This procedure worked perfectly! I had one operational smart key and bought a genuine gm from ebay, did this procedure, making sure the blank smart key got programmed first, and both work fine...

THANK YOU SO MUCH! 2014 Chevy Cruze LT with push-to-start and a flip key fob. My only key randomly reprogrammed itself (still not sure how I accidentally made that happen) and the Chevy dealership was no help on the phone - they told me I'd have to tow it to them. My key fob had a live battery, was able to lock and unlock doors from a close distance, but was not turning the car on. Took about 40min of fumbling around but this video helped me fix it on my own and get un-stranded.

Tonight both original key fobs on my wife’s 2018 Cruze stopped working(tried new batteries and everything).I Can use the Chevy app to open the car and can start it with key fob in front cupholder. If I follow these instructions can you place both original fobs in the cupholder so it does both at the same time? Or can you only reprogram one at a time? My manual says it doesn’t apply for Canada. Is there any harm in trying?

You can only program one at a time. If you look at the steps in the description box for the video, you repeat steps 4-6 for each remote, after the first remote is programmed. However, the manual is correct that these are only for US market vehicles. I'm honestly not sure if there is any harm in trying, I think that you probably wont even be able to get the vehicle into programming mode.

I got stranded at a gas station watch this whole video and my car started thank you so much. I was so pissed the car did not want to start.

Between steps one and two when I’m waiting the first 10 mins should I be in the car with the remote or stand out and wait

It doesn't matter, you don't need stay in the vehicle if you don't want to. I got out of the car each time to wait in the video.

Just programmed 2 remotes with no issue so I thought. I get error key fob left in car. I can turn that error off no problem. I use 1st fob no issue. Remote start everything. Use 2nd remote remote start no issue. Go back an hour later and remote start on both fobs no longer work and still got key left in car reminder when I open the car door. I have redone the process 3 times. Same issue all 3 times. 2017 Chey Cruze Premier keyless remote. Please help.

What is the procedure if have the flip key like you said 35 seconds into the video?

After turn the key in the door do take the key and put key back in remote or do you leave it in the door

What do you do when your key fob won’t release your emergency key? Is there another way to get it out without breaking the fob?

I have a 2017 Chevy Cruze RS with pushbutton start. Recently the key fobs randomly don't work. I have replaced both batteries in the 2 fobs and still have the problem randomly. I read on line that they might need reprogrammed. So will doing your instructions reprogram my fobs?

This will re-program the fobs but I think you may have other issues as the fobs should not act that way and they do not typically un-program

So my original and only key fob had the circuit board fall out and drop on the ground when I was replacing the battery and now the key fob is damaged and doesn't work. The metal key still works in the door lock so my question is, if this procedure can work for me if I use the original working metal key with the new key fob that I want to program?

Yes - this procedure will erase all fobs that are currently programmed so you will have to re-program them both. You will need to start the procedure with both fobs far enough away from the vehicle so they cannot be read. The key will need to be "unlocked" by someone with the correct equipment before it can be programmed to a different vehicle.

If you have followed the procedure closely with no success, there could be an issue with the key you are using.

you don't technically have to get the new emergency key cut - you just need at least one to do the procedure. It can but just changing the battery in your key should not require re-programming. Are you sure you installed the new battery correctly (Not upside down)?

Usually remotes do not randomly unprogram so you may have other issues. Have you tried replacing the battery in the remote?

@PYR Automotive is correct...this happened to me as well, just one fob. So yes, his procedure works just remember to program the spare previously unprogrammed fob first, followed by the "known operational" fob, it will then remove it from memory and assign it to "remote 2#..both will work perfectly then..it did for me, and saved all those dealership fees..

You will need to program a second fob in order to fully exit programming mode in that case

Dropped my keys while I was taking care of my girlfriend's car since she's in Alaska right now, lost the Fob, and she was ready to murder me. I ordered an unprogrammed fob and followed these steps with her spare key and hopefully this all works!

Read the manual. It lists all the ways to program a Fob whether you have one or not. There is a hidden key slot under your small change holder.

Only step I don't understand is do I leave fob out of the vehicle until 3rd step

Do I have to program two keys? I just did one key and I have a “service theft deterrent system” message when I start the car. Everything works besides the message. The car runs and drives fine but the theft light stays on

What if my the car just is no longer recognizing the key fob when you get into the car....note that this happened after the rear view mirror was snatched off the windshield and the wires broke.

Usually when the fob stops being recognized I would recommend replacing the battery in the fob but if it happened right when your mirror was ripped off I would guess that's the issue. Have you checked your fuses to see if any are blown?

honestly I don't know any of the fuse numbers off the top of my head but I just thought some of the wires that were left from the mirror may have ground out and popped a fuse. You may just want to take some time and just check them all. Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest.

So if I buy a new key, I cant program it without being cut correct or can I use the cut key from my other fob?

It can be used but it needs to have been flashed/unlocked. These fobs lock to the vehicle after programming and need to be flashed before they can be used again.

You will not be able to flash the fob yourself without the proper hardware and software. You can by a used fob but you need to make sure it specifically says "flashed" "unlocked" or "guaranteed programmable" or something along those lines. Yes, you can use the key out of your old fob in order to program a new one.

That would not be something to do with programming. If you have the remote start option installed but it is not working, there is either an issue with the remote start button on your fob or an issue with actual remote start system in your Cruze.

Has the remote start ever worked? If not, your vehicle may just not have the remote start option installed. If it worked on your old remote but no the new remote, I would try replacing the "new" remote again.

This is a 2017 South Korean cruise car. There is no response to the instrument cluster after removing the key cap and turning the key 5 times to the left.
