Thank you for making this video! I've found care stuff online, but I like videos!!! Care: Dappled/Filtered/Indirect light for 6-8 Acidic soil with peat and perlite Easily propagated Water when 25%-50% dry Loves humidity Pinch/Prune for bushier growth Flowers pretty consistently when happy

Hello, I wanted to ask if you can help me with my plant. I splitted my codonanthe gracilis and now both plants won’t grow anymore. They are both alive and green but no flowers or fruit. Do you have any tips on how I can stimulate their growing? Greetings from Austria🌱😊

If you're doing a video on them, you should know if they are succulents, which they are.

i'd love to get a tineke or a shiverena one. so expensive though lol. I got a burgundy rubber though one of my favs started as i think maybe 24" from costa farms, two of em in a 9" pot. now its 10 ft tall in a 12" pot lol and probably gonna need a repot this season. I have to tie it up and its stretching across room now. Even started branching by itself on the bottom to fill in its area between wall and bureau on both plants. best house plant if you want something very tall imo.

I bought a plant in walmart about 8 years ago with no tag and for the life of me could never find what it was. Yesterday i was browsing in lowes and saw a plant that looked beautifully familiar! I jumped up and down in joy! After feeling those velvety leaves...my plant!...and it had a tag on it..codonanthe!... i cant believe i found another one and now know what it is! She looks beautiful hanging in my kitchen window where i can always see her..lol

I found one at Lowe's last week and I bought it, but the tag just said "Houseplant" lol. It took a lot of googling but I finally found out it's a codonanthe! Now I know how to care for it. I'm in love with it 😍 it's my new favorite for sure!

i have one on verge of yellow death and looking for help. i did what u said due to over watering. i took it out of the big deep pot n let it air dry outside. (im also in florida) and it slowed down the yellowing. now im going to buy it a terracotta bowl 🥣 n see if it likes that better and stops the yellowing. the nursery soil was soggy n retaining tons of water. i have removed as much around the roots without disturbing them. 🤞🏽🤞🏽 wish me luck saving it 🪴 because i love this plant 😢

I found one of these recently at Home Depot and it was not labeled. It was in a pot just like the Hoya Curtissii so I thought it was a Hoya Serpens but sadly it is not. Tfs

I have a 16” pot with drain holes, my soil stays damp for 3-4 weeks according to my soil meter. Any other suggestions to keep soil “dyer”? I also have 2 ficus plants-tineke and burgundy. Thanks

thats a big pot man. how old is your plants? you might want to put it in smaller port. I have a couple 10 ft tall burgundy rubbers in a single 12" pot I've been growing for 5 years from costa farms amazon delivery, originally came in a 9" pot and I've repotted once in 5 years. watering like once a week still. Once I end up watering two times a week which might be by the end of this season I'm only going to a 14" pot. I use a moisture meter and put it half way down the pot and once the needle stars leaning ever so slightly to the left I water making sure to water before it gets to the red. If it goes to the red you waited too long. fully water evenly around pot till u see it come out the bottom. let it drain for 15 mins and empty the drain tray. Maybe you can throw sand on top over time will mix with the soil, keeps away gnats too lol.

Codonanthe (by the way, you did pronounce it correctly with the pronunciation of the e at the end of anthe) is an epiphyte so in the wild it is found festooning the branches of trees with its roots attached to the bark of the tree for anchor and catching leaf litter for nutrients. It is similar in nature to other epiphytic trailing members of Gesneriaceae or the Gesneriad family of plants (the African Violets as you mentioned) like Aeschynanthus, Alsobia, Alloplectus, Columnea, Episcia, and Nematanthus. Great plant to have, I personally have been looking for it in garden centers here in Canada but without going the route of ordering online I haven't found one to grow personally.

The etymology of the name comes from the Greek kodon, which means “bell,” and anthe, which means “flower.” The name refers to the bell-shaped (campanulate) form of the blossoms.

I'm gunna point my humidifier near them (I just got em). I use it during winter. It's been down to -44°f in my area so it gets really dry heating the house. A humidifier will help big time for people in colder climates.

In the propagation method you described where you wrap the vine into a circle and pin it down, do new vines begin growing from each node or only the tip end?

When I repot any plant I keep the dirt on and just put it in another pot , add more soil , it doesn’t even realize it was reported and the roots just naturally spread out . No stress on plant . 😊

My Hastatum is my pet plant too. The gorgeous colored, thick stiff leaves really sets it apart from other plants. I live in the tropics so it is the perfect environment for this plant. I use rice hull, & vermicompost only as my potting medium as humidity is very high here & an overly wet medium can be an issue since the humid air retards evaporation of the medium or substrate. I like your video & the way you present. Thanks for sharing. .
