How to make Furikake 〜ふりかけ〜 | easy Japanese home cooking recipe
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I am showing how to make FURIKAKE yourself at home. Furikake means to sprinkle, since it is something to sprinkle over rice. This is loved by everyone in Japan, especially from the kids. I am also showing a variation, where Furikake is mixed in cooked rice and made into Onigiri, which is also a common thing done in Japan mostly for Bento (packed lunch).
In my Channel, I show step by step of alternative but authentic Japanese home cooking, which can be made with the ingredients that are easily available outside of Japan.
Ingredients for Putin (3 Portions):
Kombu kelp 10 g
Bonito flakes (Katsuobushi) 20 g
Nori seaweed 1/2 sheet
Sesame seeds (roasted) 1 Tbsp
Soy sauce 2 1/2 Tbsp
Sugar 1 1/2 Tbsp

My grandparents always had this on the table. My grandmother would add tsukudani to the middle of some of her onigiri's.
that crunchiness of the rice toping sounds delicious.
I never thought to make it! I’ve been buying it at H Mart for decades!! Thanks!
Thank you for this video! I was completely obsessed with furikake as a kid, but the store bought stuff was very expensive and had some questionable ingredients so we stopped buying it all together. I'm so happy I watched your video, I will definitely try making this!
I’ve been making my own furikake for years now, but I really like the simplicity and versatility of your recipe. I think I’m a convert. I also stock up on an umeboshi variety whenever I see it at my local Asian market because it’s so delicious. I agree with you, a bowl of really good, properly cooked rice is a delight to eat on its own. But topping it with a few shakes of carefully thought out seasoning can elevate it even more. I very much appreciate your cooking style and thoughtful outlook about food.
Cool. Loved the video
Great 👍 thanks
Some time ago I became interested in Asian/Japanese culture and cuisine and I'm so happy I found your channel! 😍 I've been binge watching all your videos and now I thought it's time to finally leave a comment 😉 Your instructions are very easy to follow and I can't wait to try some of the dishes! (We're currently moving house, mostly surviving on fast food so I'm craving something really delicious! 😍) Anyway, thanks for your wonderful videos and inspiration. I hope there are many more to come! 😊 I wish there were more channels like yours! Greetings from a fellow German citizen 🙃
I need to go to the grocery store again now… this looks delicious, and pretty easy to make.
very interesting! thank you!!!💚💚💚
Thank you. I am in Tokyo and will go to Tsukiji area now to buy the ingredients. I’ll try it at home as soon as I’m back. Oishi so desu.
Sehr feines Video Kollege. Macht mir immer Spaß dir beim kochen zuzusehen. Ich werd das nächste mal auch Furikake machen, wenn ich Dashi gekocht habe. Alles Gute und schöne Sommerferien!
Thanks for the recipe, arigatou
I always wondered how to make furikake. Thank you for sharing I would want to wrap the onigiri with the other half of the nori yummy thank you
Love it ❤
I really enjoy your videos. It is nice to see different ideas for sides. However I would personally be interested in seeing you make a complete meal. Rice soup your sides and your main dish. I can only imagine how many dishes you dirty making one single meal and how long it takes. It would be interesting to see. Thank you.
Yum ... I made mine vegan.
A lot of my older comrades are facing health challenges. I switched from American breakfast and often use your recipes for my mornings. I put your you tube url in a group chat!
Thank you very much for this inspiration! I knew only the shop-ones :)
I love furikake and always figured it was not difficult to make, but never knew how. Thank you for posting this, Taiji-san! Can't wait to give it a try myself.
Definitely getting a lot more popular here in the states now. H-Marts are pretty readily available in most parts of the country now and they stock a few different types and brands. I think my favorite so far is the JFC katsuo fumi but I'm gonna try making this home made next time!
Thank you for a short and concise recipe. Do you have one for vegan ramen broth?
Now I’m hungry!!!
Thank you! I've been wanting to use this seasoning for a while, but the store bought ones have msg and too much sugar for my liking, plus they are a silly price. I love being able to make my own! Thanks again.

They used to make MSG out of kombu kelp before they started using the fermentation method so I'm afraid this one will glutamates as well

@rihardsrozans6920 the stuff I made was delicious and didn't have msg. I would rather have as few additives as possible. There are a lot of toxic substances made from non-toxic plants that we use in our food. The fewer additives, the better. I can't find kombu here, anyway

@@Erika70079 Oh yeah of course I'm just saying that not knowing a different name for a thing doesn't make it disappear from the food you consume.
Hi, I only recently found your channel and I wanted to ask, do you have video of links to products for cooking? For example, I looked in Amazon for pan to make Tamagoyaki and Japanese chopsticks and there are too many options. So I wanted to know if you have any recommendations. Thanks in advance
Can you please teach how to make aonori seasoning for takoyaki. I have nori sheets. Can I make with that?? I am not Japanese but I love making Japanese food. Thanks for teaching delicious recipes always😊
if you had red shiso, would you add instead of nori, or do both together?
😋
What to replace bonito with for vegetarian families?? I saw shiitake on web. Would I just stir in w/ kombu in soy sauce and sugar until dry?
The advantage with homemade furikake is there aren’t any strange chemicals in it like so many store bought brands do. Make sure to use organic, pure soy sauce too because many famous name brands use sodium benzoate as a preservative and that’s a known carcinogen. Thanks for the video!

So true! I want to try a lot of things but when I look at the ingredients it has so many additives that I don’t eat… coloring, MSG, seed oils…. So I am so happy now we can make our own. 😊
I bought my furikake in Hawaii and didn’t think until today I can make my own, thank you so much for teaching us the method and for the recipe. I wonder, though, can the bonito flakes be omitted or substituted, for vegan style?

I was wondering this as well because I am unable to eat fish due to allergies.
Taiji ... Let's do the topic of the dishes to eat when Japanese birthday
Your recipes are a little weird, but very nice. I guess you have your own .. vision on Japanese cuisine. I enjoy and take notice of your work, keep up good style! 👍😊

It is a normal way of cooking Japanese food.
Is oregano usually used in Japanese cooking? Do you think you could make a dish taste good using oregano?
I don't know where you are living, but Kombucha in the West is fermented black tea. Others know kombucha as a tea made from dried kelp or sea weed.

Amazing! Side note. I am learning Japanese and translating everything you say in English… into Japanese. 😂 このレシピをありがとうございます 🙏
Is there any substitute for us vegetarians? Doesn't need to taste exactly the same, maybe minced shitake mushroom?

I think dry mushrooms - shiitake or otherwise - would work well in a furikake - I would blitz in a good processor for more consistent result.

@@johnbabcock8495 I would not use un-rehydrated shitakes as they have been grown in sand, I think, anyway there is always a bit of sand in the bottom of the soaking liquid.
What is furikake? I am American.
I enjoy learning from you and enjoy your explanations…..however, the background music really is distracting and repetitive ….maybe you don’t need it?Thanks for your consideration of this feedback..😊.
