How is that better than grilling the onions separately and placing them under cheese slice? The cheese keeps them in place. That just looks like he’s making a huge mess. A smaller portion of the onions actually make it onto the burger.

it looks great but the whole point to a smash burger is to give your patty Maillard reaction across the whole surface. this is what creates the tastiest burger . you didn't press the ball long enough for that to take place, that's why there is no browning or caramelization on your patties. keep pressed for at least ten seconds and you will notice a difference and have a blast of flavor. great idea with the onion smashed into the patties. dont forget to scrape those patties off with a scraper to retain all the Maillard reaction encrusted patties so you can have a flavor explosion in you mouth! great setup and keep up with the great burgers!

I probably would’ve added a second layer of cheese on those burgers, but that looked so good that I could almost taste it through my phone.

That is the best Iv seen it done, I was already hungry after you greased the flat top from the start!

I've found that if you spice the smash burger before smashing it, most of the spices will stay in the middle of the burger. That's why I spice after the smash so the seasoning is evenly distributed. Toast the buns with butter or burger juices.

Not one of the food content creators can cook 12 burgers at once. You killed it good job

I agree... It's a super delicious looking burger..! But I definitely would not have flipped it until it had a bit of crust on the burger... Not to dry it out... But to caramelize the exterior. It sure has my mouth watering!

I hear ya. I’m seeing many people replace their charcoal BBQ grills with outdoor griddles. Easier clean up, and you can cook more varieties of food. But understandably the smoker grill will always have its place.

Apparently you're not from Oklahoma because that is not the way you make a smashburger. A smashburgers 3 oz max and you smash it then put the onions on. A smashburger was developed because beef was hard to find and in order to make it stretch you made small burgers with lots of onions.

The completed patties were still a tad thick for smash burgers. BTW, Beef Tallow is what mcdonald's use to put in their fry oil. Thats why the fries tasted so good.
