Cracking job - my dad was an electrical engineer / electrician (ex MEB / Private - retired now). Showed him video and he was seriously impressed as was I. Good to see a true artisan at work !!
Interesting video! I'm an IT engineer but something about electrical works always gets me interested. Also fully approve of your neatness especially with the labelling 👍
A brickie told me you should always drill into the brickwork as it will stay solid forever whereas drilling into the mortar bed they crumble over time. That’s why older houses often need repointing. Love the videos and your work ethic btw. 👍

Thanks for the tip! I think I’ve done too much work in old listed buildings where you’re not allowed to drill the bricks 😂

I'm 62 now and have always mounted to the bricks and never the Mortar, you can hang off the charging cable and it will never pull the charger off the wall even if you forget and drive away. A couple of good tugs on the charging lead and the charger will fall off Guaranteed.
Congrats. I'm getting mine installed this Saturday. Your videos were very helpful to decide which charger to get and to get an idea what's needs to be done at my place. Thank you!

Awesome hope the install goes well! What car are you getting??
just wanted to say that i do love your videos, i was an electrician to the 17th edition but after the 18th came out i decided to retire, but looking at your videos, you are a man after my own heart, a bit OCD, like everything to be perfect, and the EV charger in Peckham, that consumer unit was horrible with all the insulation on cables cut so short. keep up the good work.
Love all the videos. I am taking my pre apprenticeship at the moment in Canada, starting apprenticeship in Feb. Great to see someone who takes pride in their work

These off cuts you think would come in handy but you keep them and they get in the way and other halves get annoyed by it 🤣👏🏻That’s my life right there mate 🤣
I thought you made a really smart job of installing that, the linian clips look very useful.

I hope you shifted all your neutrals and CPC’s over to suit the new consumer unit layout ... great vid 🇬🇧✊🏻
Really like those Super Clips. No more plastic clips for me. Only slight thing I would have done differently, is I would have hidden the change of direction of the SWA between the brick courses behind the soil pipe.
Greetings from Manchester once again....As always quality video... keep up the great work ethic.... great to see someone that takes great pride in their job...😁📽️👍👊✌️🧰🔧🍻🏍️

Nice video. I can't tell you much I like to see work done well and neatly, unlike most of what I see here where I live!
Wow, great video. Quite different from our 3 phase installations here in Germany.
Pleeease! Move the drain pipe an inch or two! If it overflows it'll be interesting!
Nice to see how you connected to the existing DB and the use of those wall SWA clips ( really good) which is all common to general ccts , But ... ..... What would be good is : To see more about the EV testing itself which is more relevant ( in compliance with BS7671: 2018 section 722 Amd 1 ) and how the ZAPI EV charging unit complies with the requirements in BS761 2018 sect 722 regarding connecting to TN systems - you mentioned this right at the end .. but rather glossed over it.
A great job. Very nice charger and professional. Don't ever be tempted to DIY install this. Get an electician as you can see lots of testing needs to be done to check all is safe and working.

Great Video Jordan. I have a dental mirror in my kit so you check the busbar is in the mcb terminal clamp. I do loads of inspections and see it all the time where the busbar has missed the clamp and has caused overheating 👍

Neat job and love the linen clips. Much neater than cleats.
Well explained. Thanks a lot
Watching from Australia having just bought a 3 SR+. In Aus, all Tesla's come with the Gen 2 HPWC so will be installing that (only single phase like you so will be 32A). Interestingly in Aus we are required to have an isolater/switch near any EV charger. Surprised the UK doesn't have this requirement given you do have switches on far lower powered wall points
Yes best quality ever video and work man you are good.
Since its your own house it doesn't matter but We just wire from the mains outside and have line tap off the main tails into a isolator then wire straight from that to the zappi, lovely piece of kit.

Your really professional. Great vid.
Can't wait to see the car nicely installed charger 👍
Love it We dig it!
Quality install
Great video, thanks. I'm a Model 3 owner and in the process of moving to be able to install a charger. You mention that you didn't want to see so much cable on the outside, which looks great, but was there any technical reason you couldn't continue to the meter box and put your cable in through the wall using whatever hole is already there for the existing cables? Thanks
very nice choice in car and charger. compliment each other nicely. great quality

Water drainage pipe that close to the breaker unit would be a major problem if you had a blockage or waste problem You should relocate it.
It’s incredible that it’s legal to use bus bars like that in UK. In DK it has to be isolated wires
A good informative video on car charging, I have been approached to install my first car charger and this has helped. On my particular installation I think I am going to have issues with loading, which ,without going into details is my problem, the other issue is that it is on a TT system so I will need to look at the RCD issues as all parts of the installation are required to be protected. Lastly, I did not see you re-configure the Neutral and Earthing connecrions at the Distribution Board after you bumped along the Mcb's, not saying you didn't do it but it makes testing the installation a bit easier for the poor bugger who has to do the godforsaken task if all the circuits are numbered up correctly I will also be looking at the Zappi as an option and offering it to the customer after your comments on other brands , such as Rolec which is what we are being offered at our local wholesalers.
The tune the Zappi made @30:49 is the victory tune in final fantasy 7.
Final fantasy victory fanfare tune when you first connect the faceplate 😁
Hi Jordan, this is Dave. We are loving your videos
Very neat install. The only I don't like is how for out the charging connection sticks out. I'll have think how to make one vandal / thief proof!
He!I will buy those clips for my jobs in the Netherlands!Very handy!!
Great vid, just starting my training on these. If the customer has a home battery system would you have done anything differently? What considerations for feeding back into the grid other than the 100 amp fuse? Cheers
that was sneaky! lol im sure the customer likes the work 😂😂😂 im guessing those long drill bits arent long enough! lol you'll be tunneling next! lol seriously tho, your pretty much guarenteed to get thru any wall no matter what so great thinking! 😊 (i'd hate to see a wall that they barely go thru!) its nice to see your using the products you suggest, as you say, it helps customers knowing that you actually know what your on about! 😊

A good quality long drill bit for concrete and bricks, with a good drill / hammer, saves SO much time. Something that can take an hour with a shitty tools, can take 1-2 minutes with proper drill bit and drill. Love my long SDS plus drills. But the longest I own is 45cm. I guess having a longer one could be handy, but I am not a professional electrician :)
Nice and easy install bro! Need to see the car and the performance of the Zapi in action😉

I thought I was being helpful by leaving the spare busbar ready for the next guy ( same as here) but I got a telling off by my Elecsa inspector for leaving it in the board. He said it was a contaminant and shouldn’t be there and made me take it out during the inspection visit

Good thign about those boards is that the mcbs, rcds and rcbos are available in denmans, rexel etc under the steeple brand and cross compatible with lewden. (same stuff) they also have a lot of very well priced type a rcds and rcbos which are ideal for ev charging solutions

Love watching your channel and this UK stuff, still electricity but different from the way we do it in the states.
Thanks for the great video. Really nice project done neatly. Now this is all good for those who do not have their PV installation yet. However Zappi seems to be the best joice when you want to charge only on solar surplus. Any video on how to wire up the solar part with it's own counter to the Zappi?
Great video
Nice job! Nice gate😆👍

The Zappi is a very nice bit of kit and if you have a Solar PV installation it can do some very clever things. It’s worth checking out the fully charged channel, Robert Llewellyn’s has a recent video of his home demonstrating the Tesla power wall and Zappi setup.

Great video.
Perfect
Do you carry out risk assessments and checklists prior to installing these? Also, with the PEN protection are you still required to ensure that everything within 10m that could possibly be earthed is either class 2 or separated from earth via an insulating section?
Earth bonding by the boiler. Further than 600 mm from the gas meter outlet. I'd really like your input on this one as it seems to be quite a matter where electricians and gas engineers disagree on.
Well done. I like your channel.

Need to sort that gate out as your next job lol ... good video
Great video. I was holding on for something specific but I haven't seen it yet and maybe this exist in other brands of chargers and that is "Access Control". Years ago I turned my garage into a family room so installing one of these on the outside of the house is a great idea. But other than turning the unit off at the breaker I'd like to see a unit with a lockout code or the ability to use NFC card reader of some sort almost like a public unit. This way your neighbor it some random idiot can't steal your electric to charge his vehicle while you're off at work.
if you moved all the RH rcd ccts by one position to make room for the EV MCB - that would have changed all the existing cct numbers by "+1" ? - and then - presumably you moved all the neutral and CPC connections on the relevant busbars by +1 also to match the new cct numbering ?
Nice job

Great video, thank you, how will you stop someone else using your charger when you are not home .? , can it be locked ?
Have you seen JW’s video on EV chargers? Also, could you give us a demo of the charger in use showing us what sort of current it pulls etc, perhaps even if you could turn the electric hob/oven on to demo how it ramps back to stay under the maximum demand. Excellent video otherwise, would it be possible to wire the charger into the outside box (main incomer) with just a small main? I would be more comfortable with that amount of load staying away from my house’s main CU.
Good sales pitch, sound electrics. Thanks. Very informative. Have you made one on the 'Harvi' device? Sounds useful.
Wow, them clips never seen them! I must look out for them.

My understanding of the Zappi version 1 is that your not allowed to use it on PME and it does not provide disconnection of the supply in case of DC Fault current above 6ma. 18th Edition Regulation 722.531.2.101

Nice one Jordan. Give me a spin in it please next time I'm visiting ;).....only problem with the clips is that they are centre lined compared to the poly clips that are off centre. What about clipping armoured cable across wooden trusses for example in a garage? Have to use perforated strapping and make ones own fire rated steel clips . A real pain
@artisanelectrics
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely take you for a spin when you come visit! 😁
Good video, thanks. What determines the 7kw as I have a garage at bottom of garden already with armoured cable but not sure if I can run straight off that.
3:10, the stairs go up like this, as you do a downward motion with your hand 🤔. Great videos bud. Will be good to see how you get on with the Tesla. Allen Hart (plumber & KZread star) has one and uses it for work.

Do we need to seal the holes we drilled on the wall, or to seal the anchor screws for the charging station? I am just worried about moistures going into the wall and causing condensation in winter
Excellent. My next car will be electric, nothing as expensive as a Tesla. My question is as I don't know what car I will go for ,which unit do I put in ( I am renovating my house top to bottom now seems a good time to put a unit in ) needs to be a unit to cover a broad range of cars. Thank you in advance.

What size armoured cable did you use for this? Brilliant video
Looks like your van could do with some better security, and maybe some locking pillars at the front of the property and yes that gate seriously needs replacing.
Does the changer unit use much power
