    I'm an old Texan...my Dad was a WWII Naval officer....I'm so deeply ashamed of my country. I grew up believing our country was far from perfect, but as good as it gets. That cliche won't work anymore. From Guatemala and Iran till today it just gets worse and worse and worse...not only foreign policy horrors, but new policies towards college debt, threatening to garnish Social Security and take away drivers Licenses, and harass relatives. Well, think about it this way: Say you own a sporting goods store and you sell 5 men baseball bats. 3 men use the bats to play baseball and 1 man uses the bat for home defense. But the 5th man, uses his bat to harm someone. Is it your fault that he hurt someone? I would say no, unless you reasonably knew that was his intention. It's the same thing with the US selling weapons. To the US's knowledge, the ammunition was being used for strategic purposes. It is not necessarily the US's fault for supplying weapons.

  • @user-gk9pl6vl5v

    @user-gk9pl6vl5v

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@devinm.7265 Let's replace the bats with bombs and chemical weapons, in which case, yes, you're absolutely responsible for selling them to a fascist country. It's not like the USA never knew how horrific of a country Saudi is, and it's not like they never knew about the Yemen war/genocide. Even in the example with the bat, there is a difference between selling it on a random person you know nothing about, and selling it to a famous gangster. Also, the USA has a long history in supporting and even covering up tyrants, war crimes, genocides, and so on, so it's not a stretch to think they only care about their own interests.

    @@devinm.7265 Hi friend, I don't know that the baseball bat analogy works since baseball bats aren't intended to hurt people but, yes, you could hurt a person with one. Using a different anaology: If a drug dealer sells heroin to 5 people, 4 of them don't overdose but one does, is drug dealers fault? Not entirely since people make their own choices but I think that the drug dealer would share some responsibility. If the US sells weapons to 5 countries, 4 of them use them carefully but one doesn't, is it the American Government's fault? Not entirely, because the other countries make their ,own choices but I think the US Government would share some responsibility. To be clear, I don't think individual Americans share any responsibility at all. Governments do what they want. Heroin and weapons only have one use: to harm people. Especially since the drug dealer and the US, when it sells weapons, are making money from the deaths of other humans. I hope you're having a good day! Nothing like replying to a year old comment lol

    This is an unusual case, you normally see countries who do bad acts against civilians deliberately or otherwise but in this case, it is clear incompetence and lack of experience played a huge part. What's puzzling is the inability to improve and the same mistakes are repeated which by no means would help the situation in any manner. Having state of the art systems is one thing. Having proficient and disciplined professionals is another. Comes down to work culture. The way it looks, it seems they aren't interested in improving and becoming better.

    A synical person might think that the Saudi air campaign in Yemen is simply some extended live fire exercise for the the Saudi Royal Airforce to bloody itself and develop the enhanced air to ground attack techniques. One could further decide that Saudi was developing the capabilites that it might need in a hypothetical future engagement with a more powerful (Iranian) Airforce and Army. I often believed that Vietnam and the ensuing Gulf Wars were really simply keeping up with technology and testing and commiting troops to real life firefights against secondary adversaries. This would be beneficial for the US to first keep it's forces ready, and send a signal to larger adversaries like the Russian Fed. and the PRC that we still punch hard. But even more synically, it would be argued that actual BDA or Battle Damage Assessment would be Great Marketing to Allies and weapons Customers like the Saudi and many other countries.

    I'm sorry, but don't be surprised with our relations with the Saudi's. We trade weapons/training for oil.

    So we bomb them, and say "it is hurting us" ? As in we the victim now? . SMH ! Ashame to what we as I say we as in one , should take the blame. God will give the final call and judge witch he know right of the back, of what we are doing on this Earth. God bless the world and the true victim 🙏. We are very sorry for many things. From myself . This ain't right at all. Foul calls. 😞
