How to Make Your Bike Component Shine: Crank Polishing Tutorial

In this video, we will show you how to polish your aluminium bike crankset to give it a shiny, mirror-like finish. Over time, your crankset may become dull and tarnished due to exposure to the elements or regular wear and tear. Polishing it not only restores its appearance but also helps to protect it from further damage.
To start, you will need some basic materials such as a polishing compound, microfiber cloth, polishing wheel, and a drill. We will also provide you with some tips and tricks to help you achieve the best results.
First, remove the crankset from your bike and clean it thoroughly using soap and water. Once it's dry, apply a small amount of polishing compound onto the surface of the crankset, and using a microfiber cloth, rub it in a circular motion, applying light pressure.
Next, attach a polishing wheel to your drill and apply a small amount of polishing compound to the wheel. Hold the crankset steady and turn on the drill, applying light pressure as you move the wheel back and forth over the surface of the crankset.
Repeat this process, moving from coarse to fine polishing compounds until you achieve the desired shine. Finally, wipe off any excess polish with a clean microfiber cloth.

Was that just drain cleaner
How does polishing it protect it from damage? You've already removed the anodising which protected it in the first place.

The anodizing is providing some protection,. but it can still get scratches, gouges, and whatnot. This finish is an aesthetic preference. Once you get it to this mirror-like finish it will eventually oxidize and dull over time, but you can just use aluminum polish to bring back the mirror-like finish. And if it gets really dull and/or scratched, you can just use the cutting compound and polishing wheel (or even sand it again if you need to take out a deep scratch) as often as desired.

Maybe it is but i think its harder material , for me its doesnt make sense and a risk of teeth 🦷 destroyed
