Being a white working class man from Scotland , you Howard, Jody and Jeffrey were my lifeline from the drab day to day drag of life. Me and my friend would let each other know when you were appearing on tv whether that was Top if the pops or the Tube on which you done a fantastic live performance by the way back then, we were mesmerised by Jeffrey’s high vocals and his moon walk, your and Jody’s vocals which were so complimentary to each other . I still find your music relevant here in 2023, it took me through relationship break ups and good times in the 80’s. I’m 63 now and Howard we all make mistakes and I tip my hat to you making this apology and I feel your hurt in looking back as I have done this very much to my my own detriment. We can only say sorry and grow as a person not to take what we done when we were younger into our final years. Regret is a terrible thing Howard , god bless you and I hope to get ticket to come and see you in Glasgow this year . 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Shalamar had an album entitled "Friends" and it was a gatefold LP. When you opened the album there's a large picture of Jeff, Jody and Howard all smiles with interlocking hands. That's how I always viewed them. And no matter what transpired after that it never tarnished my memory of that image of them smiling and holding hands. I've always loved Shalamar.

And I certain;y am not one to judge the depth or sincerity of the apology, but here it is and it was made. As fans, we are greedy for the performance, the possible reunion and the happily ever after. We can only hope that Jody can accept it for what it is worth and the three of them can work things out while they are all still here and able to create magic again, not just for us, but for them as well.

This is so fake and insincere. Those so called "friends" never called you on it before? You said those are friends that will tell you if you're wrong...so they didn't tell you you were wrong for 40 years? Some "friends" those are. And, you only "prayed" about this last night? You did not "pray" about this over the past 40 years? You "sat" on this for 40 years, did not "pray" about it then, did not seek advice from your "friends" then - but only in the PAST FEW DAYS? Because in the PAST FEW DAYS , you went on Vladtv and you said you had no idea "what Jody's disagreement was about "to this day!". And then you followed up with saying that the problems were about, "young people growing up". What are you referring to specifically, Howard, when you say the problems were about "young people growing up", because just moments earlier you said you did not know to this day what the "disagreements were about". Make up your mind coward howard what lie your gonna push enough times and hopefully people will believe it. Why do cowards always use religion to cover for their inability to man-up and be responsible for their lives? If you are "truly, truly, truly sorry" - pay Jody Watley the money you absconded with. If you are truly sorry as you say you are - give Jody Watley the money you owe her. Jody moved on a long time ago so don't make it sound like she's been "sitting on this" like you were. You were the one sitting on this. You just got religious last night? Or, were you religious 10, 15, 25, 35 years ago but still didn't care about apologizing to Jody? None of what you just said sounds sincere. You make it sound like Jody was the one who went behind your back and obtained a $1 million dollar ADVANCE and didn't share it with her group. YOU did that! And, you make it sound like she was the villain back then. The one thing that I'm really satisfied about is that over the past 40 years I never purchased any of your music. You are despicable.

@@griffmustard Public opinion is irrelevant. What ever was said is a private issue between the two of them. An apology, if intended to be sincere, should be in private as well. Attempting to force a public response from a KZread video is more of a publicity stunt than an apology. Howard hasn't told the 'Court of Public Opinion" precisely what he said to Jody that was so offensive, so we can't judge him, but 'Court of Public Opinion' is to judge Jody for not responding. Jody's public acceptance of Howard's public apology would be what . . . . Ah yes, the Shalimar reunion tour.

Dear Howard, I truly wish that you could realize the incredible impact that classic Shalamar (Jeffrey, Jody & Howard) had on me personally growing up. Your group represented so many positive things for young black men and women around the world. You created beautiful music, you were beautiful people, you dressed so dope, the image of 3 beautiful black people making beautiful music for the world inspired me to pursue music and songwriting. The sound that Leon Sylvers created around your 3 voices was undeniable and most fans will agree that there is something magical about the blending of Howard's voice with Jody's voice. There is a signature vibe that no other group had at that time. It was spiritual. I remember when Jody Watley accepted the award for Best New Artist at the 1988 Grammy Awards. The tears she cried in that moment were tears of vindication and of a deeper hurt that she was carrying within her for years. Winning that Grammy was a testament to the significant contributions she made to the look, sound, and appeal of Shalamar years earlier. Her voice was the original voice that helped define the Shalamar sound from the very beginning. When Howard joined the group a few years later the group truly became a visual and musical powerhouse. I am a huge fan for life and I pray that Jody receives your message in pure love and it helps to release any lingering pain, hurt, fear, animosity, or doubt that may dwell within her heart. (She is such a beautiful soul). You guys are too dope to be apart anymore. Long Live The Magic & The Music of SHALAMAR. I pray that the three of you will reunite and create something special for your MILLIONS of fans around the world. We are still here awaiting your return to the studio and the stage. Take Care & God Bless.

Mr Hewett, I AM so proud of you. What you’ve done took courage, love for humanity and the acceptance of being vulnerable. You made me tear up. I felt that sincere apology deep in my core and it wasn’t even for me. As a woman who’s felt deserving of an apology for mistreatment and pain caused I can say yours was beautiful. I pray Ms. Watley hears you with her heart and sees you now for who you are with her mind and accepts your gesture of forgiveness and can forgive herself for holding on to this pain for so long. IMHO, Some times we as women just need someone to defend us and be there for us so we don’t feel we’re in this alone or be called crazy because we stand alone in defending ourselves. What a blessing we are in this the Age of Aquarius. Love is upon us always in all ways. Blessings to you 🕊✨🙏🏼✨

What are you referring to specifically, Howard, when you say the problems were about "young people growing up", because just moments earlier you said you "did not know to this day" what the "disagreements were about". Make up your mind what lie your gonna push enough times and hopefully people will believe it. Why do cowards always use religion to cover for their inability to man-up and be responsible for their lives? If you are "truly, truly, truly sorry" - pay Jody Watley the money you absconded with. If you are truly sorry as you say you are - give her the money you owe Jody Watley. In recent days you went on Vladtv and said you really didn't know what the "disagreement" was between you and Jody back then! You said it was " just us all growing up. We were young and just growing up". Now, a few days later you are trying to apologize to Jody? Why? I thought you didn't know what the disagreement was all about? You went on to say that "to this day I don't know what that was all about." But now you're apologizing. Make up your mind what lie you're gonna use. Stick to one lie, dude. And, you make it sound like she was the villain back then. The one thing that I'm really satisfied about is that over the past 40 years I never purchased any of your music.

I guess I'm just looking at the I'm sorry & trying to give Jodi Watley something she & they may need after 40yrs. Howard Hewett was big for this. Only Jodi Watley can determine its meaning. Maybe they can leave the past behind. Reunited or not, they can still celebrate one another & Shalamar before they leave the world

Whelp...There you have it. God moved this mountain and I hope Jody will receive the apology in the spirit to which it was given. May the Lord see fit to bring you all together again. We miss you all. Keep blessing..

Mr. Hewitt you are a very gifted man who was joined to two very culturally impactful people. That is not only rare , but very God blessed and amazing. As a black man and a serious praying christian. I am very proud of each and every one of you and all of your accomplishments. A gospel album from you all as a group would be a dream come true and bring great healing between you all. Let the apologies, forgiveness, and balm of love began your healing and mending process may the Lord keep watch over your souls in Jesus name amen.
