How to make your shirts vintage!
EP.44 - Just a quick little video tutorial on how to soften and loosen up a newer stiff shirt.
I personally like softer shirts so it's been fun figuring all this out.
There are many ways and many videos out there so I have tried to tie a few methods together here. After allot of trial I have found for the most part this system works good. Be careful not to over do it as you may get loose thread or even hols in your fabric.
It is probably not a good idea to do this to your favorite shirt.
If you want to distress an image on a shirt the pumice stone is a good bet but again, be careful.
Here is a list of what you will need!

I just like the feeling of well loved and soft t shirts to hang out and wear when I’m working on my truck . Or chillin . I don’t like the roughness of new shirts thank you so much for this video

For sure and thank you too! I love that soft old shirt feeling too!
You should do a before and after of the t shirts so we can have a better visualization of how the shirt changed

I’m going to try this! I bought a new tshirt so it’s vibrant, I want to wear it to an event this summer so I’ve been tossing it in my laundry basket & washing it every week to hopefully further destress it lol

You can also try just tennis balls and fab/softener at first. I usually do shirts I'm OK with messing up but they have all been fine.

haha thanks! Love that band!
When you open a can of tennis balls you HAVE to take a big sniff. Its one of the best smells this side of Saturn
You can also beat/whip the shirt against a brick building or wall. That can break and soften those fibers. Great video! You are soooo creative!!!
When i saw king gizz shirt i freaked, literally the reason I'm here is so I can make my microtonal banana shirt more vintage, holy shit

Just a tip have you tried liquid pool chlorine? That’s what I’m going to try. I remember the chlorine fading my moms black T-shirt but it didn’t bleach it when I wore it in the pool when I was younger

That's a great idea, let us know how it works out;)
These transitions are killer man!
Step one: Wear t-shirt into your time machine. Leave it in the 90s/80s. Step two: Retrieve your shirt in at least 20 years. Your shirt is now vintage

How long did you do each process? What grain sandpaper? Did you sandpaper neck & hem?
I've never bought big bags of salt before. What kind is it? How long do you leave the shirts in the vinegar? How long do you leave the shirts in the fabric softener?
Awesome idea for a video! Gonna try this
How much of that salt did you use? I have two batches going right now. Used Morton table salt on the first. Using the water softener salt on the second.

Ha! I've had a hard time with super stiff shirts, you have to run it threw a bunch.
what are the measurements for the salt?
How do you make a t-shirt hard, stiff, rough? I like the feeling of rough t-shirts. I hate when it's soft. I'm not kidding. I know I'm in the minority! I would love to know how to do that.

How to make your shirts LOOK vintage. Don't water down or dismiss the beauty of an actual vintage t shirt that is distressed to perfection. It can't be recreated.
