply. I bought it as a rooted plant. Not sure how old it is, but it's definitely not as lush as yours. It's roots are attached to a piece of wood.
