Denzel Washington Confronts Quentin Tarantino About Never Working Together | Jonathan Ross

Ойын-сауық

Jonathan Ross sits down with the legendary actor, Denzel Washington, for a candid and thought-provoking discussion covering a wide range of topics.
#JonathanRoss #DenzelWashington #Equalizer3
One of the most intriguing revelations of the interview was Mr. Washington's dedication to his craft. He opened up about his incredible physical transformation, gaining an impressive 40 pounds for his latest role in "Pelham 123." In his characteristic humor, Denzel shared, "Every wife wants their husband to be plump." It's a testament to his commitment to his roles.
Denzel also spoke highly of his co-star in "Pelham 123," John Travolta. He praised Travolta's ability to portray compelling antagonists, calling him "a good bad guy" and highlighting his sweet and genuine personality off-screen.
The conversation took a heartfelt turn when Denzel expressed his passion for sports and his dream of becoming a professional athlete. He shared, "I'm living it through my son; I'd have loved to have gone professional." This glimpse into his personal aspirations and family connection adds depth to our understanding of the acclaimed actor.

When my kids asked me who my favorite actor is, I said Denzel. They said "why?" Then I showed them Man on Fire (they're not ready for Training Day yet). It convinced them. For reference, the other two actors in my top 3 are Leo and Sam Jackson. And if I had to round off a top 5, let's throw in Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks. But Denzel will always be #1 for me. Edit: for female actresses, Meryl, Julia, Kidman, Salma, and Winslet. Not that I need put them in a separate category because of gender, I just relate more to the male actors I guess.

@13:00 Quentin question. Great interview. A search shows that Denzel had an argument with Tarantino during filming of Crimson Tide in 94, calling dialogue he added racist. In 2002 Denzel apologized to him and they settled it. This interview was in 2009. By the filming of Django in 2011, Denzel’s daughter worked as an editorial PA on the set, according to him in 2012. However, the two still haven’t worked together by the time of my comment in fall of 23.

This hasn't aged well. This was back when Hollywood insiders and mostly everyone else was still in a deep lull, having been sold by the media that Obama and the previous admins were decent. Now Denzel has opened his eyes to many things and has a much different point of view of the Obamas and how they duped much of the population. Though it would still be interesting to see Denzel portray the dark side of the administration and the former president, that he now is aware of.

I believe, if rumours are correct, this is why they likely won't work together. They're both just PR-trained professionals, and wouldn't talk about it on a talk show.

@@billking1751 I heard two stories which I'm pretty sure are true that may or may not be related to each other: The first is that frequent Washington collaborator Spike Lee had become aware of * "Pulp Fiction" and called producer Harvey Weinstein because he had an issue with Tarantino, a white man, employing the use of the word "nigger". This rankled Trantino because Lee had gone to Weinstein with his problems instead of coming to him. The second is that Washington confronted Tarantino over his use of the word while the two of them where on the set of "Crimson Tide" **. * I'm a little fuzzy on the timeline of events, so I don't know whether Lee had seen an early cut of the film or read the shooting script. I do know that "Pulp Fiction" was released theatrically in 1994, which would have been around the time that "Crimson Tide" was in production, as it came out a year later. ** Tarantino did some uncredited script doctoring for "Crimson Tide", which was helmed by True Romance director Tony Scott. Hunter's reference to The Silver Surfer is widely believed to be an addition made by Tarantino.
