This is a very well done video. The camera work and explanations of what needs to be done was exemplary. Also, no goofy music to ruin things. I would not be surprised it Husqvarna were to make use of this video for training purposes it is so well done. I am very well experienced in mechanics and engineering and this gave me everything that I wanted to know in advance of doing this project. There are no surprises that will make me utter certain impolite expletives toward the manufacturer, this time. LOL Thank you very much for a well done video.

Thank you for this video. I’m a single lady and I was able to follow your instructions. Hardest part was that clip on the cable. I don’t have strong fingers, so getting that through the whole was tough and took longer than everything else combined. Now that I’ve done it once, I’m sure the next time will be easier.

They are also referred to by many as "butterfly cotter pins".
Jim, When I do this task, the part of removing the spring mechanism that engages the blade, I find easy is to unscrew the mounting bracket on the top of the mower deck, then the spring comes off easy too. Thank you for your videos, I am saving all the links in a folder for future reference.

Well done video. Explained every step and showed it as well. My only suggestion is to zip tie the spring wire To the frame after the clip upper clip. My upper clip broke and the spring cable got caught in the belt. When I replaced it I made sure it was more secure. In any case great job on this video

Absolutely. I had to zip tie the cable as well because plastic on the mower's tie down was "bound to break" and get in the way.
Thanks Jim. My neighbor just drove up with one for me to service and changes the blades. This will save me time, and frustration - especially with that wire sheath clip!

I've found that putting a strong rubber band around the belt when you take it off the drive pulley helps to keep the belt from coming loose from the other pulleys. Keep looping the rubber band around the belt so it's nice and tight and then slide it towards the other pulleys to keep the belt in place. I didn't do that the first time and when I stood the deck up on its side for cleaning the belt just fell off all the other pulleys. This tip also makes it easier when putting the deck back under the mower and hooking it to the drive pulley.

An outstanding video with great photography. Just a tip for anyone doing this. I have several different colors of fingernail polish that I use to mark linkages and their corresponding connections for making reassembly easier. Also works for wiring , screws, etc to take guesswork out of reassembly. Just a little dab on each piece , and dries very fast and is permanent. I get the loudest colors and at dollar stores. I get pink, blue , red, yellow, green, white, and anything else that is conspicuous.
Great video, you teach great, thank you

After removing the clips and belt you should slide it out to the right side - not the left side. Then the spring will be accessible and so much easier to release the clip. Also the spring with the hook - the hook must have the open end up.

I have a new 3 month old YTH 18542 rider installed by lowes and delivered. Runs great but since day 1 Whenever I engage the blades there is a loud rattling noise from deck and vibrates too. Cuts ok. First thing I tried was I changed the blades (mulching) but no help. So next using your video I may try a brand new belt and look for anything else. Thanks

Perfect! TIp about cardboard is a great idea. Once the housing was down, I used a pencil to trace the ends of the housing on the cardboard then put some strips of tape on the paved laneway to indicate where the initial position of the cardboard was so that when I slid the cardboard back for re-installation after changing my blades the housing was in the exact right spot to hook up all the supports.
