I am enjoying you sharing life in Siberia and Russia with your family. Hard to imagine how cold the winters are as I grew up by the beaches of Southern California, USA. I lived in Kansas and Idaho during snowy cold winters but strangely when I lived there they were experiencing their warmest winters ever so, i never was bothered by the snow but rather enjoyed it. It’s so clean. Every video at random the shots in the background I watch carefully and it’s clean. No trash, no homeless, it looks calm, no conflict. It lacks the speed and hustle and bustle of the US, but it isn’t some third world country with nukes as so often portrayed.

I've never seen videos of Russia with sunshine and hot days. I am amazed at the gardens with so many vegetables and fruits and flowers everywhere and lots of trees. They are everywhere and lots of sturdy growth. Don't they all just die when the winter snow and freezing cold come??😳 It's all very beautiful. 🌻🌱🌶️🌽☀️ Enjoyed your video. Love this video. I lived in Siberia for two years back in 2004-2006 (Omsk, Novosibirsk, & Krasnoyarsk) so it brings back a lot of great memories!! 😊

Cherish your Gran. I lost my Gran in 2007 and I miss her so terribly. She taught me so much that I am grateful for today, she reminds me of your Gran. Bless her and absorb all the wisdom you can. You ARE her legacy. ❤️

Birch trees are very important in any cold wet climate, it is paper to start fires. It starts fires easier than paper when used correctly. My family lived on a small island back in my great grandfsthers day in Newfoundland, it was called Birchy Island. Great timber for wood woodworking as well.

Thanks Julia, I so much enjoy these videos giving a glimpse into everyday living and the areas where people work and live. I love the backyard vegetable gardens, I grew up with such a garden and still remember the taste of freshly picked homegrown produce 😋 Not many people on the streets, it seems quiet. That birch is beautiful! Enjoyed you sharing the area where you grew up and recalling Gran's description of community life at that time. The magic algorithm of the internet has brought me to your channel. I have never been anywhere outside of the USA and have been interested to see other countries and how they live. I thought the Siberia was all forest and covered in ice so watching your videos is a breath of fresh air to seen that it is very modern mixed with the old. So I am learning a lot from your channel.

I used to think Siberia is another country and not a part of Russia, had to educate myself proper geography. Anyway, just stumbled on your channel today and been binge watching some episodes for almost 4 hours now, well it's night time in Canada, so bedtime is the best time to watch..

Hello from Kettle Falls, (eastern portion) Washington state in the United States. I have cold and snow here for about 5 months in the winter, but I’m only at latitude 48.6 N, about the same as Volgograd, so definitely not so cold as Siberia! Watching your videos is so fun and enjoyable. Such great and interesting adventures! I hope your Gran stays well. She is feisty, independent and so efficient (making your jams before you can get to them). She must truly be your treasure. Your auntie Olya has a sharp wit and sense of humor. You wanted pumpkins from her garden, but she says you came too late to decide if they would be planted. Ha! But such a beautiful garden! You made me curious as to what kind of special apples you made into jam. Our state is know as the best place for apple growing in our nation. By the way, Washington state has many birch trees as well!

I love your videos with your family, it brings back memories. Thanks for that. ENJOY the time you have with your grandmother and auntie, learn what you can, it will never be same looking it up on the internet. I miss my Nan every day, whenever I say or do anything inappropriate, I still feel her lovingly swat the back of my head, more fluffed the hair then hit, and that's 25 years after she is gone. Enjoy family.

I live in Australia and only I've seen the snow covered expanses of Siberia from 35,000 feet on my visits to my homeland in Wales. I sit looking out the window and wonder what's happening below. Hi Julia( and Matt in Kazakhstan) 👋. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I love watching Julia and her sister walking around town and especially like seeing "Gran" cooking some special dishes. It's always interesting to hear about traditional remedies for taking care of an illness. Every culture has "timeless cures" for getting over a "cold or sore throat". When I visit different countries I am always grateful to learn of these traditional methods as they are fascinating to me. Julia, your "Auntie" and your "Gran" are such strong, hardworking and independent women. They have certainly set an excellent example for you and your sister. Have a wonderful time in your hometown, please say hi to Matt when you talk with him. Hope the rest of your family(and Matt's) are well and happy. How nice to see the daily life of your family and hometown. I remember when you and Matt were shoveling snow off the roof of your aunt's house. What a change now! nice garden, I have a garden but only grass in my Buenos Aires home. But what I have in common is that I also have an old bathtub using it as a flowerbed, we renovated the bathrooms and removed it but it was so heavy that the easiest thing was to put it outside....I hope you keep your promise to upload recipes... .I looked for the recipe for Courgette caviar but they put sugar in it, I'll see how it turns out without that ingredient that I can't eat due to my diabetes. Most of the comments you receive are positive but there are some .... what patience you must have, I admire you! That Jeff who wants you overboard must be the cockroach that part ways with you some time ago, obviously he was resentful of something... haha byby

Also, Birch trees are here in New England to. I think they grow in Northern and mountain regions.

Cherish the time with your Gran because she is teaching you such valuable skills that will help you in the roughest of times! I also did the same thing with my mom, helping her with making special items and other basic meals, it was wonderful but difficult at the same time. Be patient with yourself if you make mistakes because hardly anyone gets it the first time you make a recipe 😉. Being a DOMESTIC GODDESS is a learn skill and if you have a passion for it, you will make it! 👍 good luck on your adventure! Your husband is lucky to have you!

Thank you for your videos, certainly they are eye-openers, I have a different view now of your part of the world. I live in Manhattan, NY, USA, and seeing all those open open spaces make me soooo jealous! Also, you WALK everywhere! Great exercise every day, something many of us here do not do and get a bit chubbier because of that. Greetings!

We have tons of birch in the US as well. Good for making drums. Siberia looks very nice. Reminds me of my travels to Poland. Spasiba.

I love the idea of self preservation. You can raise your own chickens, plants. its a independent lifestyle. I dont hear traffic or helocopters. peaceful area. green house for plants. do you can food? Russian girls are very nice 😉💋
