I like homemade rolled dumplings I’ve tried those ones with the buttermilk biscuits and that was the nastiest pot of a waste of ingredients. Rolled is way authentic.

I've been making chicken and dumplings since 1987. I learned from a neighbor I had when I was first married, living on Keesler AFB in Biloxi MS. Ma'am, you showed me an entire new way to drop my dumplings, and not have them turn into a mushy mess. And you showed me a new way to add more flavor to my broth, and I will be doing this for my Sunday dinners. Thank you so much! All if your recipes are so delicious! So glad I found your channel! God bless you!💕

I've been eating chicken and dumplings all my life. A few things we do different is to leave the skin on all the chicken instead of adding butter, we roll them a little thicker so they are less like noodles and more like small biscuits, and add about 1/2 cup of milk at the end. Ive never tried using broth in the dumplings, but I will the next time I make them. Especially now that you've got my mouth watering for them! Thanks so much for all your work. I know these videos take a lot longer to prepare than just the 30 minutes or so that we see. TY TY TY!

My mother, a south Texas girl, would make only rolled dumplings. She thought drop dumplings were awful. I knew another lady who always broke the larger chicken bones in half so that the bone marrow would cook into the broth & make it richer.

Ms. Chris, Ms. Chris, Ms. CHRIS!!! That looks so delicious!!! Just like I remember my Mother, my uncle and one of my aunts used to make it. Thighs and legs though but no carrots or nothing just like you when my Mother wanted chicken and dumplings that’s what she wanted 😊 Ms. Chris you’re still one of my MOST FAVORITE Cooking Girls! For those who don’t know Ms. Chris can show you the old school way and she can teach you short cuts for the new school but they will all be delicious. My Mom used to say that same saying “ Ain’t nothing to it a baby could do it...If you put him up to it” I already loved you for cooking style and recipes with your staple being my Mother’s favorite staple (Onion soup mix) (Lipton) also. but now you’ve added one of her cool memorable sayings from when I was a child. I have to remember you are from Chicago 😊 ChiTown in the House or shall I say in the kitchen.

I watched every minute of your video trying to see if this was close to how my mom made hers. i grew up on chicken n dumplings that was my favorite dinner, lunch, late night snack etc.. when i saw you mixing the flour in your fingers My mom mixed her flour like that to..and saying you could use butter instead, i knew i had found the perfect recipe. She would also always say don't drop them on top of eachother just like you said. But i was impatient doing 1 by 1 i and would leave the kitchen, i guess that's why i never learned 100%..my mom passed when i was 27,(at that age you think there's still time to learn recipes) I'm now 53 and I always think how to make her recipe..i remember her rollin the dough and i would help roll n cut the squares(that was the fun part) i remember butter, half n half, looked like chicken n dumplings swimming in creamy white gravy.. and now i think I've found it thanks to you..i can't wait to try the recipe cuz it would really taste like home..

Mom would sift flour over the dumplings. And ALL the dumplings was in the same bowl. Also Mom added a little pet milk towards the end of simmering. BONES GOOD!!! Excellent technique

Great instructions, love all the details! On point for sure! My Grandma used that old school fork method too. She had to comb her hair with a fork too when she was kid bc she and her sisters didn't have a comb or brush on the farm they grew up on in Southern IL. back in the day. Lovely vid. Thx for sharing. It refreshed my memory on some of my Grandma's tricks n tips. She used a whole chx and cooked it all down. Love that you use the bones too. More nutrition bc you get the gelatin for cartilage and joint health. Thx for sharing. I just subscribed! ❤
