Consider starting Cory's classroom shorts?

I’m an electrical apprentice but I’m industrial I work at a power station and it’s good watching this and learning more about both sides! Cory makes it so much more entertaining and enjoyable, keep it up!

Some tv- station should give Cory his own comedy show 😅😂. Tis is just pure gold. Good work guys!

Can u do more demos with the actual settings on your metrel or do a video on it please I literally just bought one and it's a bit confusing at the minute.thanks in advance

Cory is just a hoot! Nice walk-through of the testing procedures...we have different ones in the US so I like seeing how you guys do it.

Cory's classroom spot is spot on. You would make a great teacher, putting those nervous amongst us fully at ease. Just be mindful of the French way of life, Ze will be through the roof.

Cory you are a natural entretainer. Very nice explained and enjoyable to watch. Oscar is a nice apprenticer and very helpful 👍Once again well done lads!!!

On the Metrel you are using you can connect the Green and Blue test leads together for 00-ing leads and perform your R1R2 test using commander probe to line and combined blue green to the circuits CPC.

Im assuming from your vid that its not a requirement to test the integral RCD DD @ 6mA DC. Reason I ask is that looking at certain Metrel and Megger EV MFT's and they have this function. Can I install and test EV's with a standard Magger like the 1721 ?? Anyone know.

Great video. Hate to be a pedant but Continuity is best before IR otherwise in case of an open circuit the IR test voltage would not reach the complete circuit. Cory, I see you are well on the way to losing compos mentis status - it's the curse of all electricians, welcome to the club!

Nice work lads 👌🏼 yea I’ve been debating wether or not I should be that guy that points out R1+R2 should be done before IR 😝 in your defence tho, you can clearly see both ends of the cable it’s not exactly a complex circuit 😃

Hi can I ask when you carry out zs test on a zappi through the evse adapter do you get a high impedance results is that why you didn't record carrying out this test

I thought that the NICEIC preferred/allowed Calculated Zs on lighting circuits, elsewhere it should be measured. If I calculate I just make a note on the certificate as to which results were recorded by calculation. R1+R2/R1+RN before IR but my guess is Cory knows that and was testing the audience...... Excellent video as always. Edit* That Metrel is a beast of a machine....

I think it’s generally preferred to calculate it as much as possible, to minimise the risk of working on a live circuit, therefore fused Spurs, isolator switches e.t.c would be included too. The only one really you can do it safely on is socket outlets

To be honest pendants are one of the few instances where it should pose any real danger. Trying to get my damned Megger croc to stay on the CPC terminal.... Fair point though.

GN3 states Zs calculation is always the preferred option

Can anyone tell me how often EV charge points should be tested? I understand that you would want to test the supply cable along with a periodic inspection of the rest of the installation but what about all the functional tests? I can't seem to find any info in the regs or online. Thanks in advance

Can you show us the ct for the zappi and how the load balancing works

7:46 isn't the live core loose/come out ? just as you move the neutral in position to connect?

Don't do a Zs to minimise live working but it's ok to do a Ze? How does that work? I'm sure NIC just make it up as they go along

Does Oscar understand the physics of what is going on .I am sure he does .But assume nothing.Cory's classroom is a good move. A lot can happen there. Actually curious, measurement of ZE is with earth neutral connected at the board hence 0.3 reading right? But the diagram shows minus the neutral, would show earth electrode alone, typical result 20 -200ohm, which not likely to trip a breaker on earth fault.?

He might have had the neutral connected, but the test itself doesn’t include the resistance of the neutral conductor. What you mentioned about an earth electrode having a higher resitance, that is when RCDs would be used for fault protection rather than additional protection

Top video as always. Get a spare clip for the earth probe - you will be compromising the CAT ratings for the tester. Also not great for Oscar to see this. At least explain to him why these probe shrouds are important.

Do you not test the 6ma RCD element of the zappi charger?

Instead of silicon bring a gland through on the inside.

Do you not have to protect tails going into CCU as it’s a garage with a risk impact to the tails?

Good video mate, where do you get your All your EV work from? Is there some scheme for registrarerd installers to be on? Or is all your stuff private? As you seem to pick up a hell load of EV!?

hiya cory im a 17th edition electrician i want to start installing ev charging stations i dont have 2391 testing cert what do i need to install test ev chargers just zappy 2 and andersons dont want to get involved with spike rods.i need to self certify my work im from leeds

Z loop (ZL-PE) is not a non-trip test, it is a high current 2 lead test which produces around 6A of test current. The green lead is not required to be connected at all, I think you are getting confused with Zs rcd, this is a 3 lead non-trip test

Yes you should do the continuity test first to confirm the integrity of the conductors before going onto I.R tests. Doing the I.R first could give you acceptable readings when in fact you have a break in the cable which an IR test cannot detect unless the cables are shorted out or insulation damaged.

Continuity of protective conductors inc circuit protective conductors is before insulation resistance test.If one of the cable is damaged then you cant test a broken cable for ins res all the way

Huge excess of silicon? I know you were joking and you really meant an inverted gland to keep it IP rated 😉 If someone did run out of glands and had to use silicon 'temporarily', its best to drill a small hole at the bottom rear, as water will creep past the 'temporary' silicon
