Using the CMF by Nothing Watch Pro has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had in a while, and that’s saying something, given that I’ve tested dozens of smartwatches in the last year. Still, there are some things to like about this cheap 69 dollar smartwatch; A watch which I expect many are considering as a cheap Apple Watch alternative. However, as you will see in this video, based on my systematic testing of this watch, I think many of you will be disappointed with the performance of this first smartwatch of CMF by nothing. At least, that is, if you care about the sports and health tracking of this watch. Outside that, the watch does look and feel quite premium for the price. However, you can judge yourself based on the data I will share in this video.
I was quite excited to test the nothing watch, and I bought two of them to be able to collect a lot of data quickly. However, after connecting them with two of my iPhones, I noticed the first big problem I had with the nothing watch pro: none of the sports and sleep data was syncing to either of my iPhones. I could see it on the watch, but it just wasn’t there on the phone. I’d chosen iPhones since I was hoping to sync my data with Apple Health, but not only was this not happening, the data was not even showing up on the Nothing Watch app itself. I tried a bunch of things, and even contacted their help desk. I tried all their tips, but if this didn’t work, they suggested I go to an offline CMF service center.
So, the sleep stage tracking of the CMF Watch Pro just isn’t very good. I at least would not trust it to tell me anything useful about my stages, except perhaps my total time spent in bed. So, if you want anything more complicated than that, just pick another watch. Overall, I’d give the sleep stage tracking of the CMF Watch Pro, 2 out of 5 stars. So, as you might have guessed by now, with the current firmware and app, I am not very happy with the CMF Watch Pro. First of all, my data is locked in an ecosystem with a poorly performing app, and second, the health and sports data it does provide is more or less useless to me. That being said, more subjectively, I do like the design and simplicity of the CMF Watch Pro. And, for the price, it does feel surprisingly premium. It is kind of chunky, which means that it looks quite big on smaller wrists. So, if you don’t care about the health and sports tracking data, this might still be for you, but if you do, I would steer clear. Therefore, overall, I’d give the health and sports tracking of the CMF by Nothing Watch Pro, 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Manually extracting data from screenshots - that is THE level of madness dividing scientists from us - mere humans. I just love your attitude!

THANK YOU ROB! Many of the issues you've reported PLUS MORE on the actual watch portion of their software/hardware have not worked correctly (or at all) since launch, and they've responded to none of the comments that I and many others have listed on their community feedback boards. It's basically a decent looking watch that barely even tells time correctly. As always, GREAT VIDEO!

Many of the watch reviewers are paid sponsors of said watches. A dead giveaway is they have nothing negative to say about the watch they are reviewing. Not this guy, The Qualified Scientist is my go to for the real deal.
@VPuffy
Ай бұрын
What if he's the paid guy? He only used an iPhone to test an app made for android and extracted the data from there. He could've just used a nothing phone as the watch is made for it. He's just being biased himself and giving out false results..
@brinckau
Ай бұрын
@@VPuffy I don't see anything indicating that the results are false.
@VPuffy
Ай бұрын
The fact that he used an iPhone with which he mentioned that he was having connectivity issues and still he forced it to make it work which already would give many errors.. And the fact that he took the values manually from screenshots adds a additional layer of errors on top of that.. He could've just used a nothing phone to do the testing which would've been the best for both connectivity and results @@brinckaucomplaining that a watch made for android, doesn't work with iphones, and still continuing using the iPhone for the testing clearly shows that he biased towards Apple and this fact make his results unreliable..
I’ve been waiting for this one!! Thanks for sharing.

Really appreciate these in depth reviews! Please review some smart rings as alternatives to Oura, which requires subscription to be useful. There are many ~$20 R3 and SR200 variants that look pretty interesting. It seems much easier to damage and/or lose watches than rings.

Thank you for this video, was planning on buying a CMF Watch just because I have a Phone (2) (which is actually good unlike this watch). Decided on an Inspire 3 instead. Keep doing these, as it really helps out people in deciding what to buy! 👍
Almost random data generation, unknown data policy without direct access... Life pro tip: Buying 2 dice and call whatever you throw your current heart rate, is cheaper and seems to work just as well as the Nothing Watch Pro. Big thanks to Rob for yet another great review!

Quick question: I'm into DA as well. I want to know if that p-value was obtained with a 'relational test' (cannot remember the name) comparing the similarities between two distributions . A low value meaning that the two distributions are veeeeery different (low probability that the differences are only due to statistical variations etc) Great content! Thanks! 🤗

Hi! Thanks for the question. The p-value in this case is not very meaningful, since even a relatively low correlation will still be significant. I wouldn't focus on it in this case.
