    Fabulous video, Matt! I have wanted to make a video like this for the last 22 days. The best running watch for me is... 1. Apple Watch Ultra 2.0 on my left wrist (calls my wife if I fall, connects with Spotify, and fun to use as a smart watch) 2. COROS Pace 3 on my right wrist (so light, ultra-accurate, and the battery life is good enough for a 50K trail race)

    I had an Apple Watch, Coros Apex 2 Pro, Garmin 255, 955, 965, and Epix. Ultimately, I returned the 965 for the Epix because of its sapphire glass and titanium back; the watch feels more complete than the 965. Garmin is the only watch with offline maps, navigation, and rerouting capabilities-it's simply the best.

    Totally agree. You have to find the watch that will suit your needs. I for one tried the well reviewed Coros Pace 3 but its leaning too much for Running focus user. As I'm casual runner and most of the time prefer Strength work-outs, it didn't work and felt incomplete. When I switch to Garmin 955, I found the balance I'm looking for. Good enough for both running and strength training plus with Recovery metrics I love to read and overall tracks my fitness while I'm trying to loss weight. As you have mention, most watches now are great or maybe not perfect at all. It comes down what you prefer to do with it. Haven't tried Suunto and Polar but I bet they awesome as well, but for now I'm happy with my 955. Cheers! 😁

    Very nice video! For me, battery life is much more important that Apple thinks it is. I can honestly say that there are days that I do not have time to charge my watch. I might not get home until it is time to go straight to bed. I need the battery to be able to last multiple days. I would consider 5 days to be my minimum. As for MIP display, I actually prefer it. I work outside, so I need it to look the best while in direct sunlight. I don't like the sapphire screens because they seem to have more of a glare while outside. Oh, and offline mapping. I spend a fair amount of time in locations where there is no cell phone service, so Garmin's offline mapping (which is much more than just a breadcrumb trail) has been incredibly useful for me!

    Thanks for the videos! Currently have AW8 and mostly love it. I have two 25k trail races coming up (first for me, I’ll be slow). Thought I made up my mind b/c my AW had 41% left after 2.5 hour run. This was not on trails and I’m guessing I’ll take 4.5 hours for races. Thoughts on if it’ll last? Also, on different note, I’ll be coaching middle school XC in the fall. Considering 255 or 955 (both discounted rn) or chancing my AW. Any of these have any features that would benefit coaching?

  • @mlegrand

    @mlegrand

    15 күн бұрын

    There are some things you can do to make the AW8 last as long as possible. I think you'd be able to tweak the settings to make it work for 4.5 hours. The accuracy might not be as ideal but I think you can make it work if you want to. The AW8 would also be fine for all the training and coaching. (I also coach BTW). The main tool you'd need for coaching is a basic stopwatch which all of these watches would have. The Garmin Forerunner 255 would be a great option. It's on sale right now for about $100 off (amzn.to/3yXsOU5) and the 955 is similarly discounted. The 955 would be nice because it has maps. Thanks for watching this one Trina! Best of luck with the race and coaching! You're going to do great!

    To be clear, I've been wearing the Enduro 2 significantly more than any other watch I have here but I think I'd go with the Epix Pro 51. The larger size has solid battery life, it has a flashlight and every feature that Garmin has to offer. The Enduro 2 offers all of that with the main difference being additional battery life and a MIP display. So it'll depend on your use case. If you're outside all the time and you travel (not needing to bring a charger) than the Enduro 2 makes more since. Otherwise the Epix Pro's display is nicer to look at. 🤷‍♂ Tricky call

    @@mlegrand Not surprising, Garmin is at the top of any of my lists. I tried the Suunto, Race, (too buggy, hurt my wristbone) Samsung GW6 Classic (Let's not go there, terrible everything except display), Coros Pace 3 (Horrible display, cheap feel), Polar V3 (all the bugs, crap battery), and always went back to Garmin. They just work for the most part, everyone else is playing catch-up. Also since getting the Epix Pro 51mm, I can't go back to a watch without a flashlight, it's just so incredibly useful. I use Android so no Apple watch for me.

    @@mlegrand Don't get me wrong, I'm not against or for any manufacturer. In general, of course, GARMIN is a top manufacturer. Anyway, thanks for the video.
